The music was too loud to have a conversation between closely seated couples and unlike most wine bars/restaurants there was a push by the server to check us out.

Awful quiet even on a Saturday night when we were there. More people sitting outside under the misters than in the restaurant. Limited menu options and, for a "wine bar", a pretty limited and fairly pricey wine list.

After looking at their website we expected a much more elegant place. As a older group we were very disappointed. The music was blaring and playing all kinds of "Junk" We asked if they couldn't turn the volume down a little but our waitress told us that they couldn't. For 3 of us the food was very good, however the 4th person had a hamburger and said that it wasn't very good. All and all the experience left us with the fact that we would not ever come back. It apparently is for the younger generation of college kids

  • Ridiculously horrible service

OMG! The service is perfunctory, unfriendly and less-than-knowledgeable about the food OR the wine. There are not enough specials in the world to make us want to go to this place again. I've heard from many, many other former patrons that there's a genuine service issue, yet nothing is ever done. There are a number of places in Tucson that actually care if you have a good time - and at a cheaper price. What a waste.

Be careful when ordering wine; bottles shown on the wine list and those presented to the patron are not necessarily of the same vintage but are sold at the same price. That does not necessarily reflect the wine marketplace.

Food was very tasty but portions were very small. The lamb could not have been more than two to three ounces. My husband was still hungry once he finished his meal. I would strongly recommend a starter with the lamb. It gets very noisy. This is a 20 something hangout.

Had lunch with a friend & they accommodated our request to share/split a sandwich and salad, both of which were excellent and just the right amount. Our server was also very helpful in our wine selection. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly service and good food. Have yet to eat something here we don't like and we've tried lunch, brunch and dinner. Limited menu but that's probably part of the reason the food is good...

We enjoyed the overall ambiance and friendliness of Armitage. The quality and quantity of the food selections were good making this restaurant a "good value" from an overall dining experience standpoint. While the restaurant was crowded when we arrived, we were seated immediately. However, the service was quite slow, requiring us to wait nearly ten minutes before any wait staff attended to us. After ordering drinks, we again waited for nearly ten minutes before receiving our drinks. The food service also was slow, with an entree item missed. Setting aside the service aspects, we found Armitage to be a nice and comfortable neighborhood establishment.

  • A small space with low ceilings

    Dined on 8/21/2010
A small space with low ceilings equals loud. But it is a happening place with a palpable buzz--especially during happy hour. Most of their wines are familiar and the limited menu allows them to not try to overachieve. Pleasant and able service as well. There is no receptionist and the whole Open Table reservation thing is a bit herky-jerky and a work in progress, but it all evens out for a fun time--if you don't take it too seriously.

We typically enjoy Armitage for dinner and/or late-night drinks/dessert. This week, however, we went there for a birthday dinner for 10 people. Our unanimous opinion: A+ service, intriguing appetizers & entrees, and outstanding wine --- all of the ingredients for a perfect evening. If you love food, and especially if you want to experience a thoughtful array of outstanding wines at a great value, then do not miss this Tucson gem!

My star rating is not accurate because your form will not allow me to click 5 stars for anything but food. I would give The Armitage 5 stars across the board. Service was especially good. Waitress was knowledgable, extremely helpful, very pleasant!
