We have been coming to Rockland for many years and never made it to Primo. Since this is our last year coming, we decided to try it. We were a bit hesitant when we arrived since the menu seemd very foreign to us. Our server, Bill, outlined the menu, gave us a brief history and let us decide of we wanted to stay. Well, we were glad that we did. Every morsel of food had an abundance of flavor; the quality is top notch. I have never experienced a meal where is was perfect from start to finish. Don't forget to save room for the canoli, it is by far the best you will ever taste.

Primo never fails to delight! Upon being seated we were told there were only two ricotta stuffed squash blossoms left and when I raised my hand, our server raced to the kitchen to reserve this delectable appetizer sourced fresh from their garden. We had our kids - ages 9 and 12 - who were warmly welcomed and treated well, from not blinking at my son's ordering foie gras to presenting a special fruit drink to them both. The entire meal was memorable and reminded us why it is our favorite restaurant.

Primo was an amazing restaurant. The actual house and gardens were amazing and beautiful. The service was excellent - unpretentious, genuinely warm and clearly excited about what they do. The food was a delightful experience from start to finish - we enjoyed everything immensely from the foie gras to the pizza to the boar to the affogato. My entire family from my teenage brother to my parents enjoyed it, and my husband and I (self-described foodies) were loving the flavors and complementary wine. We definitely would go out of our way to go back here.

We enjoyed it overall. My husband asked for his steak to be cooked medium well and it was medium rare. When it can back the second time it was still on the rare side, but he ate it anyway. Other that, we enjoyed the atmosphere and food very much. I was happy we had the opportunity to dine there because I remembered seeing it recommended on the Food Channel years ago.

It was fabulous, the service was great. Our server was very pleasant and conversed well with everyone at our table. She was prompt with our appetizers and our dinner was so amazing the flavors we were celebrating our mothers 75th birthday and they did a wonderful complimetary desert for her and us. The resturant lighting was very nice andf the noise level was not too loud. Our wait on the veranda overlooked the garden and water and we thought it was an amazing place and will definitely recommend to our friends. One to put on your bucket list for sure.

This was one of the better restaurants in the US. The food and service were impeccable while the prices would have to be considered a value in today's higher end establishments. Be sure to view the upstairs, which turns out to be a very good idea and well laid out.

The fresh ingredients were good, and welcome, but the cooking itself, despite the imaginative combinations, was not exciting nor was it in every case well executed. The restaurant simply didn't deliver (except for the tiny crab cake amuse-bouche and the chocolate dessert). In sum, both overpriced (especially the appetizers reaching $20) and, in our view, overrated.

My wife and I went to Primo on July 12 to celebrate our 2-year anniversary and our dining experience was perfect for the occassion. The atmosphere was elegant without being stuffy and our server, Bill, was impeccable in his presentation and service, along with everyone else who made sure that we went from one course to the next seamlessly, without feeling rushed. However, even with service as perfect as Bill and the team delivered, it paled in comparison to the food. From the oysters two-ways to the duck, to the plated Cannoli's for dessert with a special "Happy Anniversary" spelled out in chocolate, the presentation, quality and portions were flawless. Needless to say this experience had a very positive impact on my wife and I.

Fine food well-crafted, mostly well-served and with a warm ambience. The staff was mostly pleasant, relaxed and happy, a sign of good management. The only wrinkle was the waiter, apparently tense and self-impressed. She called rouille a soup thickener, dis'd our wine choice, insisted Tavel was a pinot noir (even after I noted it was rhonish with cinsault), and thought Nuit St George a claret!? When I asked her to chill the burgundy for 5 or 10 mins (it was 68-70f) she did, then before I could ask her to leave it sit for a bit to let the wine normalize, she poured it (all at once!) So, a tiny wrinkle on a great meal. Perhaps she thought we were rubes? Primo's ain't Arzak's or Inn @ Lil Wash., but the food's very, very good

Everything was perfect from the Ibiscio cocktail to the Passion Tart. The new bar area is beautiful and adds another great room to this already great spot. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Primo!!

The food was definitely over-rated and over-priced. Appetizers were better than entrees.. I ordered sea bass... it was over-cooked and the gnocchi under-cooked. It is a beautiful setting and the food is fresh but I don't think it is worth all the hoopla!

Carefully prepared, serious food. This is a restaurant for people who appreciate attention to detail, fine ingredients and a commitment to "whole foods." Each item will be perfectly executed and should be savored. One of my choices (cold pea soup) was a bit bland and watery, but the rest of the meal was outstanding. The waitstaff is knowledgeable, gracious, efficient. The tables are close together, so it's almost impossible not to hear the conversations of those around you, but it's not loud or noisy. After your meal, take a walk through the vegetable gardens and chicken coop. It explains the idealized concept of this restaurant...truly local, sustainable dining.

We had an 8pm reservation on a Wednesday night. The apps (farmer salad w/poached egg; crab salad/cake) were rather good. Our entrees (roasted cod with potato & duck with fingerling potatoes) were very good, though the green peppercorns on the duck overwhelmed the dish. Desserts (cheese & pear sorbet) were quite delicious. Everything about Primo was good - but not great. No one dish we had was astonishing; nothing about the service stood out; nothing about the experience took our breath away. We've been to several restaurants like this in Boston, where we were satisfied with everything but have no intention to go back. We would very easily return to Fore Street (in Portland) many times before we'd go back to Primo.

My wife and I have been wanting to try Primo for quite some time. We finally made it up for a weekend trip for our anniversary. The meal could not have been better suited for the special occasion. Every dish from the appetizer to the dessert was exceptional and our server was very helpful in recommending dishes and pairings. The only complaint we could possibly have was that we had to choose from such an expansive and exciting menu and weren't able to try it all. I wish I could recommend one of the specific dishes that we had as the swordfish I had was perfectly prepared and my wife's duck was the best example of duck that I have ever tasted, but the menu changes too frequently to accommodate the seasons. One my all time top 5 meals ever.
