  • Antonia's for brunch or lunch!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 11/24/2011
The service was excellent, especially as we had 2 handicapped friends with us. We had a large table at the window with a view of Revere Beach on a sunny, Thanksgiving Day. Food was excellent and turkey cooked just right; green beans a little too al dente. Desert included warm lava cake with rasberry sauce that got a "10" from Queen Foodie:" apple crisp also very good with ice-cream. Beer and wine list rated good. Great cappacino's. Plenty of free parking and reasonable prices.

Food keeps getting better and better with lots of variety. Even veal dishes were outstanding and that is no easy feat. Mussels were wonderful too. We come to hear Al Vega Trio and always enjoy the experience. Vocalist Valerie Giglio is terrific, really a great range and energetic and moving!

This place is great if you are looking for a certain thing. It has VERY LOUD live music and it's songs like "Life is a Cabaret." Also everyone there was at least 65 years old (at least on the night we went). So if that is your thing it is great. If you are younger and want to have a conversation, maybe you should try somewhere else. But MY FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. At least my meal was, the Chicken Valdostana. I tried fried calamari for the first time and it was great. The drinks were great too. And the price was right. Five people with alcholic drinkss, appetizers, and entrees for $145. Not bad.

  • Nothing in particular to complain
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

Nothing in particular to complain about, but not a stand-out "find" either. Waiter was polite, service was reasonable, menu was varied and food was tasty, if not particularly innovative. The bar occupies the entire center of the place, front to back. It was packed - and noisy. Wine list was reasonable, we had a nice bottle of cote d'rhone - again, well priced for its value. We chose to walk a couple of blocks to an ice cream window for dessert. This was a pleasant, average evening... and a nice change of pace. If you live nearby, git it a try... but not worth a long drive as a "destination" place for foodies.

We follow the Al Vega Trio and love that jazz and old standards--- especially vocalist Valerie Giglio and sax/clarinet player Teddy Casher. Valerie's singing is a pure joy to hear! We found the food to be top notch and based on some mixed reviews, we were not expecting that caliber. Friends joined us so between us we had varied choices and all were really excellent: Veal parm, Chicken piccata, shrimp and scallop bucatini, mussels bianco, caprese and fried calamari!!!

We went to Antonia's specifically to see the Al Vega Trio. That night Valerie Giglio was the singer; she was fantastic! You simply can't hear music like this anymore anywhere. She's a modern day jazz singer with a 1940's vibe. We were pleasantly surprized by the food. We would absolutely go back just for the food alone, although I'd go anywhere to see these musicians. Everything was great except the calamari which was too salty.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

Terrible doesn't even describe this experience. The bread was stale. The salad was salty. 3 of 5 dinners came out WRONG. Our waiter couldn't care less. The food was mediocre at best. I think a kindergartner could have cooked better. The wine was good, because all they had to do was open the bottle.

Antonia's is a great addition to the local dining scene. Ownership changed a while back, and the new folks are terrific. Very good food, fair prices, a nice atmosphere and solid service are a pretty good combination - and that's what you will experience here. Good choices: Fried Calamari, Chicken Broccoli and Ziti w/olive oil, any of the seafood dishes, and their Eggplant Parm special if they have it.

The food was decent for the price. We had 10 people in our party including 2 children. I think this place is good for families, in that the food is pretty good for the price. I wouldn't go there for a nice meal as a couple. Our waitress was very nice, but the kitchen was backed up, so it too forever to get our meals.
