Food was delish!!! Authentic Sicilian /Italian flavors. Fresh pastas and sauces. App, entree and dessert were amazing. My friend and I had the saffron rice balls, bruschetta for apps. Ragu with shirt ribs and eggplant pasta for entrees. Ricotta stuffed doughnuts for dessert. So good. I can't wait to go back.

Recently renovated (and name changed to Bar Eolo) this is the place to go for serious Sicilian food. They've added "bar snacks"--try the fried olives. Melissa, the chef/owner is passiionate about authenticity and it shows.

We made a reservation at Bar Eolo because it was close to the Irish Repatory Theater. We were so pleasantly surprised with the ambiance. The food and wine was Sicilian - some new tastes and both were excellent. The service was a bit haphazardat first but it may have been because we were eating very early in a neighborhood that eats late. That being said the wait staff was very pleasant and did make the small changes in our order that we requested - all with a smile. I highly recommend Bar Eolo.

Took my wife out on a date... thx to gramma for babysitting. This was during the nyc restaurant week for the $38 dinner special. Overall, the food was very good. Everything we chose had beautifully simple and delicious. The only "but" was that portions were small... typical during restaurant week special menus at places all over town. However, we weren't hungry when we left... just wanted more since it was all delicious. Drinks were good too, but each over $10, so the bill can start adding up. Can't go wrong with this place if you like good food though... definitely give it a try.

We picked this restaurant off of the open table list for restaurant week and had no idea what to expect. What a great dining experience! We ended up not ordering off the restaurant week menu for no reason other than we didn't want dessert . All four people in our party had a different appetizer and entree and all of it was delicious! The service was great, the wine options plentiful (the bartender even came over to our table to assist us with ordering) and it was a great dining experience all around. I would definitely go back!

My guest and I had a wonderful evening. We ordered off the "Restaurant Week" menu and were very satisified with our selections. The waitress informed us that the portions were a little smaller on the "Restaurant Week" menu, and I appreciated her honesty and letting us know ahead of time. The portions were fine for us, but I think, in particular, men might still be hungry if they ordered off this particular menu.

Great food, classic NYC ambiance (as the subway rumbles under you every few minutes). Our waiter seemed in a hurry to get our orders when the whole purpose of being there was to have a relaxed and prolonged dinner....that was explained as he put on his backpack and told us his shift was over before heading out the door. The hostess and runners pitched in and took good care of us in his absence. The food was a delight. Olive oil poached halibut, charred octopus, and handmade pastas are sure bets. Eolo lacks a little polish in ambiance and service, but the food won't disappoint. I'd go back if I were in the area.

I happened to find this restaurant on OpenTable and it was fantastic! The food was so great that we couldn't wait for the next time we go. The service was extremely friendly- our waiter had a smile and great attitude every time he stopped at our table. The only complaint I had was with the wine list- we picked out a bottle from the extensive wine list and after the waiter took the order, the sommelier came out and said the waiter was confused about which bottle we specified, and then it turned out they didn't even have it in stock. The wine they offered instead was very nice, but it was a little concerning that their menu wasn't accurate. But overall, the delicious food made up for this blunder!

Food was great and in line with most reviews; authentic and very tasty. Unfortunately the service has not imporved; still very slow considering the place was practically empty. Okay for a long, casual chat 'n chew over lunch with girlfriends or tourists but not okay for your workday lunch break or business/client lunches. The latter would NOT be impressive. Staff could use customer service training to upgrade their skills.

We had a nice dinner there, the food was alright, salmon a bit dry, lamb too old (very strong flavor). The wines are al sicilian and were reasonable for the price we paid. Would recommend it for a quick lunch maybe, or to try a different than french wine. A last piece of advice: if you prefer to stay dry, dont have a seat under the A/C :)

Went here on Friday with a friend. Their wine is quite expensive ($13/glass) - for the amount they give. They say it's a "standard 6 oz pour" and that "the wine glasses are very large - making it look like less" - which is silly. The glasses weren't any larger than normal. Anyway, the owner of the restaurant clearly missed the lesson of "make your customers happy" - as she came over to lecture my friend who asked for a top off on her glass (the server was very obliging and happy to get her a little more). Very little by way of friendliness or desire to assist - which is disappointing b/c the food was reasonably good. Skip salads and order pasta. Servers themselves were quite nice and the ambiance was fine - the owner was the worst part.

Came to Eolo with my family for lunch to celebrate my son's graduation and it was OK...not great...kind of pricey...but OK. We had the lunch menu steak, a nicely done arugula salad, home made pasta some nice desserts - all good but nothing special. We spent over 200 dollars for a lunch for 4 for good, but ordinary, cuisine...the hit of the day was the Sicilian Red wine and the service was good, but we were the only people in the place so it couldn't be bad...we won't be back.

The food at Eolo is some of the best Sicilian food I have ever eaten. The pasta con sarde is delectable, the appetizers extraordinary, the dessert divine. But the place was virtually empty! It could be the disorganized service, or the uninspired ambience, but put that aside and go enjoy some extraordinary food and save this place from going out of business!!
