The food was good, but we felt a bit rushed at the beginning of our visit. We had barely taken our seats when the waiter asked for our drink orders, and our meals arrived before we'd had a chance to get halfway through our pre-dinner drinks. It was only later, when the server thought to ask if we were trying to make a theatre curtain and we said we were not, that the pace slowed down to something acceptable.

The wait staff, hostess and bartender were all efficient, friendly, and helpful regarding menu selections. Even though we were on our way to the theatre, we were able to enjoy a leisurely and most delicious meal. Can't wait to return for those fabulous oysters and my husband is still talking about the fried chicken! The only disappointment was that B. Smith did not make an appearance but I did the next best thing and purchased her cookbook!

the matre d was outstanding and helped fix a service delay with a round of drinks.enjoyed the fried green tomatoes..but noticed that the woman next to me......ordered the same salmon entree and hers was twice the size....is there no uniformity?other than that..the meal was a bit different and i enjoyed the ambiance.

We went for brunch and where very satisfied with our meals. My French Toast was delicious the omelet my friend got looked really good she was very happy with her choice. I just wish we had some room to try the breadpudding that sounded delicious. I was very happy to find this place for brunch in the theater district. I can't wait to go back for dinner and have the breadpudding. I give this restaurant a thumbs up for food and atmosphere. I will be sure to recommend it as I'm always asked for suggestions on where to go eat.

knats hovering over our food when the air conditioner was off, when on, it was absolutely to cold to enjoy, there was no happy medium, the food was horrible, my husband had southern fried chicken which appeared to be pre cooked and refried it didnt look fresh at all, i had toodori shrimp, the waiter warned it was spicy, that was fine with me , however the shrimp carried a flavor like it was put on a plate and served with sauce, i returned after one bite, I was not charged for it, all in all I was thoroughly disappointed. I will not return and advise others not to waste there time

While my family found B. Smiths to be a nice establishment with good food and pleasant atmosphere. We do feel it was a bit over priced and not something we would be able to do on a regular basis on trips to the city. Without desert, my family of four spent over $160 (tip included). It was my wife's birthday but that is far too much for a family even though an $80 - $100 bill might be great for a couple on a romantic date. We may try it again as a couple.

I especially came for the lamb and you were out of it at 5:00. That is what I came for. We went to a play and I came for my birthay which was ruined. In was not happy with my dinner

A planned w"Girls Weekend Away" for a group of Virgina Ladies who enjoyed the theatrical experience of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof followed by a enjoyable dinner at B Smiths. The highlight of the evening included the food but was made especially nice by the mannerism of our Waiter Colby. Colby, was professionally charming, well educated about the history of the restaurant, extrmely complimentry of the owner and management. He made excellent reccomendations and was truly passionate and honored to work for B' Smiths. I look forward to returning with a group in August after the performance of Whoopi's production of For Colored girls who Considered Suicide when the Rainbow wasn't enough. Deneen Evans

The fried chicken and the ribs were great. The salmon was very small and oily. We really wanted fried green tomatoes and they had none. No espresso because the machine was down. We were quite upset about paying $10 for a fancy bottled water. The waiter asked if we wanted sparkling or flat water. We said "plain or flat". We didn't realize we would be charged for plain water. And upon leaving we saw water glasses being refilled by pitchers of plain water downstairs on the main level. We will not return.

The kale was undercooked. The corn pudding was not very good, did not finish it. The salad was wonderful as was the bread pudding. The beverages were over priced at $4.25 per glass of Sprite without refill. The Pre-Theater 3-course meal was very reasonably priced at $19.95. We were given the opportunity for a leisurely lunch and were admitted earlier than the 11:30 reservation time. We appreciated the opportunity to come in out of the cold wind. Staff was very accommodating - entire platter was replaced when hair was found when the plate was placed on the table.

my dinner partner was recommened a cocktail by our waitress natatlie, my partner didnt like the taste and asked for another drink. she told us sure she would get him another drink but he would have to pay for the drink he didnt like. Is this normal policy or should we had ask for a supervisor. Anyway, several times we had to get her attention just for the small stuff, like water, bread or just to start our order. Maybe our experience would had been a little better if we had someone who was will to be a little attentive of our needs. Overall the food was good, and I would come back again with my daughter

The service was extraordinarily poor. Our waiter did not even notice that we were at our table for 15 minutes. Our daughter's order did not come with ours. We had to ask two busboys to find our waiter. When he investigated he discovered he had accidentally canceled her order so her food did not come until after we had finished ours. The potatoes were cold, the fritata bland. We had to ask for bread twice. We were given apologies from the waiter but not from the manager and were offered no compensation for the totally unacceptable service-- no discount or courtesy drink. We will not be back

We ordered several appetizers, pre-theater. The food was disappointing -- the green tomatoes were bland and flavorless (same for the fried oysters)and the crab cakes were over-salted. A beet salad has a small sprinkling of beets over greens for $13 -- overpriced. When I mentioned to the waitress that I thought there would be more beets in the salad, she offered to bring me more as a side but she never did. We usually go to Angus McIndoe for pre-theater, but we decided to shake it up and try B. Smith's again. We'll go back to Angus from now on.

Our waiter opened our bottle of wine when he brought it to the table. He poured a taste for me to test the bottle and it was fine. He FAILED to fill the glasses after that. He just set the bottle down and walked away from the table. The next time he touched it was to remove the empty bottle. The two women next to me waiter more than 40 minutes for their entrees though they were dealing with the time constraint of the theater. One woman never received he entree and the other didn't have time to eat hers. She was charged for it anyway. The service is just plain BAD.

Gave this place a second chance for a pre-theatre lunch. The service was mediocre and the wait for our entree was interminable, with the waiter coming over a few times to apologize.
