We had not been to the Brooklyn in years, and probably won't go again. Its whole identity has changed. What was once a good place to go for fish (non-shellfish) only has two regular fish options on the menu and no "fresh sheet." The service was good, the fish properly cooked to our specifications. Fine if you want oysters, not so much for other things.

The dinner we had was fantastic. We started with oysters paired with wine. Delicious! Then we had the nicely seared tuna. Every bite was amazing. I highly recommend The Brooklyn for any type of dining (special occasion, night out, regular evening dinner). This place is great!

Oyster sampler with wine pairing, Penn Cove mussels, steak medallions with mushrooms - all excellent. Only negative, had to buy bread to fully enjoy the broth with the mussels - really need to just give you a few pieces of bread. Dessert of chocolate-orange cake was light not too dense but could have used a bit more of the wonderful creme Anglaise. We make a point of eating here whenever in Seattle. The bar has great happy hour & food offerings, but get there early as it was packed on Friday at 4:50 PM!

This was a great experience - the food & service. We were very late for our 5:30 reservation ( changed to 5:45 when we first realized we were stuck in horrible traffic on 5th Ave). Nevertheless, we were promptly seated when we arrived at 6. The service continued to be very good-the waiter insured us we would be served in time for our Concert at Benaroya Hall. We had a leisurely dinner & got to the concert with time to spare. The food was great-we had ahi & scallops with a shared side salad. Sandy A

This was our second time at The Brooklyn, both times we sat up by the chefs. It was a neat experience! The first time we sat closer to the center of the "kitchen" and this time we sat farther away towards the end of the kitchen. We had less interaction with the chefs but we also were having a business dinner so it gave us more space and quiet to talk. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Oysters paired with vodka shots are an absolute MUST and the drinks were fabulous!

The Brooklyn has always been a favorite, but we got away from dining there for quite a few years. Within the past year, we have been back numerous times and the food is always excellent, as is the service. My husband loves the oysters! The wait staff is always courteous and very knowledgeable about the entire menu. The booths are great for the times when you would like privacy. We took friends last week after the theater and they were suitably impressed, too. We will return again and again.

Dining at the Brooklyn is always a treat. This night of dining was the same night as a Sounder playoff game and the Symphony, so it was very busy in the dining area (hence my Good rating for ambience ) The waitstaff graciously handled the crush and were attentive. Food, as always, perfection.

We went here with a group and had a nice dinner. Not fantastic because the menu was not the same as what they advertised online. The online menu was much better. I was not embarrassed that I recommended this place but if it were not for the great service, I would not have been very happy. Food was good but I don't know if I would dine here the next time I visit Seattle.

From the greeting at the door, to the host to the waiter, every step of the way we were warmly welcomed. The steak was the superb and could rival the best New York City steak house. Oyster selection was incredible and the bread with dipping oil delicious. It was fast service before a show at Benaroya Hall. Would highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Our first time dining here and we will definitely return. We chose The Brooklyn based on proximity to Benaroya Hall first and the menu second. However, the food was so amazing that we would come back even if we weren't attending the symphony. The scallops were cooked to perfection and we were pleased to find a favorite beer, "Odin's Gift". Service was excellent.

The service was friendly and efficient. The food was very good quality, but plates are minimal, so if you're a hearty eater it's best to order salad/soup/small plates ala carte. Bread is an extra $8. The wine list is nice and fairly priced.

Our waiter Dave was outstanding! Had great recommendations for food and accompanying wine. The clam chowder was the best I had the entire trip. I had the scallop special and was very impressed. Most of our party ordered a number of “small plates” to share. All were very good with one exception – the lobster ravioli took the “large plate with a tiny amount of food” concept to a comical level. My son had the Steak Oscar and it was excellent. Overall we enjoyed our meals -- the only downside is the “sting” when you get the bill.

The old time ambience, with several seating options from oyster bar to booths to white table cloths for quiet romantic dinners in the back seem to make this a different experience each time we go. Very attentive service of course without fail. Our waiter pointed out the "Small Plates" menu is somewhat misleading as items are more like small appetizers. Generous delicious portions on the main menu make up for that!

We had 8 PM reservations on Saturday night. We were told right away that the duck entree was not available/sold out. Before we placed our order, we overheard our waiter describing, to another table, that one of the fish dishes was almost sold out. We asked him to take our order, as 2 people in our party wanted to order the fish. 3 of us ordered the beet and goat cheese country salad, as a starter. While eating the salad, I noticed that there were no beets in the salad. I asked the others at our table and no one had beets in their salad. When asked, our waiter informed us that "we replaced the beets with orange supremes". No apology or offer to make amends. He tried to make it sound like a wonderful upgrade. Attitude bordered on arrogance.

This restaurant is a block from Symphony hall. If you want tasty inexpensive eats try the busy bar/lounge between 4 and 6, but plan to stand unless you are there at the very beginning of happy hour. We had dinner at the back of the restaurant, which is quiet, romantic and classy. The food is a la carte -- even bread is a special order -- but ranged from very good to awesomely delicious. I must admit I got a bit toasted on the vodka/oyster starter, but it was wonderful. Our salads were extraordinary, as was the bread. My salmon, a signature dish of the house, was flawless but for the overcooked fennel. My husband said his bouillabaisse was wonderful. The berry dessert was lovely though the crust probably needed more tenderness.

Had the halibut and the double pork chop. Both were excellent. Had the seafood volcano appetizer $22 which was very disappointing. 3 very small shrimp three tiny oysters and a small portion of crab in lettuce. Avoid this. Also, no free bread anymore. Want bread? $3. Not a big deal but when you are spending over $100 for dinner, bread should be included.
