A word from The Restaurant at The Setai
It is the vision of the open kitchen to showcase a menu which is inspired by different cuisines which fall under the umbrella of the “Cuisine De Soleil” or the Sun Coast of Europe. The menu is based on regional Mediterranean specialties, which range from Spain to the Cote D’Azur, to certain regions in Italy such as Tuscany, Puglia and Sicily. In addition, classics dishes from different Mediterranean countries will be represented as well. The Concept, called “Mediterranean Fusion” onwards, will be descriptive of the ingredients utilized, as well as the cooking technique implemented to execute the idea.
The cooking techniques will be implemented by a “Plancha”, equivalent to a Griddle, in order to fortify and extract the versatility of flavors and aromas of the aforementioned regional ingredients to their fullest potential. The utilization of a “Plancha” is a very Mediterranean method, popularized by most countries of that region.

One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Incredible interior design, great food and impeccable service every time. It obviously costs money, but it's worth it. This place is a must for me when I visit Miami 2-3 time a year. I don't need to look at the menu. I know exactly what I want. Tuna sashimi with black caviar, black truffle dumplings, black cod, peking duck, scallops. The deserts are great as well. Once you are done with the food you sit outside by the "pool" and enjoy drinks and romance. If it sounds like a perfect evening - it usually is. Enjoy!

I enjoyed Setai's Miami Spice Dinner menu with two friends, and it was excellent. We all ordered a different item, so we were able to share a taste of everything offered. Every single item was great, which is unusual, to say the least. I had the Beef Hor Fun and it was perfect; but the steamed Yellowtail was equally delicious. And my desert was the lemon tart: perfect, perfect, perfect. The wait-staff at the Setai is top drawer, and the decor is luxurious but subtle and quiet. Our table allowed us to watch the exotic food preparation and it really was very entertaining for us. We will definitely be return diners.

My girlfriends and I went to the Setai for Miami Spice week so we had a prefix menu. The beef Thai salad was excellent and flavorful. The snapper was a little bland but with curry sauce became light and flavorful as well. The dessert was not my "cup of tea" chocolate cake with mango sorbet, however my friends raved about the lemon tart. The ambiance was beautiful although we couldnt enjoy the outdoors because of the pending hurricane. However the desert wine and other drinks order were great and our wait staff was patience and knowledgable.

The Miami Spice menu motivated us to try this well-reviewed though extremely expensive venue. We were very impressed with the restaurant design and service - but, when they brought out the first courses, the branzino carpaccio was so miniscule we were wary of what was to come. Everything we ordered was very good and beautifully presented - the rest of the portions were small but acceptable. Based on other reviews we ordered an extra appetizer of delicious steamed dumplings and by the end of the meal we were satisfied with our choices and did not leave hungry.

The theme is Indian/Asian fusion, which honestly don't jibe well. However you are eating haute cuisine versions in small tasting portions prepared exceptionally. Service is wonderful: attentive without being haughty. The atmosphere is elegent yet understated. And remember, you are (almost) on South Beach, so you never know who you will see. Don't miss their Peking Duck, in fact go for their Peking Duck.

I went there for the Miami Spice menu, it was very good but not impressive. I had an overall good experience though. I would say the service was just fair, it is not worth the 20% of your bill that the restaurant will add, plus a resort tax. The restaurant was very quiet but maybe be it gets noisy on the weekends, we went there on a Tuesday.

We ventured to the Setai in August taking advantage of the Maiami Spice menu, which allows top notch restaurants to fill otherwise vacant tables for a fraction of the normal cost. The food was on the whole very good. Some people get annoyed at overpaying for Asian cuisine as it can be very hard to put an original stamp on what has been the same method of preparation for generations. - Amuse Bouche was a bit boring, - some overly seasoned froth Desert was also lacking - chocolate cake was very dry Wine pairing was excellent - except as part of the Miami Spice menu they reduced the pours to 2/3 sizes - AFTER WE ORDERED IT (Sneaky Sneaky) 7/10 overall - I'd have been angry had I paid full whack though!

    fussyfoodieVIP

There's a point when "expensive" crosses a line and becomes "excessive" or less politely, "rip-off". The Setai crosses that line. Service was great. Setting is beautiful. But a $17 "GLASS" of wine is only a FOUR-OUNCE "pour". I KNOW it was only 4 ounces because I have those Riedel Sauvignon Blanc glasses at home and I know how much they hold and how high they were filled. And we ordered coffee and a HALF filled cup was $6 with NO refill offered. Add the $15 valet parking. These prices scream "take advantage of the unknowing tourists". As a local, I am NO STRANGER to expensive South Beach and Miami restaurants. I know what to expect in this price range. And I know you can do MUCH better elsewhere.

Totally overrated restaurant, the food distant for appetizing, we had the miami spice menu, the Rice I have ordered was far from well presented or with the promised ingredients, the rest of the dishes nothing to remember. The service was cold and distant, but I understand why the restaurant has such a success, the Chef is the best marketing/PR, his smile and good manners sell his overestimated restaurant. Of course I wouldn't go back, a total waste of money.

We had a fabulous dinner at the Setai. We chose the Miami Spice menu. The food was plentiful and delicious. We also added a peking duck to share. The best ever. The service was friendly and attentive. We were seated near the open kitchen. It was fun to watch the dishes being prepared with so much precision and care. It was my husband's special birthday. When they found out they brought another dessert with a candle. We would highly recommend the Setai.

We went as a family of four ( 2adults and 2 children). 3 of us had the fixed price Miami spice menu and one of us had a la carte. This was a specila treat: whilst the service was good, the food was really not up to the mark or worth what we paid for. It was downhill form a "custard like" amouse bouche made of beetroot: not a good combination! The sea bass was tasteless and lacked any spice: fish in a pddle od soy sauce. The wine poured rapidly in order to caox one to get another bottle. Nice ambeince; but i would just get a cocktail if one want to savour the outdoor patio and not eat here unless it is the Sunday brunch

Yes, great wine list but so overpriced it made everything seem like it was an image of high class this restaurant wanted more than to truly earn the reputation for great food and wine. The food is hit or miss. We ordered 4 dishes. 2 great. 2 shockingly disappointing. I would not come back to this restaurant. Cocktails at the bar, yes.

We were disappointed by our dining experience at the Setai, primarily based on its value. The food ranged from very good to passable and the service was more of what one would expect from an upscale chain. When asked about two different menu items, the server could only say that one was made in the indian kitchen and one in the chinese kitchen. We had to pour our own wine ourselves($100 + 20% tax). Markups on wine are very high. Large disconnect between price and value.

It reminds me of some classier restaurants in Chicago and New York. Everest, Tru and Charlie Trotter's come to mind. The waiters are terrible. They do not understand English or Spanish and are essentially clueless. The waiters were constantly confused about what dish went to which table. They gave our entree to the wrong table, having already served us our wine pairing. We waited an additional 30 minutes, sipped on the wine and when the food finally came, we had no more wine. The waiter rudely said, that wine was for this dish and we kindly told him they had taken our food to the wrong table...He said they would serve us 2 more glasses but they would charge us. The price was high and they charge 20% gratuity automatically...
