I didn't read up on the restaurant - it is communal tables of 10-12 around a hibachi grill with a live chef ala Benihana. I was not into dining with others, talking over noise, and walking out of there smelling like cooking oil, so we opted for the back room - serviceable, but sticky tables (cooking oil residue?) was a real turn-off despite the helpful service. That the salad and raw fish was good was at least a treat, but I would not go back. Need zen calmness when I dine Japanese. I was the wrong audience for this place.

Although it was almost a year ago that I visited the establishment it was my first time at a hibachi place and therefore a memorable experience. The large hot griddle which makes up the center of the table is quite an experince as the chef preforms various tricks while preparing the food. The style of resturant is best for large groups and would be a great experince if you are at a table with people you know. But if you are adventeruos and can speak with strangers easliy it would work out just as well. There is a lot of food, as you choose a 3 course meal and in a group can share with your friends. I would definetly go back with some friends.

  • Ehh... It's ok

This place has ok food but it was definitely overpriced but definitely very good service. We is not do Hibachi, which is supposed to be there main thing although we heard everything was good. We were sat in a quiet small back room which was kinda tight. The servers were wonderful and very on the ball. The menu was small and all that was offered was sushi. We enjoy sushi very much but we went here for real food. The sushi was ok although kind of dry. Overall our experience was just ok. Due to us not trying the hibachi I can't speak on that but I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

Overall it was a good experience. The noise level made it very difficult to hear the person next to you but then again watching the habchi is enough to keep you entertained there really isn't much need for talking. The food was alright, the dish not to miss out on is the fried rice and noodles. Overall a good experience and I would probably go back with a large group of people.

Shiro of Japan is mainly known for its hibachi that surpasses that of Benihana. The just as amazing yet less well known part of Shiro is their sushi. The sushi is always freshly prepared and the speciality rolls are among the best you will find anywhere.

Nice place Try the Hibachi duck with pears. First time for this dish and it was excellent. Noodles tasted funny though:(. Service was good and the Chef wasn't silly. No kids at our table. Better than Benihana "down the road"
