  • Although there were avavilable

Although there were avavilable tables at the front of the restaurant, we were seated in the bar area - two of us squashed between larger (louder) parties. The drinks were weak and incorrectly made; the entrees were okay, though the fries seemed to have been cooked earlier and reheated (or left under a salamander too long), the pork loin was dry, and the grits were just mush. We were there on a Saturday night and it was very loud. Not a good bet for a date unless you like yelling across the table. Won't be going back.

  • Absolutely the best beer selection

Absolutely the best beer selection of any downtown Boston bar. The food is hit or miss, but the hits are outstanding - overall, better for drinking than eating. The downtown crossing neighborhood needed a great beer bar. But, for the food-minded, I'd head to Silvertone instead.

My friends and I were very happy with our dining experience at Stoddards. The house charcuterie plate was excellent and the chicken pot pie was amazing. Great place to have an after work drink. Our waiter Adam was very knowledgeable in regards to the menu and very attentative.

The atmosphere was great. Almost had a steam-punk vibe. Retro yet contemporary. Great food too, awesome drink menu as well.

  • Good food although small portions.

Good food although small portions. Some more interesting selections like Rabbit and Ox tail. Great beer and cocktail menu. Some good beers you don't normally see at a regular place. We had a larger party of 8 and it took quite a long time to get drinks at our table due to the bar being busy. Expect a leisurely dinner if you go here with a group.

  • We went during the June special

We went during the June special where a cask ale, appetizer and entree were only 18.98! The food, although expensive normally, was fantastic. The quail and rabbit entrees were really delicious, and would honestly be worth the real prices (22-24$) for a special occasion. The beef tartare was also a nice treat, very tangy - save some of the regular bread too since there aren't quite enough little toasts for the huge amount of beef! Good selection of beers, cask ales are served barely chilled so you can actually taste the hops and different malts.
