Food was fabulous but I am not surprised-have delighted in Chef's culinary best on many occasions. My husband and I do not partake of alcohol and the service reflected a noticible lack of attention. The tables that surrounded us were alcohol consumers and the wait staff was totally attentive to them.

Alma Nove is a comfortable, scenic new restaurant. The staff is very accomadating and friendly. I loved not having to ask if the portions of pasta could be halved for an appetizer. They are, it's printed on the menu. I'd definetly go back despite some new restaurant slip ups. The delicious soft shelled soft shelled crab melted those thoughts away. Thumbs up.

We had a delightful dinner at Alma Nova - the food was very good and the menu offered a little bit of everything. The Caesar Salad was excellent as was the Calamari appetizer cooked over a wood grill. The steak was perfectly cooked but a steak. The Risotto with Peas and Prawns was yummy but I would say the prawns were just large shrimp - we were expecting a larger size. The decor is contemporary and very well done. If it hadn't been so hot outside, it would have been delightful to watch all the harbor activity. The only real complaint was the level of noise - it was very difficult to hear your dining partner. Other than that, we will definately go back!

Paul Wahlberg has created a very special place in Hingham. Food was outstanding and ambiance was very good. I can't wait to go back and eat outdoors on their deck. Great place to have drinks outdoors around the fire pit. I thought that Paul coming out and making the round and even helping his staff was great.

The place is beautiful!! The food was good but both gentleman in our group found the portions to be too small. Although the restaurant was quiet when we arrived our waitress was missing most of the evening, we even had to ask another waiter to get her as we had been sitting needing drinks for a long period of time and could not find her. We had to ask her about the specials and then when we ordered one of the gentleman in our group ordered the halibut at which point she told us they did not have it (rather than when she specialed us or when we were first seated). After the appetizers our silverware was never reset so when dinner was served we had to request knives. Service not up to par for the price point.

Our first time there - special occasion for our 15th anniversary. went primarily due to liking what the Exec Chef had done at his prior restaurant (still a great place!). I had a baked chicken dish which great. My wife had one of the specials, a thick bone in steak w/risotto. Ordered it done medium, and it came out barely rare. Sent it back. A few moments later, it came back out, still barely rare. At this point we pretty much gave up on her having a decent meal. Manager and wait staff could not have been more accommodating, however. In the end, they sent us home w/ another dish (gratis), and took the steak off the bill. Free desert for my wife as well. Still new, and maybe working out the kinks? Will try one more time, though.

Overall, a very good dining experience. Very nicely designed, fairly large restaurant. Very pleasant outdoor dining area, not sure if you can reserve or if it is fist come... VEry good service. Food a bit on the slow side in coming but that was OK because we were having a nice pre-dinner drink. It is a great addition to the South Shore dining scene and a lot better than some of the other new foodie places just opened in the area.

While the service was good, and the actual place the restaurant is in is fantastic, the food was very disappointing. I'd only go back if I could sit on the patio and watch the boats in the harbor. The actual patio space is wonderful, spacious, and has a great fire pit. I ordered the pork tenderloin and it was tougher than it should be. My fiance ordered the sirloin steak, rare and it was very tough and came out medium-well. The appetizers were ok, and the oysters were very good.

Table agreed that Arugula Salad is must try; also enjoyed seafood risotto, pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon, swordfish with lobster mashed potatos. Terrific addition to the Hingham dining scene!

An absolutely beautifully designed restaurant with wonderful views of Hewitt's Cove marina. We were lucky to have a table wth a view of the sun setting. And the tables were far enough apart so we could easily hear our own conversation!! While the food was very good, it could use a little more attention. This I feel will come in time, since the restaurant just recently opened and details need to be ironed out. The staff was very attentive and interested in our opinions.

My husband and I found this restaurant to be, overall, a very good choice. We shared a soft-shell crab appetizer which was delicious, and had a shrimp and pea risotto and a swordfish special for our entrees. The risotto was wonderful and the swordfish was good, but nothing special. We shared a mixed nut tart for dessert and found it to be a little too stick to your teeth chewy, but tasty. The wine list was very good, and the service was excellent. We sat out on the patio, which was wonderful. On the whole, we would say that it was somewhat overpriced except that we were paying for the location which made it, in our opinion, worthwhile.

Alma Nove is a wonderful addition to the South Shore. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, the food was excellent, service fantastic and the only suggestion I would make is to spend a little more time training the host staff. There were 3 young girls on the desk when we checked in for our reservation and they didn't really seem to know what each was doing.

We had to ask for waiter after sitting with no water or menus for 15 minutes. After that, service was excellent - except for the water guy who was clueless. Direct sunlight on our table was awful (5:45 p.m. seating). Beautiful restaurant. Food was good but not outstanding considering the price. Haddock was excellent. Bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin was really good but the bacon was raw. Sirloin was good, but way overpriced at $29. Orciette pasta w/broccoli rabe was good. Pasta w/short ribs just okay. Restaurant is beautiful. Noise level is very loud. Tables are small but you have to lean in to talk to each other because of the din. $170 before tip for 1/2 pasta, 1 full pasta, 3 entrees, 2 dessert, 4 wine ($8 ea.), 3 sodas.

All of the food was very good, but front of house & service staff not so much. Despite a 4:1 table:server ratio, the service was more like what one would expect from an 8:1 or even 10:1 ratio. Want a patio table? You're going to walk THROUGH a wait station. Price charged for Peroni was NOT the price on the menu. Oops. Timing of courses was far, far off – the first course arrived barely halfway through the salad, and the second course arrived 15 minutes after the first course was concluded and its plates cleared. The restaurant is just concluding its first month in operation, so improvement is likely – but for the moment the front of house is still very much in training/shakedown mode.

This is one very noisy restaurant. We were seated in an alcove just inside the entrance, but the rest of the place was more than "energetic" in volume. The food is excellent, but the protein portions of the "SECONDI" course are skimpy given that the prices warrant a "high end of upscale" rating. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, but service in general needs some fine tuning. For example, water glasses were not filled routinely, fresh crushed pepper was not offered, and, in spite of our apprising the waiter that the appetizer, salad, and dessert would be shared, extra plates were not provided. In all fairness, the place just opened and these kinks surely will be ironed out because proprietor Paul Wahlberg solicits patron feedback.
