A word from CO-OP Food & Drink
Located on the ground floor of Hotel on Rivington in NYC’s Lower East Side, CO-OP Food & Drink is based on the co-operative principle of bringing together different services and products under one space for everyone’s benefit. Under the leadership of Executive Chef Victor Startek, they bring together different ingredients, flavors and cultures that reflect the diversity that is the Lower East Side.

This philosophy allows guests to enjoy a variety of plates such as the Tuna Tuna Yuzu Sushi Roll (w/ spicy tuna, tuna, avocado & yuzu dynamite sauce), Shredded Pork Belly Tacos (w/ Ancho BBQ, Smoked Creama, Beets), Fried Chicken Biscuits (w/ ranch & pickled jalapeno aioli) and Miso Cured Salmon (w/ peanut sauce, watermelon radish & pickled celery root). In the spirit of a co-operative, most of the dishes are designed to be shared family-style through multiple courses.

Definitely a scene after 9P and DEAFENING. Food superb, but serving was rushed even for a 7P reservation when we were the only people in the place. But the food...FABULOUS...by 9P the music and was deafening and crowds was taping away on cell phones while shouting across the tables.

I enjoyed the variety and the sushi was excellent. Make sure to try the starter of sauteed peppers. I have never tried anything like them; great cross of spicey & sweet. If you can't take a lot of heat, make sure to slice them open and scrape out the seeds.

Trendy hot spot with great ambience. Unfortunately portions are small and pricey. It's hard to graze on their small samples without spending $100 if you want to walk out feeling full. Drinks are also $16 and beers $8-10.

Our waiter had bad body odor, and provided bad service. You would imagine on an off night like a Tuesday night where the restaurant was not packed, that he'd have made it to the table more often. I had to order my second glass from the busboy as the waiter had not come by when my glass was empty. He had an attitude when we wanted to order in waves as we weren't sure how many small/large plates we wanted. He tried to remove the menu a number of times - provided no dinner specials, but did mention about the number of drinks that were not available and had been 86'd. Overall, bad experience - which is a shame as I'd been there a few times previously, and I loved the food - especially the new seasonal dishes on there.

We went here on a Wednesday night and the back room that every one likes was closed. I was surprised when they tried to seat our party of 4 at a lounge-like table in the front of the restaurant that had 2 small leather ottomans as chairs. We immediately asked for a "real table" as several were empty in the back. The service was ok, a little disorganized and nothing great. The hostess was nice enough but the bar only had a handful of stools so we had to stand while waiting for our group to arrive. A tiny glass of white wine was $13...generally sushi was good. We mostly focused on that. Spicy tuna on fried rice not half as good as Katsyua in LA or Nobu, but still pretty tasty. The other rolls were good but nothing spectacular.

Unless you are trying to show your date or friends that you are the coolest kid in town, there is no need to dine at Co-Op. Save your money and go to the club at Hotel Rivington instead. The food here is extremely overpriced and you do not get much in return in terms of volume or taste. Additionally, the service is pretty but not proficient and the decor (wall is filled with large photos of B-listers) is more of a distraction than an appeal.

Went to celebrate my birthday and had a great experience. The back dining room is bright because of the glass ceiling, with great portraits covering the walls (I think they are of well-known people, but not sure). The twin black chandeliers were a great touch! The food was a little hit and miss - the sliders were really good, while the duck buns were only OK. The truffle mac and cheese was also really good, but the scallop nachos were better than average, but not as good as the mac and cheese. The desserts were generally very good, though. The background music was notably catchy, and we didn't have to shout over it to be heard. Overall, pretty decent place.

I've been there twice - once on a Sat night for dinner with the girls, and this latest time on a Tuesday evening for a double date. Both times the food was outstanding. Sat night was party night - it was packed to the brim, red velvet ropes outside, DJ, dancing by the bar, quite the scene. Tue night was much quieter with more of a focus on the food/service than on the party scene.

My experience at Co-Op was excellent. I thought the food and service were both excellent. I had read reviews where they criticized the service, but I had a totally great experience. Our waiter was friendly and informative and other people were always offering to help as well. The Co-op roll, Tokyo Lobster roll, Lobster shots, Sliders and Carpaccio tacos were especially good. It was a fun atmosphere and delicious cocktails. It is expensive, but it's a hot, fun restaurant in the LES so that's to be expected.

Overall the experience was good. The service I have to say was poor. I had made a reservation for 8.45pm, but was not seated until 9.30pm. I also had requested to sit in the main dining area, however, they failed to do so and sat us at the bar. The food and drinks were very good. I would recommend "The light" for a drink, it is basically a passion fruit martini. Food recommendations would include the spicy tuna crunch, salmon roll, black cod miso, the lollipop chicken. The also serve truffle popcorn which is great. The scene is young, trendy, fun, slightly pretentious (in a good way). Also a good spot to go to before a night out. I was disappointed with the staff, which would be the reason for not going again!
