We loved our specialty cocktails; distinctly unique and delicious. Brunch items were really great with one disappointment. The eggs Benedict were to have crab... while I really enjoyed this dish, the amount of crab was less than a tsp. Other than that, I have nothing but applause.

As a tourist visiting Boston ,this restaurant gave us a good taste of the local scene. Saturday night the front bar was hopping and the restaurant was full. Food was delicious ,and service was good too. A good place to celebrate my bday! But noise level was high!

Awesome food. Had the pepper steak, really enjoyed it. My girlfriend got the lobster baked ziti and really, really enjoyed it. Clam chowder was awesome too - she said it was the best clam chowder she's ever had. Service was a little meh. We didn't feel as though our server really wanted to deal with us too much, perhaps because we didn't buy drinks. All in all a good experience. Especially loved the free cotton candy they gave us for our anniversary - made us feel very special.

The food and service at Towne are very good, and the ambience is wonderful. All four people in our party enjoyed their meals. It is expensive, however, and in my view overpriced for what you get - this observation applies to both the food and the wine. The menu is rather limited. Towne is good place for a special occasion.

From the second I stepped into Towne Stove and Spirits I knew I was going to love everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant with the dim lighting and dark wood finishes throughout makes for a great experience. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and were able to make good recommendations based off what the table was eating. The menu was lacking some vegetarian choices but the Cauliflower and Leek soup was absolutely phenomenal. Other friends dining with me raved about the Steak Arrabiata and Duck Confit and Fig Pizza. Towne has a fluid and functional layout making it a great place for large groups to dine. I without any reservations recommend Towne for your next night out!

I started in the bar, waiting for a colleague. There were few customers when I arrived. It took twenty minutes for a waitress to ask for my order. To be clear there were three employees on duty. Apparently none of them was able to figure our that their pay checks ultimately depend on serving customers. Bad start. Moved to dining room for dinner. The food is quite good. Presentation of dishes is attractive. Room was stylish, hip. Service is cheerful but utterly inept. Our sweet waitress brought us the wrong cocktail, the wrong wine and a wrong main dish. All was fixed, but my salmon was returned to sit under a heat lamp while my conpanion's duck was being prepared. With so many good restaurants in the area, no need to come back.

We had dined at Towne several years ago and had a horrible experience. We were given a gift card to use as a result of our bad experience and it has taken us three years to use as we really weren't interested in going back. However, this experience was completely different than our first. The service couldn't have been better, helpful, professional, yet fun and very attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious….plated attractively and perfectly cooked. We will not hesitate to return.

Towne Stove and Spirits is not stuffy at all but still fit the elements of a romantic evening for us. We sat upstairs as we wanted something more elegant than the casual setting downstairs. Our server was attentive but let us linger long over courses and we did not feel rushed at all to move from dish to dish which we greatly appreciated. Realizing it was our anniversary, they provided our Prosecco gratis. We enjoyed the arrangement of a restaurant kitchen that is on view to the diners which adds to the enjoyment.

Four of us enjoyed our dinner very much. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere lively. But the lighting at my husband's seat was inadequate, so he had difficulty eating his somewhat complicated dish, the Peking Duck. We would return, but if he experienced the same light, he'd probably order something very simple.

The whole dining experience was great. Our table was available when we arrived. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful describing the menu and answering questions about the selections. I had the grilled sea bass, it was a whole fish, but I could have had the head and tail removed and the fish deboned. There was a lemon butter sauce that was delicious and a perfect accompaniment.

We ordered the maki rolls to start which were delicious. Towne gives you 6 pieces so it is a good dish to share. The special for the evening was sole florentine which was very good. I had the duck which was crispy, tasty and very good. We ordered a side of broccoli and cauliflower which was very good although did not come out with our entree ( I think they forgot it) . When the vegetables arrived we were 3/4 done with our entree. The manager apologized and refilled our wine glasses. This is good business. We go to Towne frequently. It is a good location if you want to take in something at the BSO after dinner. I am and will be a repeat customer.

I will not be back. This was my second visit to Towne - my first was a disaterous dinner with waits of 45 minutes to1 hour for food and the food was okay. This time while in Boston for a meeting, I brought customers to what I hoped was going to be a terrific lunch. My food was brought out cold three times - waiter felt bad but said they are not used to making mussels at lunch - so why are they on a menu and how much easier is food to prepare than mussels. They wanted our order fast because it was busy and all the tickets were going to come in at one time. The management of this restaurant frankly is awful and they never seem to be ready for crowds. If this service level and poor food continues, they won't have to worry.

I had the kale salad, which was good and the filet which was cooked spot on and seasoned well. The blue cheese butter was a nice addition, but being that is was primarily butter, there was way too much. Overall a good food experience. The waitress was attentive, but strangely didn't offer specials until she had already asked what we wanted to eat and I prompted for specials. The Towne Martini was good, but overpriced with Grey Goose at $15. The disappointment of the meal was the noise level. I was there with a colleague and found it hard to converse because of the ambient noise. I was also surprised when the hostess sat a couple next to us, at a table that was only about 6" away, while the restaurant was only half full.

It was good that they could host a big group however ended up paying $38 for parking in addition as the location is hard to find parking for. Buffee is delish and there are a wide range of options, all good quality.

This was our second visit to Towne for Christmas Eve dinner. my family and I had a wonderful time...The hostesses and our waitress Christine were very attentive as well. and all the food was delicious! filet mignon, lobster popovers, lots of sides, roasted kale & scallops and blue cheese wedge salads...all wonderful! my only recommendation would be to perhaps have half orders available for kids. we did alot of splitting dishes ourselves instead, it was a little chaotic but it all worked out fine. all in all i think Towne will be our new Christmas eve tradition before heading to the Old South Church Christmas Eve service.

We almost cancelled our reservation after reading some of the comments, BUT this was a very pleasant dining experience for all 5 of us. Yes, wine by the glass is $11.00, but it's a big glass. Yes, the place is noisy, it's a busy place, people can be loud; what can you expect? Downstairs is pub- like; we requested seating upstairs, which can't be guaranteed, and it is a beautiful, elegant room. Service was just right, portions were generous, food excellent (lobster popovers, frito misto, salad, duck, sirloin, scallops, 2 trout ), and the menu will change in 2 weeks. We enjoyed the open kitchen and watching the many chefs in action.

We had a nice meal. Hubby had very thick pork chop and I had the salmon. The salmon was a little surprising. It had a nice baked on crust, but under the crust was the salmon skin. I would have preferred for the skin to be removed before the crust was added. I don't usually eat the skin because it's just extra calories that I don't really need. The salads and appetizers were very nice, as was the selection of spreads that came with the bread. I prefer to be able to talk to my dining companion, but this place was too noisy for conversation so we just stared at each other.

While the food continues to be outstanding, the quality of the service is less than one might expect. There seemed to be some confusion between the servers and other wait staff about which items belong to which tables, and one of the side dishes we ordered did not arrive until we were ready for desert. This did not seem to be a problem for our primary server nor was there any explaination for the delay. We sensed the servers were over extended in terms of the number or tables they were assigned. HAving said this, we would return, but we would certainly alert others we refer.
