A word from Estadio
From the talents behind Proof, Estadio recently debuted on trendy 14th St NW, above Logan Circle. According to blog.zagat.com 'offering contemporary takes on regional classics in pintxos, tapas and entree-sized portions, along with sandwiches on housemade bread, all washed down by Iberian wines (many under $10 a glass) and frozen alcoholic slushies; the über-stylish setting incorporates decorative wrought iron, reclaimed timber, colorful tiles and themed murals, with seating at a large concrete bar, a marble counter facing the open kitchen and window-side tables perfect for scoping the vibrant street scene.'

Great tapas in substantial portions--we practically rolled out of here after a few pintxos, some sandwiches, and a few sides. The food was great--interesting, well-prepared, and fun. The gin and tonics were the best that we've had, anywhere. Service was solidly friendly and professional.

A great addition to the DC dining scene. Food is very good, although the current trend of offering menus consisting of just small plates is really annoying. While it is nice to have dishes to share, the portions are VERY small and by the time you are finished eating it is very EXPENSIVE. I eat out alot and do not mind shelling out $ to dine out. I do it often but Estadio is pushing it a bit. Also the drinks are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced ..$10-11$ for a small drink that you can drink down in 4 sips. Also 4.5oz glasses of wine are too small too .

Estadio is a lovely room and we had a very pleasant dining experience. There is a good wine selection and also a good beer selection. The food is delicious. However, beyond the names and the size of the dishes, I would not really characterize it as Spanish cooking. Nevertheless, it was very good. The service is fine. Altogether, a nice place to go with friends for tapas-style eating.

I guess I'm just not a fan of tappas. Servings seemed disjointed. Service was not very friendly or seemed too busy to provide attention. I felt rushed. Salads were very good and I'd probably go back for that and the bar scene but not to get a hardy meal. The chorizo was very spicy hot, too hot for my wife and daughter. I liked the octopus but it could have been more tender. The pork belly needed to be more tender also. Not close to my favorite in DC.

This was our second visit and the food was again outstanding. This time we had brunch. Unfortunatley the service was only so-so. They told open table that I did not show up.. so I had to request a credit. The server was really busy but tried to attend to our needs. There were a few times when we were waiting for him to give us some attention. But the food rolls out pretty fast... and it is excellent.

Estadio is a very popular, lively place. The hostesses greeted us warmly and we were immediately shown to our seats. The service was just right. Not obtrusive but very attentative; timing was perfect. The food gets mixed reviews from us. We have lived in Spain. Thought the jamon and the crema catalana were very good. The croquetas de jamon were so-so and the ensaladiila rusa was very disappointing. The beet salad was good.

Unfortunately I don't have enough room here to talk about everythign I ate, but let me highlight a few: The Charcuterie board - Get it! The chorizo was the best, but the serrano ham ran a very close second. Bacalao - I love bacalao; I spent 2 years in Portugal and it is pretty much at every meal in every way imaginable. It is one of my all time favorites. The use of the jalapenos gave a nice spice that was offset by the creaminess of the avocado and the acid from the citrus. A very satisfying dish and one I could eat again and again My one disappointment was how the wine was served - in the same tumbler that the water was.

This is a delicious tapas restaurant that is worth going to to Login Circle for, but be sure to get reservations plenty of time in advance. The cheese and charcuterie boards includes delicious jamon and chorizo, mahon, manchego, among others. The highlights of our tapas included the grilled mushrooms, the halibut, and the skewers of Manchego and quince. The desserts were delicious, especially the toffee float. It was disappointing that they served the wine in regular glasses; though Spanish-authentic, I still prefer to drink my wine out of a proper glass. The service was a bit slow, but I have mixed feelings about that: it was great not to feel pressured to leave the table, but at times we couldn't find our server.

I took my parents and girlfriend to dinner here on a Sat night. The food was well-executed and service was very good. Some standouts...The Chorizo, manchego & pistachio crusted quince pintxo. This was a crazy mix of creamy, salty, savory, and sweet goodness on a skewer! Eat this in a single bite to get the full effect! The crispy duck breast, beluga lentils, and Catalan greens was prepared perfectly. Tender, moist, flavorful. The lentils and greens really added a visual and flavor contrast. The roasted wild mushroom, parsley, garlic. My one critique about the wine service here is that it's served in the same type rocks glass that the water is served. Estadio has surpassed Jaleo in Penn Qtr as my favorite tapas joint in town.

Disappointing. We love proof and we were excited about Estadio, esp. because we live in the neighborhood. The food was disappointing to say the least. Aside from the food being blah and underwhelming, it felt like the restaurant was really trying to cut corners with the amount of food (really trying to stretch the concept of small plates too far). Not worth the hoopla. We will give it another try just to be sure. The decor was great.

We arrived with high expectations based on the positive comments. Maybe we hit it on an off-night or maybe it was because we arrived moments before the Friday night rush. We thought it was good, but it didn't knock our socks off. Like any dining experience, if you have a mediocre server, that doesn't help. He did not make us feel welcome; we were just another table. In fact, we got better attention and service from the food runners and bussers. Food: of the four plates we ordered, the mushroom croquettas and the duck with lentils were our favorites. Wine: great selection, but very skimpy on the pours - almost insulting, really, particularly at their per glass prices. Will we go back? Probably. We believe in 2nd chances.

I liked Estadio much better the second time around, but I hope that the policy of not accepting reservations for parties of 2 to 4 after 6:00 p.m. will change soon. I also hope that allowing people to gather around the bar while diners are trying to eat at the small tables for two on the side will change even sooner. It's very uncomfortable to have people standing all around you while dining and very difficult for the service staff to get through the aisles. It simply isn't working!

As foodies who have just returned from Spain we found the food to be authentically good. It would be great if they could offer platters of Tapas on the bar for you to select from as they do in Spain. That would be authentic! The first new Tapas place to give Jaleo a run for the money!

This past weekend's positive WaPo rating for Estadio did not reflect my two experiences there this past week. Overall, I found the food - I had the chicken, grilled octupus, steak, bean and tomato salad, scallops, croquettes, and patatas bravas - not remarkable. I really enjoy the food at Proof and had high hopes for Estadio that were not met. Both evenings I had wine that was disappointing - including one $80 bottle of Rioja from 1996 that I found the next day at Wegman's for $35. I know restaurants mark up wine, but this was absurd for a wine that was nothing special. My first evening, I felt rushed by the service, even though it was good. I would not go back anytime soon.

Loved the food - while they warn about the "small plates" they were not that small and we enjoyed sharing a wide range of food. The service was great - friendly, fast, efficient - and when the waiter brought one "wrong" dessert and simply left us the wrong one so we could try it and quickly brought the right one, too. The only downside - and this is true so many places - was the sound level....it was very loud!

Loved our dinner. The best Spanish tapas in town. Careful preparation and authentic flavors. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine list and had an excellent recommendation for our taste and price range. Estadio has been getting a lot of good press lately and it's all well earned. I can't wait to go back. We did bring our 2 month old infant and they were very accommodating. It was a weekday and I think a weekend visit with a child would be a little hairy.

First of all, I'm a sucker for restaurants with this kind of style. The gorgeous bar dominates the center of the space and sit-down diners spread around the outside of the room. Apparently the terracotta bricks were brought in from a 19th century Spanish mansion and everything else in the room seems more contemporary. Estadio isn't a bargain and if you come too hungry, you'll leave poor, but everything will be delicious. I went for an anniversary so I didn't mind. One final note, I went shortly after it opened so I'm not sure if it still has the noise and energy of a full house.

We enjoyed our meal at Estadio. In general, the food was prepared and presented very well, and the service was attentive and friendly. The real hits from our meal were the heirloom tomatoes, deviled eggs, and the chorizo with manchego and pistachio encrusted quince. Really nice. And the gin and tonic was an excellent beverage; not much like what I'd make at home! We could have passed on the figs with blue cheese and ham, and the mussels were average. But overall, very pleasant meal.

My experience at Estadio surpassed my recent visit to the Jaleo in Bethesda. We had the scallops with cauliflower, carne mixto, octopus with potato salad, fresh anchovies, sauteed wild mushrooms, & scallions in romesco. The latter were chewy but tasty. I loved how the sliced meats weren't too salty, and the bread served with them was amazing and freshly baked/sliced. For dessert, we had the warm peach cake with thyme caramel and vanilla ice cream and the chocolate hazelnut cake with espresso ice cream. The garnish on the chocolate hazelnut cake was a little odd tasting, and the chocolate in the cake overpowered any hazelnut flavor it may have had, but it was still good, just intense. Service was fantastic. Got rather loud but was tolerable.

Food and service at Estadio is outstanding! We went on a sunday evening and sat at the bar where ( meg?) the bartender took care of us from beginning to end which was nearly two hours of wonderful food and drink. The specialty cava cocktails were really surprisingly different and tasty. There is a bad review floating out there which criticizes the size of the drinks... that may be due to the fact that glasses used are significantly larger than a standard 4-5 ounce serving.. but dont let that fool you... it's a standard serving - everything meg recommended to us was really terrific: the cocktails and the sparkling rose were perfect compliments to light and beautifully seasoned scallops...smoky hangar steak and delicious stuffed figs d
