I always enjoy my breakfast at Four Seasons. I go especially for the lemon ricotta pancakes. They are the always the highlight of my dining experience. The view facing the Commons is beautiful and peaceful. Having breakfast at the Bristol Lounge is a real treat. I love sharing the experience with friends and colleagues.

The screaming and shouting from the bar area and from the tables around our table (we were four older women friends) was a very unpleasant experience, for our annual Holiday celebration. We were very disappointed with our evening, and could not remember a previous year (we dine there every year after the Holiday Pops) that was so unpleasant.

I was in for dinner; I order the dover sole special on the recommendation of the waiter. The portion size was smaller than what I expected, especially after the waiter commented how large it was. To my dismay, the sole was not filleted. I asked them to filet it which they did right at my table? I began eating however there were still many bones left in the filet making the dining experience sub-optimal, especially given where I was. The bill came and the sole was $55 which I felt was overly priced but was more upset that the waiter did not allude to the price when offering. Maybe it's my inexperience but I would have been better off with the $22 burger.

We are long time fans of the Bristol Lounge, having enjoyed some fabulous dinners and celebrated many special occasions there over the years. Unfortunately, the last two times we have gone it has been quite disappointing. The last time we went, Sunday, December 15, the service started out strong, but faded quickly. The restaurant was only 2/3 full, and it seemed like there were plenty of waitstaff, however, no one was available when we needed them. Our empty appetizer and dinner plates each sat in front of us for nearly 20 minutes. The water glasses were never refilled without having to ask; it took a long time to be able to order a refill on a beverage. The food was not stellar. Ambience was still great, so all was not lost.

We love the Bristol Lounge. It's comfortable and the food is fantastic. However, the service this visit was not quite up to the Four Seasons standard. I hardly touched my cocktail, and when the waiter asked why, I told him I didn't care for it. However, he didn't take it off the check - almost all restaurants would do this. Also, I had to request that the waiter clean the table before we had dessert.

My niece turned 13 and off to the Bristol Lounge we went to celebrate. Like her aunt, she likes a fancy restaurant. My Open Table reservation mentioned her 13th birthday. When we arrived, the hostess wished her a Happy Birthday. Very nice touch! We were seated by a window. The best seat in the house. You are ground level overlooking the Public Garden and can people watch while you dine. Ricardo was our server and was delightful. He joked about food and pacing ourselves as we enjoyed the brunch. We started with the yogurt bar and proceeded to some small breakfast pastries. The piece de resistance was a croissant French Toast pudding, sort of like a sweet bread pudding. It was delicious. THE place for brunch in Boston!

My friends and I went for the traditional Teddy Bear Lunch. It is so pretty there for the holiday season. The Chowder with blue crab was "to die for" and the beet salad was wonderful. The Cornish game hen was disappointing. I had the lobster sandwich - good but not the best I have had. The cappellini were good but a small portion for an entrée. We had the tower chocolate cake for dessert and it was outstanding in taste and presentation. The bill with tip was $460.00 for four adults and 1 child. Pricey but worth the memories!

The most civilized restaurant in Boston with the most professional staff. Service is premium class. No rushing here. Relax in your fashionable jeans or come in a tux or suit..all are welcome here. The food is quite wonderful. The selection is not very broad but the fare is always top notch. I consider this spot to have the best overall ambiance in Boston. Seating is broadly spaced so you can conduct private business or a quiet conversation without fear of being overheard. My favorite resting spot in Boston.

Staff: Understaffed? That's what I asked the host on our way out. His reply "no." That tells me I'm not going back. Very comfortable, attentive staff, good food and choices. All entrees about the same price but one of us as a couple chose a special verbally recited. No price was mentioned and I assumed that it would be close to other non-steak entrees on the menu but was surprised that it was more than a half again as much. I should have asked but staff usually will let you know at time of order. Thus a "lounge" meal with gratuity was quite high. Still we has a very nice time and thank the staff

Sunday Brunch at the Bristol in the Four Seasons has been a local institution for decades, yet it always remains fresh, relaxing and delightful. Always popular (reservation is a must), the busy room nonetheless graciously absorbs the crowd due to its spacious table placement and iconic, gorgeous setting with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Public Garden. The service is top notch -- attentive and thoughtful --and the beautifully displayed food choices would please anyone from 1 to100 whether breakfast seekers or house made charcuterie and artisan cheese lovers. I won't even start on desserts!

I remember the Four Seasons in the old days serving top-of-the-line everything, and things have changed. My friend and I come to the Bristol lounge every couple months and love it. Superior service and great food. Well, we had great food, but service was not great. Our waiter took a long time to take our order. He forgot a side dish (we never bothered saying anything), and never came back to check in. Usually the wait staff is so good. And.....there was a child running around the dinning room. My friend and I both have children and would never have let our child run around in a circle around the dining room. His mother, father or nanny did nothing to stop him. Nor did any staff. He could have gotten lost, hurt himself or caused any other disruption. I know the Four Season's is know to be kid-friendly, but this was unacceptable. I

Four of us were going to the theater and mentioned that to our server to expedite our service. We waited almost 20 minutes for the chowder we ordered and then another long lapse in time before our hamburgers came, not all of them done to our specification of medium. We would not send them back for fear of waiting another half hour. What happened to this special lounge that we enjoyed visiting in the past? The noise level was such that we practically had to shout to talk to each other.

Based on the high ratings here on Open Table, we decided to dine at Bristol Lounge to celebrate a special occasion...and we are so glad we did. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed but upscale, the food is expertly prepared and the service is top notch. The calamari appetizer was some of the best we have ever eaten. Gently coated and fried, extremely tender and the cilantro flavor was an unexpected delight. The special entrée was a filet of sole, which was excellent and the side was an incredible baked mushroom and cauliflower combination in a small casserole dish with a decadent cream based sauce with a crumb topping. Desserts were equally good, my favorite was a 64% Valrhona chocolate "brownie" that was rich and decadent.

Definitely a splurge for lunch with salads in the $25-35 price range and coffee at $7 per cup but for a special occasion or power lunch worth it. Classic food with a modern twist, well-prepared and artfully presented. However, our server, who was in training and initially under the tutelage of an experienced colleague but ultimately left to his own devices when the restaurant became crowded, needs more training and tutelage. My guests and my salad arrived before our wine and a shared side was removed without asking whether we'd finished and when half of it remained on the plate. And while menu recommendations are welcome, sales pitches aren't.

The Bristol has always been the "go to" restaurant for elegant, romantic late night dining. We had 11:15 PM reservation after a concert. Greeted warmly and brought to lovely table @ window overlooking Public Garden. Manager of the Lounge very attentive, even taking our order b/c waiter was tied up with a large party. She checked on off-menu special request of ours for smoked salmon and came back to tell us kitchen would be happy to prepare it; turned out to be exactly what my partner wanted - salmon with toast points, capers and cream cheese. I had the famous Bristol Burger, which was perfectly cooked and wonderful. Not a huge fan of the truffle fries; - I should have requested a substitute. In all, just a lovely way to end a great evening.
