A word from Rustic, Francis's Favorites
Open for lunch and dinner Francis Ford Coppola shares his personal pantheon of recipes at RUSTIC, Francis’s Favorites, the winery’s full-service restaurant. RUSTIC’s menu embraces international as well as traditional Italian dishes, with an emphasis on family-style cooking that features fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from the property’s organic herb and produce garden. Authentic, Neapolitan-style pizzas are also a specialty. A focal point of the dining room at RUSTIC is the Parrilla (pronounced “pah-REE-jah”), an authentic Argentine grill. Manned by the restaurant’s dedicated Asador, or grill-master, it provides a true South American experience of delicious, wood-grilled meats. RUSTIC offers service in our casual dining room and on an outdoor terrace overlooking the vineyards of Alexander Valley. A bar adjacent to the restaurant also serves a full complement of cocktails and an extensive wine and beer

I made reservations for my husband's birthday and it was the perfect spot. We ate on the patio and the view and atmosphere were classic Sonoma County gorgeous. The wait staff were all pleasant and attentive. For dinner we had the Ceasar salad, Chicken Mattone, and spare ribs, which were all delicious. The one glitch was that our zucchini fries were forgotten. We had plenty of food, anyway, but I had them previously and wanted my husband to try them since they're fantastic. Last but not least were the incredible desserts. The chocolate mousse was silky, deeply flavored and luscious. The lemon tart was perfectly tart, bursting with fresh lemon flavor on a beautiful crust. I don't usually have dessert but I'm so glad we did!

Food was excellent. Simple but very tasty. Mama Sccorceses's lemon chicken was unbelievable. Excellent wine list. Only complaint was the chicken dishes should be served with a risotto or polenta Not white rice pilaf!

I dined in the former space, many times starting about 20 years ago. It was an eye-popper then. Good food, great view, nice surroundings. Francis has taken it to a whole other level. So well executed, I was thrilled at the result. Deep warm woods, quailty to detail everywhere. Welcoming, expansive and beautiful. The view is even better now, even though Francis did not change nature (Thank you, Francis!) The outdoor dining terrace felt like Italy, out in the country. For a local, who has lived among the beauty of this county for 3 decades, the vision and scope of Sonoma Countys' beauty, has been eclipsed in Francis' stunning new restaurant. Welcome to Sonoma County, Francis! WE ARE SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE!

I had a very nice experience at Rustic. The food was okay. The view and the ambience was breathtaking. The prices were excellent, not too expensive. I had the rack of lamb and thought it was just okay, my friend had the Lemon Chicken and thought it was okay. I would go there again because it is only a month old and I think they have to work out the kinks. The movie memoribilia was great, especially to see the desk used in the God Father.

We waited 20 min. with having a reservation. Our waitor worked very hard to accommodate our large party of 8. The dining room was packed yet he was able to speak loud enough and maneuver around. Salads came out in a timely fashion with a few of us having the excellent Ceasar salad, however there was quite a wait before we were served our main entrees. All entrees came out except mine and I waited over five min. The bad news is the wait, the good news is mine was by far the best "Chicken Mattone". Absolutely the best chicken dish I have ever had. My husband had the Lemon Chicken and would not order it again (too much lemon) others had pizza and thought they were just o.k.,but great sausage used as a topping. We will give them another visit.

The restaurant is newly opened; I've been there twice and both times it was exceptional. Really good authentic Italian food, a nice selection of side dishes, appetizers and main dishes, along with pizza and pasta. It's a very fun atmosphere and the view is beautiful, overlooking the vineyards and Alexander Valley. The staff is very friendly too. If you go early in the day, or for lunch, the tasting room is open, which is a very fun scene. You can walk around and see movie memorabilia, like Oscars Coppola has won, the desk from The Godfather, and a Tucker car! Very kid friendly too.

I thought the wine list was great. Really liked the fried zucchini and the Caesar salad. Wasn't impressed by the eggplant. The atmosphere and view (we sat outside) is spectacular. The wait staff is a little over eager, but that's better than being ignored. Really like the remodel of the inside of the restaurant, too.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 8/25/2010
Rustic has just been open a month and is still working out its kinks. Of the nine Francis's Favorites, only four were available that night. The Chicken Mattoni was quite tasty though I kept picking crushed bones out of my mouth! The short ribs were flavorful. Entrees came with grilled vegetables but no starch. Garlic mashed potatoes would have complemented what we had though Table fries was available as a side. The pettole is not to be missed. There were a few fried items on the menu....potatoes, noodles, zucchini, pettole (bread) so eating healthy can be a challenge. The kitchen can be slow. It took about 45 minutes after appetizers before our entrees came and the restaurant wasn't full. Prices are reasonable.Killer view from the patio!

First the good news: Incredible views and wonderful grilled meats and vegatables. The bad news: The service from start to finish was extremely poor. Despite the fact that we had a reservation we were asked to wait for 10-15 minutes for a table and then given the absolutely worst table in the restaurant (between two kitchen doors). Prior to sitting down we requested a different table and were told that although there were other tables waiters in other sections had just been seated with new tables and were over-loaded. Although there appear to be an excessive number of wait staff no-one is following through on the details at the table (regardless of what area you sit in). Hopefully, this is temporary and due to initial growing pains.

This was my first visit to Rustic, and I treated an old friend to a birthday lunch. I was delighted with the food, service, ambiance, space (no crowded together tables) and especially the lack of snobby-ness. It was elegant yet casual. Also, the server brought us free beignet-like rolls -- delicious and an unexpected treat! I am having a large group party in Sept., and I'm hoping to take them for lunch or brunch on Sunday, the 12th. Can you accommodate 15? There may be fewer, but just in case, I would like to know. And, above and beyond the restaurant, the Coppola memorabilia adds so much to the whole scene. I'm eager to see the finished pool, cabanas, etc. This place will become a destination. Great addition to Sonoma County!

I have eaten at Rustic twice...once for dinner and once for lunch. The dinner experience was quite nice on the terrace. The food was delicious, the views spectacular, and the service attentive. The lunch experience was not as nice. The food was good but the service was very poor. The server did not arrive until 10 minutes after our having been seated. She rarely came to our table and we spent much time waiting for our entrees. Lunch took almost an hour an a half to complete due to her inattentiveness. Other than that, it was a good experience.

Great outdoor seating, but there was a hint of highway noise. Great setting. Coppola wines from the wine list appear to be the same retail prices at the winery without additional mark-up. Wines by the glass based on lower bottle prices as well. A great value, with a good selection. Great experience.

Coppola's new restaurant and venue are quite nice. The menu is still a work in progress with not all shown on the menu available yet. The arugula salad is just that: a healthy portion of arugula with a tasty dressing but nothing else, just arugula. The carbonara pasta is a small portion but very flavorful. The lamb chops were excellent. Pros - great atmosphere, views, excellent wait staff and very casual feel Cons - food is quirky and not all items yet avaiable. It'll take some time to work out the bugs but on a warm summer night,it's a great spot!

The whole experience of dining at Rustic was outstanding. The complimentary savory donuts were really a treat. The short ribs were a bit tough, however. The chicken mattone was excellent - the 2nd time I've had it - but this time the leg/thigh wasn't done well enough - it was a little bloody. The chocolate mousse was divine. The salmon was "the best I've ever had". One suggestion - cut the curb at the elevator that comes up from the parking lot so that a wheelchair/walker has easy access.

Only had a couple of minor kinks to work out in the service area - understandable for a newer venue. We went for the wines - we are really trying to learn our way around the wine list. A visit to the tasting room before dinner was really important for us. What really surprised this Texas "Steak Snob" was the food! Amazing quality, presentation, and, best of all, value. With so many wineries and restaraunts to choose from it is not often we go back. This one will be my first stop next trip!

Coppola has developed a winner here. Diners should request an outside table when making a reservation to take advantage of the view over the vineyards into the Mayacama Mountains. The outdoor patio is tranquil and tables are spaced far apart. The items on the menu are designed to be shared, so feel free. Recommendations are the pizzas (with a thin cracker crust) and the chicken mattone. Pasta puttanesca was fresh, but perhaps a little too spicy for a lot of people. Desserts were homey and good. Wine list was well priced. A true destination for anyone touring the Dry Creek and Alexander Valley wine areas.
