A word from CO-OP Food & Drink
Located on the ground floor of Hotel on Rivington in NYC’s Lower East Side, CO-OP Food & Drink is based on the co-operative principle of bringing together different services and products under one space for everyone’s benefit. Under the leadership of Executive Chef Victor Startek, they bring together different ingredients, flavors and cultures that reflect the diversity that is the Lower East Side.

This philosophy allows guests to enjoy a variety of plates such as the Tuna Tuna Yuzu Sushi Roll (w/ spicy tuna, tuna, avocado & yuzu dynamite sauce), Shredded Pork Belly Tacos (w/ Ancho BBQ, Smoked Creama, Beets), Fried Chicken Biscuits (w/ ranch & pickled jalapeno aioli) and Miso Cured Salmon (w/ peanut sauce, watermelon radish & pickled celery root). In the spirit of a co-operative, most of the dishes are designed to be shared family-style through multiple courses.

We had a lovely dinner with great wine and food. Our waiter was spectacular, friendly, helpful and nice. After dinner we went to the bar for drinks. The bar is beautiful, and the bartender was a doll. We really had a great night. Can't wait to go back!

Almost hope that the executive chef was on vacation. Staff was super friendly yet "unprofessional" what is supposed to be a higher end restaurant. Quick rundown of items ordered - hamachi tartar - something "off" with the fish. Don't think fish was turning but not an enjoyable flavor. 2 bites and when waiter picked up dish looked at me and asked how it was, responded that it was a little off and he said oh and walked away? Shrimp and grits - grits were tasty with tons of butter, bacon was good, shrimp were covered in what looked like chili powder but butter overpowered it. All parts were prepared well but did not pair well together, no complexity Purple potato roll - enjoyed Rivington sliders - excellent Asparagus - uncooked w/char marks

Service was a little slow, but the food was creative and tasty. The entire restaurant was empty when we walked in at 7, but by the time we finished eating, the bar and lounge up front were packed and loud, with a DJ to match the energy.

Too many people coming to the table asking the same questions. Not enough communication of staff to the point where we didn't even know who our server was. Were never able to finish one course before another course was brought out. Very rushed but not because it felt like they were trying to get us out of there, just zero communication. Ginger fried chicken and the co-op sushi roll were both amazing!!!

Had a wonderful time!! The only draw-back was that the outside door opens directly into the dining area, making it a little cold in the winter. Would highly recommend the sliders. MMMMMMM the truffle parmesan fries they come with will keep me coming back again and again. Cocktails were also well proportioned and inventive. Impressive spot to take a date!

The food was amazing. the grilled squid a la plancha was excellent and the fluke was bit salty but over looking that with a glass of water it was pretty good. One of the best pecan pies I've had. pecan pies are usually hard and dry - this one was just perfect soft and tasty the way i prefer it. Service was great.

The food was great but the service was erratic. Food came piled one dish on top of the other. I was sitting there with 3 of my Restaurant Week courses almost at one time while the other people at the table had just finished their salads and were waiting for a main course. The atmosphere was fun. The music very loud. But the food was inventive and fun and delicious. We felt there should be a few cheaper wines on the list. A $55 bottle wine as the cheapest wine didn't work for us. Especially as it wasn't such a great wine.

Went to Co-Op for a friend's birthday. It was my first time there so really didn't know what to expect. I went off the decor alone in the pictures on their page, and their sushi options. I had purchased gifts for the friend so I arrived before her and asked them to hold them, which they obliged. The food was great. I had the chicken tenders and she had sushi. The truffle fries were a welcome change from the stale bread you usually get on the table at the beginning of your meals. After our meal, they gave her a birthday cake with the gifts, per my request, which I don't believe they charged for. We didnt get seated in the dining room which I preferred, but overall it was a really good experience & she loved it. I'll definitely be back there.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009

So now that I've eaten at Coop I have officially eaten at all of the restaurants that have attempted to open in the THOR space (The Hotel on Rivington). I can't quite figure out what the problem is but it's noisy, terrible lighting, no ambience and feels a bit like you are eating in the lobby of a midtown office building. I wish I could be more positive. The food was fine. NOt overwhelmingly good and not terrible. Our server was lovely. The bus boys cleared not one but two of our dishes before we had finished them so a bit overzealous in that regard. I think the problem may be the space but some excellent restaurant folks have attempted to have a go at it in that space and it just feels all wrong so perhaps a redesign could help.

I love Co-op. The food is delicious especially the sushi items like the Co-op roll, ceviche tacos, hamachi crunch sashimi and spicy tuna on crispy rice. The Lobster Shots are so amazing that all you could hear was mmm, oooh, yum from the table when we were having them. The cocktails are inventive and yummy and the bartender honored our request to make them less sweet. The service was quick and friendly, but not rushed at all. I highly recommend this place for a fun night out with great food.

We dined there during restaurant week and had a 6pm reservation. The restaurant was not at all busy and service was very slow. The waiter didn't come to check on us and all but rushed us out before 7pm and we had 3 courses to get through. I had been to the bar before and knew it could be a scene but there was really nothing special about the food or scene on this night.
