On our vacation, I wanted to re-live my childhood and take my husband to Eclipse. Back in the late '70s, my father used to have conventions at the Hyatt, and some of my best memories are from here. Well, 2013 didn't disappoint. The lobby is as magnificent as I remembered, and Eclipse is truly civilized, dignifed dining. The food was outstanding. I had the Coq a Vin (herbed and seasoned to perfection, warm, earthy and comforting), and my husband had the crab cakes (perfectly airy and flavorful) and the Crab Louie Salad, which he said was very fresh and delicious. Our server was helpful and prompt, and the support staff were conscientious about refilling our water, replacing flatware, etc. An outstanding meal.

I found this restaurant when searching through dine about town listings and I'm glad I chose it. The way the Hyatt Regency was decorated created the perfect ambience for the meal. With hundreds of strung lights hanging from the ceiling it felt as though I was dining out doors. The food was delicious, especially the chocolate molten cake for dessert. The drinks were worth the price, the bar did not skimp on the alcohol. Overall we had a nice evening.

Thank you to our server for an excellent dining experience at a Sunday lunch at Eclipse, It was so refreshing to dine in a San Francisco restaurant that was quiet & we could hear each other speak. The food was very good & the service was outstanding. We'll definitely return. Thank you!

The food was good, but not worth the price. I cannot imagine how good the food would need to be to make up for the terrible service. This was the first time either of us had experienced such terrible service: We waited at least 10 minutes at our table before being greeted, waited 15 minutes for our appetizer, and 25 minutes for our entrees. To top it off, no one ever came by to check on us - not once! There were no refills on water, they did not ask if we wanted to order more cocktails, and they were cold and generally unfriendly. We waited a very long time for the check, and eventually gave our card to a server from a different section. It still took a very long time to get the receipt. I strongly recommend avoiding this location!

Food was good, but not spectacular. I probably will go back because you always find a table there and it's a really nice place to chit chat. I go there to meet old friends and meet with clients. It's so quiet, you actually don't get your water poured or any server ice there.

Had a business lunch at Eclipse. The location is very convenient for getting people together. However, the service was lacking. We had to ask for everything...asked to order, asked for cream for coffee, asked for coffee refills, etc. The waiter was totally oblivious to us. He seemed totally disinterested in waiting on us. I might think twice about returning.

As we were having a late night snack (9:30 P.M.) the servers seemed tired and lacked enthusiasm. The food was good but we were eating light. It took three tries to get lemons we wanted for our water, finally the manager helped us. Our server never came to check on us after the meal came, only at the end to present the check. The bus boys were busy setting tables for breakfast and throwing out garbage, not attending to diners.

Enjoyed Christmas dinner with spouse. Great holiday atmosphere. Food better than average for a hotel. We both chose prime rib and had a huge amount leftover. Desert was holiday styled but a bit oversweet. Tables a bit tight, could hear two conversations besides our own. Staff attentive and efficient.

We went for Breakfast with Santa, and although the ambiance was nice because of the beautiful lobby and amazing strings of lights hanging from the hotel room balconies above, it still had the feeling of a restaurant in a hotel lobby. The breakfast buffet for the kids was excellent, it was all their favorites: chocolate chip pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, holiday cookies, hot cocoa, etc. And a special visit from Santa was nice as well. Although the waiter tried to provide good service, he could have been better. For example, he accidentally dropped a glass of water, and it broke on our table. He apologized, and came back with ... more water instead of towels to clean up all the broken glass. Things like that.

I'm a foodie and with 25 years in the hospitality business. This was not a mission for fine cuisine. I brought my 2 grandchildren to the Hyatt Regency to see the Christmas lights and display and for lunch . I started my hotel career with Hyatt and have taken my children there as well . To my disappointment the restaurant appears to be a last thought I know its been in that space for some time but it visually looks like a Denny's placed in a lovely atrium lobby. The host was not friendly our waiter nice but not trained. I ordered a Dungeness crab salad for myself and pasta for my grandchildren. My salad was brought to the table while the children's pasta came 5 minutes later. Will not return

Typical hotel restaurant except the food was better. They seemed surprised that we were there early, and were totally unprepared. We were unable to order a cocktail ($12, one swallow) until their servers showed up, approx 20 minutes later. Had to ask 3 people for butter. the hostess was doing all of the work and trying hard to please. The food was surprisingly good, however.

Although the food here is absolutely outstanding, we were so disappointed in the service -- of which there was next to none -- that we left a minimal tip and probably won't go back for lunch again. We sat for nearly two hours -- on a lunch HOUR -- and saw a waiter only when the waiter decided to show up. In fact, we saw few wait staff at all. The restaurant was nearly empty. When we had the odd wait person show up and we requested something, we got begrudging service. Summon a waiter? Impossible. Not one to be seen while we were looking around. Nor the maitre d'.

I go to Eclipse for a quiet business lunch once in a while never expecting very much from the food, but enjoy the setting and the quiet. The space is rarely more the half full. The format of the menu has been changed often indicating that management is aware changes are in order. On my recent visit, the food remained bland and boring, but the service, which had always been good dissappeared. Once we were served a beverage, it was very difficult to find a waiter to take our order. Once we ordered, the food came fairly fast, but they had forgotten to dress one of our entree salads, and it was difficult again to find our waiter even though he was not busy. In spite of all this, I will likely return for the quiet and ambiance.

Chose Eclipse for convenience (right at Embarcadero BART stop). My guest's food was OK (scallops dish), or he may have been too polite to complain. Mine (pork medallions) was awful - I'm not a picky eater and never send food back, but I would have this time except that, with the service we were getting, it would have thrown us off schedule. Also, there was confusion about the sides that came with the meal - what the waiter told us did not match what the menu said, but again, did not seem worth making an issue of.
