A word from Noble Rot
Noble Rot opened in May 2002. It has gained local and national attention including the NY Times, the Wine Spectator & Gourmet. The Willamette Week named Noble Rot "Restaurant of the Year" in 2003 & Sunset Magazine named it “2009 Wine Bar of the Year”.
The best way to plunge into the Rot is through the wine flights that are offered each day. They also display a large bottle selection and all the wines are available to go.
Noble Rot’s highly regarded, locally sourced, seasonal food menu is made up of small plates with intense flavors. Noble Rot is perched atop the fourth floor in an award winning, environmentally sound, Leed-platinum certified building (the greenest!) which includes a fantastic west facing city view. With its outdoor patio seating, it is one of the best places in the city to watch the sunset.

The food was amazing. Cocktails, starters, salads, mains and dessert! The staff seemed rushed - maybe they were short staffed that night. They were all nice but hard to get thier attention for long. A bit more attention could have made for a perfect evening.

The food was great. Unique and delicious. Our server was provided good enough service but he was a bit too relaxed. He seemed to be working so hard to be casual and unpretentious that he came of very aloof. He wasn't horrible but he could have been a little more attentive. The view was surprising and nice. The food was excellent and unique. We did wine flights and they were less than impressive. I would choose my own glass next time instead of doing a flight. I do highly recommend Noble Rot.

The view was to die for, not many like it in the city. Other than that, the food is sub-par, go there to drink wine and to eat appetizers or small dishes. Dinner fell low on my list especially when it is priced so high, my expectations will be high.

Our special occasion dinner was very good. Appetizers, salads, main course, desserts and drinks were all excellent. Service was attentive but not hovering. Menu for main courses is limited so best to check the website beforehand to make sure they'll have something you want. We were there on a Wednesday and I found it rather noisy when it was half full. I would imagine that a busy weekend night would be quite loud.

We've followed the owners from a wine shop on Fremont to their store on Ankeny, and now to Burnside. Parking was difficult, mainly because the area is very confusing with one-way streets and disallowed turns. The food was wonderful. The wine flights were tasty and affordable.

I requested that we be given a window seat as it was my wife's 30th birthday. When they called the day before to confirm the reservation I stated it again. When we arrived and all throughout the meal service was just ok. The fact that there was no mention of her birthday at all made us skip out on dessert and go somewhere else. The food and wine was spectacular but a little more attention to guests would go a long way. I might return but I won't rush to get back like I had hoped.

Overall very nice experience. Helpful drink recommendations. Excellent staff. Good atmosphere. Beautiful view. The other party members really enjoyed their meals. The only negative for me personally was my steak. The steak was perfectly cooked in terms of doneness (the rare side of medium rare) but unfortunately it had an unpalatable boiled, limp texture. I have a feeling that it was cooked sous vide (not necessary a bad thing) and just had a seriously inadequate sear. Definitely wouldn't recommend the steak. Definitely would recommend the restaurant.

What a disappointment. The food was amazing. The service was pleasant. But we reserved a table for two for our special celebration night out and were shown to a table in the glassed in porch area. The tables were so close together, there wasn't room to pull a chair out. So we changed to a different table on the porch with not as great of a view. Then a family showed up with lots of loud kids. We asked to move and were told the inside tables were all reserved.

I would recommend this with a few caveats. I can bet that it's a great happy hour place. The venue is cozy but classy, the view amazing. The wine selection was great, one cocktail was great, the other mediocre, food was good but not necessarily for the price charged. The butternut squash panini was the table favorite and the cheese plate was quite delectable and varied. We went with a group of 10 so it's hard to tell if the service was a bit lackluster due to our size or another factor. Our favorite feature by far was the ambiance and wine flight selections.

I realize the restaurant business is tough. It is hard work and it's hard to make money. Nonetheless, some do things better than others. Here are my gripes: 1) very expensive; actually too expensive -- there ought to be wine choices that are friendlier to one's wallet and the price-to-portion-sizes of the appetizers and side dishes are out of whack. 2) mediocre food...my fish was really awful; tasteless and salty. The olives appetizer plate was good, but the bread was a bit dry. The cheese plate was excellent.

Love the booth tables which are great for viewing the city, groups of 4 to 6 are comfortable and can converse easily. We had a little trouble hearing the server over the noise, but she was patient about repeating herself. My only complaint is about the ceiling lighting, which is pretty bright for dining in the evening. Where I sat, my head cast a shadow directly in front of me so I had to sit at an angle to read the menu and see what I was eating. This was not a problem for the other 3 people in my party, so I think it is just some of the seats. Lights that shine on the center of the table would be much better.

I was there on Valentines Day, notoriously an expensive and busy day, so I'm not sure how I'd rate it on a normal night. My cocktail was wonderful! The food was overpriced I thought(but then it was a fixed price Valentine's menu), good but not great. The presentaion of the food was beautiful! The portions were perfect! The view is outstanding!

The food was a big let down, my lobster was boiled to mush and lacked all flavor except for the salt/spices that covered it. My friend got a steak and the same could be said for his meal. The atmosphere was really nice and the wine was good, but I will not go back for food. Great for a happy hour drink.

Amazing view of downtown on a stormy evening. Our waitress was delightful, very helpful with both food and wine choices and was patient with our group. Everything that we tried was great - the endive salad, the pork tenderloin and the flourless chocoalte cake were all outstanding and the mac and cheese was a big hit as well. Will definitely go back to try other items from the menu and would not hesitate to recommend it.
