Have been to Vanessie many times and once again the food was outstanding! Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and my husband said the Roast Chicken was the best he ever had in a restaurant, moist and tender. Of course the service was impeccable. Our server knew his wine and recommended an excellent wine which we had never had before. The dining room is perfect for a quiet dinner and the bar is perfect for their entertainment. Vanessie can stand up to any restaurant on Canyon Road and The Plaza and you don't have the tourist.

There was some sort of fund raiser going on, so the place was extremely loud and crowded. Our server did apologize for the poor service. Food was mediocre at best.

Food was decent, but nothing special or worth writing home about. Service was fair to poor. Waiter was far mor interested in serving the table of his friends than attending to his other tables. We generally like Vanessie's and have been often, but this was not one of their better showings. Both the food and service suffered on this particular occasion. Bar was fun and lively, restuarant was fair to poor.

We have lived in Santa Fe for two years and just discovered Vanessie. It is not the easiest place to find, but it is definitely worth the search. Great food, attentive staff, and a piano bar that seems like it would be fun. The dining room is separated from the bar, so you can hear the piano, but it is background music.

Tucked away off of the beaten path is Vanessie's. We had not been there in years, as we used to stay at the Inn that they now have acquired. The elk was awesome my special entree was great as well. Both of were disappointed with the arugula salad course. It lacked punch and interesting flavors. We love arugula salad that are embellished with goodies, but this one missed. On another note, I felt that the wine list missed. It was a small list compared to other restaurants in Santa Fe at that have the same price point on food. They were short on Pinot's and I do not recall much in the way of Spanish wines - which are pervasive in New Mexico. All in all I would go back - but the entrees are pricey and there are many choices.

On arrival there was no one to check us in. Once we found someone to seat us, we sat for 20 minutes without anyone coming by or showing that we existed. After getting up to seek out help I grabbed someone, they seemed to struggle to figure out what to do with us. Finally the hostess came by and ended up being our waitperson. She was very nice but we might as well have gotten up to serve ourselves. There was no other attention from the staff except to clear our plates. We were not the only table feeling ignored. This all was especially irritating for a special occasion dinner, seated in a different room from the music at $125 per person, not including drinks. In the end the food was good.

Attended NY Eve, and while pleased with the quality of the prime rib and fish, the $125.00/entree price was outrages! Along with the entree we had a bottle of wine which met expectations, however when we received the check an extra class of wine had been added of which the waiter indicated it was his mistake and removed the glass of wine ($14). Had I not check the bill carefully the extra cost would have been included in an already expensive dinner. Not a good way to gain customer confidence. Also at $355 for dinner I expect the service to be impeccable, however at best it was average and not unlike the service in a lunch diner.

We went with a romantic evening for our wedding anniversary in mind and that's what we experienced. The wait was extraordinary and did everything to make our evening a real pleasure. The ribeye was by far, the best ribeye I've ever had. I started with the roasted beet salad which was very good. The Proseco was also the best I've had.

Vanessie's is known for its piano bar, but slip into the restaurant on a beautiful Santa Fe evening, and you'l find a more subdued and romantic spot for a great dinner. On our last visit, we had the doible-cut pork chop (fantasitic) and the pasta primavera (delightful). Our waiter helped us make the perfect wine choices, and the service could not have been better. Alas, we were too full for desert, but we'll be back.

This was the first time we dined at Vanessie and were somewhat apprehensive about reserving a table for five on Christmas Eve. However, we had what was probably the best dinner meal we have had anywhere in Santa Fe. In addition to the fine selection of appetizers there was an excellent selection of entrees in addition to some very fine "specials". Our waiter, Albert, was very attentive and had excellent rapport with our dinner party. We had a variety of meat and fish dishes and each was outstanding in taste, texture and seasoning. We spent some time after dinner enjoying the music in the large piano bar area and had a most enjoyable time especially appreciated by our out of town guests. Vanessie is on our fine dining list.

First the GOOD-very well prepared elk tenderloin and sea bass, ample beet and goat cheese salad and ample calamari with marinara appetizer, double scoop of raspberry sorbet and very good chcoclate pecan pie, excellent wait staff, manager made a point of introducing himself and offering a complimentary pro secco and dessert Now the BAD-VERY SMALL 4 oz portion of sea bass and 3 oz portion of tenderloin-for $32 each-yikes!! Hostess MIA, rude when she returned and rude on the phone when I called to inquire about missing opentable points. Some work to be done on staff training and portion size/pricing We live in Santa Fe and will return but before we recommend them we want to see if they improve.

Superb service! Very good food. My wife had scallops that were, in her description, absolutely delicious. I had ribeye, which was slightly overcooked, but such a good cut of meat that it could be overlooked. However, my server did not overlook it and offered, without any comment from me, to replace it. We were far enough from the piano bar to not be overwhelmed by that, and the background music added to a very enjoyable meal.

We had a 7PM reservation. We arrived on time despite the difficulty we had finding a place to par. We approached the bar entrance which is the one used to enter the dining room. The room was packed, wall to wall people. It seemed as though the capacity was overloaded and the fire marshall might appreciate a call. We could not get through to the dining room. There was a door ajar into the dining room so we went in and stood by the hostess desk for possibility 5 minutes. Servers walked by but no one acknowledged us. The noise level was extremely high, the food on diners plates looked merely pedestrial. So we left and went to the El Dorado where we had a nice leisurely quite enjoyable dinner. Bad Experience all around
