The ambiance was that of a hotel restaurant. It had no lively atmosphere that we've had at other DB restaurants. The service was great. The charcuterie plate was amazing. However the beuof borg was chewy, not flaky tender like I would expect. The cow au vin was delicious except for the undercooked pasta. Over all we would go back and sit in the beautiful bar and have the charcuterie plate and a bottle of wine, but not dinner.

  • A top choice for Miami

Absolutely superb. Simple, extemely high quality. The grouper was perfect, best preparation I have ever had and this is one of my favorite fish. Only criticism is the desserts. They were too complex in contrast to the rest of the menu which stresses simplicity and brings out the taste in the high quality ingredients.

Food and service were good ... to start. Then when it got busy and we were on desserts they forgot about us. Filling water glasses didnt occur, and forgot to bring us coffee like we asked. Waiter brought the check so instead of reminding him about the coffee we decided to call it a night. I will give them one more chance but if service fails again I'm done since the cost warrants excellent service and food.

We had an amazing meal here-our waiter was SO superb, both in his extensive knowledge, as well as the manner in which he relayed that information to us-made our experience ALL the more enjoyable. The food was ALL delicious & we'll totally be going back. We had one of their tasting appetizers that was delicious, and the escargot was YUM! I had the lamb as an entree and it was SO good, I want to go back JUST for that. MUST check it out -

  • I'm a great fan of Mr Boulud
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 1/8/2011
I'm a great fan of Mr Boulud cuisine and try to visit each of his restaurants in any city I have the chance to stay. This was certainly not a great experience. Although our table was ready when we arrived and we were immediately seated, no one offered us anything to drink neither gave us the menus for some long 5 minutes or more. Then all the service was quite poor: empty glasses, empty dishes waiting to be picked up for too long, waiter pouring our usd 200 wine straight from the bottle instead of from the decanter, etc. The food is good and the ambiance is great but the overall experience doesn't worth to consider any other visit...

The restaurant and the hotel are both beautiful. We had a table for 2 that was quickly overwhelmed by the table for 2 next to us. The couple spent every second of the evening complaning about every single item served, even complained about the room temperature. The tables toward the back are very close together and ruined the experince for us. The service suffered due the mentioned couple continuos demands and distractions. the food was great thou we thought the Menu could be easier to understand. We would love to go back in some time if some changes are made.

Finally, true fine dining in downtown and just maybe the best restaurant in Miami. If you have never been to a Daniel Boulod restaurant and unaccustomed to fine French dining, then you are in for a treat. My only complaint was the wines by the glass list and my LeFlaive White Burgundy was a bit dry and "minerally"--as was the Au Bon Climat Chardonnay. But the food, to die for! And the service was impeccable.

All of our selections (mixed pate platter, scallops, duck confit and tripe) were spot-on excellent in all respects. We believe that the menu disappoints a bit in terms of a lack of more exotic selections for their bistro/fine french genre, such as more organ dishes (kidneys, sweetbreads, etc), wild game and other classical bistro prepparations (casoulet, etc). Also, while the interior decoration is indeed excellent, it appears that db's budget ran out when it was time to hang the paintings (the walls are bare) and chandaliers (similar to what we have over our kitchenette table and way small for the room).

Another Daniel Boulud gem. We didn't have the chance to try Boulud's flagship restaurant Daniel while in NYC early this year, but during our stay at The Surrey we dined at Cafe Boulud several times and found it very charming and perfect for a foodie. Miami's version has nothing to envy, especially when combining some of the Old World's charm with Miami's edginess.
