  • A one time experience

We went here for my daughter's 8th birthday. She picked the restaurant. Although the novelty is fun the food is very expensive and not very relaxing. The menu is quite confusing when ordering. The appetizer was a cheese fondue which came with more bread for dipping than vegetables. The entrees meats were very tough, not a great cut, and the chocolate fondue came with more cake like dipping items than fruit. We did ask the waitress for additional vegetables and a plate of fruit. The waitress was wonderful and brought it for us. Bottom line, it is fun to go once for the experience however, once is enough.

We had a great time at the melting pot. The food was good and everyone had a lot of fun. I liked cooking our own food, it helped to pass the time while we ate. And I liked that I could cook things for how long I wanted. We went for restaurant week and the menu was fabulous. A salad, 3 choices for entree and any chocolate fondue on the menu. It was an excellent selection for the price. Also our waitress, Wendy, was fabulous. She was upbeat, extremely knowledgeable on the menu and had great suggestions. She was awesome. If you have her for your waitress, she will take care of you!

Service friendly and accommodating. Appetizer and desert fondues very good. Skip the entrees and salads. Quality of ingredients is high, but overall uninspiring and far too expensive for food (3 entrees, appetizer & desserts for 2, w/drinks, tip - $210) you have to cook yourself in flavored broth or oil - one slow piece at a time. This is all about the novelty. If I went again, and I doubt that I would, I'd go for drinks and appetizer or dessert, but that's it. (Somehow filet mignon cooked in broth, no matter how flavorful, simply is lacking in that you miss out on the marvelous flavoring that browning gives you. Same for shrimp.) This may be every bit as good as any fondue restaurant, but would never consider it "fit for foodies".

I have now been to all 3 Melting Pots in the Boston area and they are all solid. I think I like the Back Bay one best - the wait staff there has just been extra happy and charming on my visits. This MP in Bedford has everything you come to expect from this chain. Try it - it's cozy and fun with fantastic portions and food combos.

Always a fun evening, but I think too pricey for dinner. Considering we have to cook it ourselves...which of course is half the fun but still pretty steep. $150.00 for three people? That's a lot. I'd stick with cheese fondue and dessert fondue and skip the middle. Lots of food.

  • The restaurant is overpriced
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 3/21/2012
The restaurant is overpriced for having to cook your own food. Our service was fair to poor. Our server served our entree and then we didn't see him again for a LONG while. At one point I said to my husband "I think we were forgotten". We eventually got our chocolate fondue, which was awesome. We didn't have the cheese fondue, so I can't comment on that. I had the spinach salad, which was mediocre; the dressing for it was awful. My husband had the house salad with house dressing which was good. The entrees and sauces were good. Again, you had to cook it, so I didn't think it justified the price. Our seating in the "Lovers Lane" section was very nice. We tried it, it was ok, but probably wouldn't go back for dinner; maybe dessert.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2002VIP
    Dined on 3/9/2012
The Melting Pot is one of our favorite "special occassion" restaurants. Fondue in general is a very fun and social way to eat food, and this restaurant consistently provides an overall excellent experience, but it IS pretty pricey, and the wine glasses are inexplicably small. They have a wonderful cocktail menu, the bartenders mix some very creative drinks, and the wine list is decent, but the wine glasses are just a step above dixie cups, and hold only about 6 ounces leaving no swirling room.

  • Great Service & Food - A Fun Place!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009VIP

We love The Melting Pot for family gatherings. We have a family member with significant allergies. The manager/asst manager always briefs his staff and oversees the preparation/delivery of her food. It's wonderful to see how seriously they take the issue. There is a great assortment of foods and the drinks are wonderful. Tabletop cooking is fun for everyone, kids and adults alike. The food is always fresh and there are interesting cooking liquids and dipping sauces. Tempura and a beer batter as pre-cooking options - yummy recent additions. The chocolate fondues are to die for - love the turtle version. The prices aren't cheap, but the experience, quality/variety of food and drinks, and the exemplary service are well worth it. A fun place!

GREETED BY HOSTESS CHOMPING ON GREEN GUM. WENT OVER SCHOOL VACATION WEEKDAY AT 5:00, COMPLETELY EMPTY, TOOK 3 CHILDREN FOR CHOCOLATE COURSE ($50) WERE RUSHED AND IGNORED. WERE ONLY THERE FOR 45 MINUTES.. WAITER ASKED IF WE WANTED CHECK WHEN HE BROUGHT US COLD CHOCOLATE AND ALL THE SIDES TO DIP INTO CHOCOLATE. WE WERE COMPLETELY IGNORED BY WAITER AND HOSTESS WHEN WE LEFT, EVEN WHEN OUR YOUNG CHILDREN SAID "GOODBYE, THANK YOU" MAYBE BECAUSE WE WERE DRINKING WATER AND HAD CHILDREN WITH US, OR MAYBE BECAUSE WE ONLY DID THE DESSERT COURSE, THEY FELT THAT THIS TREATMENT WAS JUSTIFIED.. BUT THAT IS WHY WE WENT AT 5:00 AS SOON AS THEY OPENED..AND THE CHILDREN WERE WELL BEHAVED. WE TRIED TO CONTACT THE RESTAURANT BY EMAIL, BUT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL..

It was really fun eating here. It is a dinner to linger over, as you make your own as you go. The cheese fondue was very good, the filet mignon excellent. Other aspects of the meal were a bit less stellar. The bread for dipping in the fondue I found tough and flavorless. The warm spinach salad sounded great but the dressing was supposed to be warm and it was not, and too sweet for my taste. We had the plain dark chocolate fondue and while it was good, it was not stellar. I highly recommend the 4 hands Cabernet - get a bottle rather than a glass - it is a good deal. Overall, a great experience but due to mixed food quality, will not rush back.

Recently went to Melting Pot (bedford ma) location. The fondue was fantastic. We felt there was a push from the server to go with the "big night out" or "four course" offering , but trust me, you'll leave plenty full going with two fondue offerings and a salad. My suggestion is go with either cheese fondue, salad, and dessert fondue or Entree and dessert fondue. Again, that is plenty of food and you'll save about $25.00. Service was great, the dessert fondue was amazing!

The Melting pot was an truly delightful find for us. I'm a big fan of fondue but wasn't sure about going to a restaurant to make something I can do myself at home. However the delicious, fresh food and stellar service at the melting pot was so memorable and delicious, we will Be going back for sure. The ambience also is wonderful ... We were in a cozy table for two and enjoyed feeling a bit secluded. The prices are Also quite reasonable which is not always true of fondue places.
