The food was just average. This was my second time at Risibisi and I really wanted to like it. I thought that since they had such high ratings with Zagat and Micheline that maybe the 1st time was a fluke, however my second visit was similar to my first. The food was underwhelming.

After all the great reviews and recommendations, maybe my expectations were a bit too high. Took two friends....had bruschetta, salad, pasta and grigliata mista...it was all okay. Bruschetta was very good, but the seafood in the mixed grill I ordered was not cooked right--over done shrimp and scallops (tilapia was fine though). I tried the pasta my friends ordered which I thought was better than my dish. The atmosphere was pretty, warm nice lighting, the service was good, efficient, nice, but nothing especially great. It wasn't very busy for a thursday, but Petaluma was pretty quiet all over...not sure why. May have caught them on an off night, but with so many great options in Sonoma County, I'd probably try a different place next time.

I don't understand how this restaurant has such great reviews. The food was not much better than chain italian restaurants. Certainly nowhere close to meeting its reputation. The "spicy" sausage on my pasta was flavorless. Dead at lunch on Tuesday. Only 3 tables occupied at 1230. Guess the truth is getting around

We do not get to Petaluma very often, but Risibisi is on our must-do list. The service, the food, the environment make for an enjoyable escape. Only negative observation, which is not the fault of Risibisi, is that we wish some of the diners took the idea of going to a classy restaurant more seriously and dressed accordingly.

In a converted store front setting it appeared the lunch time restaurant business in Petaluma had fallen on hard times. Four of us were the only ones there except for another couple. Salad appetizers were all over dressed. Three people ordered the linguine with shellfish, The mussels, scallops, (no shrimp, as advertised on the menu) were cooked separately from the pasta, resulting in no broth and the pasta to be warm and the shellfish room temperature. I was served a spinach lunch salad that was an appetizer portion and already "cooked" by the excessive balsamic vinegar. An attentive but amateurish staff could not save the day.

Found the staff to be very accommodating. For a busienss meeting, can be a little noisy, but they placed in back room which was perfect. Service was professional, efficient (just 2 working the whole floor for lunch) and knowledgeable of menu. Pricing for lunch was a very good value. Prix fixe 3 course for only 12.95 was a deal. Highly recommend for a special lunch, especially when there aren't as many nice restaurants open for lunch. I'll be back.

The Italian waiter was knowledgeable, personable and capable of opening the bottle of wine we brought with an old, crumbly cork. This place was surprisingly good. The gnocchi in boar were light as air (very difficult to pull off) and not at all boring. The main courses were less spectacular, but still excellent. The wine list was quite extensive. The panna cotta was exquisite. The espressos were lungos (too much water), a shame when they have Illy to offer.

This is some of the best Italian I have had since moving west from New York City. It is hearty, well portioned, and high quality. I had a beet salad that was just sweet with the fresh and not over-marinated beets perfectly complemented by some micro-greens and goat cheese. Orchiette with sausage was perfectly al dente and some olive oil completed a home-style plate of food. Being a maniac I just had to have the veal chop which was pounded thin, breaded, and served on the bone. This was the best quality veal I have had in the bay area. The veal was sided with asparagus, some potatoes, and a custard-like preparation of vegetables. Wonderful. I certainly will return.

On our last visit my husband chose the gnocchi with wild boar sauce and I the lamb shank with homemade pappardelle pasta. Both were prepared to perfection. The staff is quite knowledgeable of the extensive wine list and each time has suggested wine to meet our personal taste. Risibisi makes sure that you will have a pleasurable dining experience and is definitely my favorite restaurant in Petaluma.
