Excellent attention to reservationsand arrangements. Food wasabsolutely wonderful, steaks, filtets and lamb were tender, generous, cooked to perfection and extremely flavorful -- melt in your mouth delicious. Grilled asparagus was tender and juicy, yet crisp. Hollandaise was for real and delicious on asparagus and filets. Various specialty potato side dishes (we tried several) were unique and delicious. Wine selection was very good and recommendations were well suited to our dinner. Service staff were extremely professional and knowledgable, attentive without being obstrusive and quick to render advice (which proved well-considered and appropriate to our mixed group (aged 8 - 65) and varied tastes). Overall, a wonderful dining experience.

Although the Restaurant has the potential to be great on the night I was there it was fair at best. The server was lazy, my steak (filet) was overcooked (med well instead of med-rare), my dinner partners steak (Delmonico) was dry, burnt, rare, med, overcooked ( like the steak had been turned too many times during the grilling process). Being a Chef I was poorly disappointed with the lack of quality control by both the Management and Chef himself. For a slow night and only a couple of tables the server was not on it at all having forgetting my Berniase Sauce and taking a very longtime in every step of the process. ** at best for the night. Will not be back here.

I personally walked into Mark's with high expectations because I was told it was one of the best places in town. However, the bread served was a little to hard on the exterior. The chicken I ordered was somewhat bland especially once the stuffing ran out (there was an insufficient amount of stuffing)... my friend's steak was not in the least bit exciting...(I actually preferred steak I have had at Longhorn's). My favorite part was the sides... those were excellent: crisp and well flavored. We ordered string beans and potatoes with purple onions sauteed. We also ordered desert .. I believe a bread pudding which we both concluded was not worth finishing...the sauces which accompanied were not out of the ordinary

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

The lighting made it difficult to read the menu for our senior party member, but was adequate. Wonderful service and food, as always. The timing of the meal was perfect, Scott picking up that we enjoyed interaction with him, rather than aloof service. It was a game day Saturday and the restaurant was as busy as I have ever seen. Our reservation was honored and we were seated immediately. All four steaks were perfectly cooked to order, and the shared side dishes plenty for all in the party. Our teen son especially enjoyed the truffle parmesan french fries. The grilled asparagus is a must for us. We did miss the broccoli, having been removed from the menu. My husband can never pass up creme brulee and Mark's does not disappoint!

We had an excellent experience. Appetizers and food was excellent. We had the lamb chops, bone-in ribeye and the ribeye (delmonico). All were cooked as ordered and excellent. Sides were also very good and the wine list many great choices and wide range of prices. We had the Mount Veeder 2006 Cab which was superb. Will return when in the area.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. The steaks were prepared perfectly to the correct doneness. The wine list had a nice selection from value priced to special choices. The only disappointment was the dry, dry, dry bread pudding for dessert. Service was good, but the waitress was often too busy to check on us with efficiency. She was very pleasant and added to our "party mood". I'm glad they had valet parking.

My Wife and I live in the Detroit area and were visiting my Daughter who lives near Gainesville. We randomly chose Mark's Prime Steakhouse via a Google search of Gainesville restaurants to celebrate our 31st anniversary. We were very pleasantly surprised, the food, service, drinks and atmosphere were outstanding. Mark's is on our to-do list for all future trips to Gainesville. Keep up the good work.

The food was excellent, and the service was superb! It really was. I appreciate a restaurant that can keep an eye on the pace of the table and gives me time to finish my salad before the entree arrives. We never felt rushed, but we were also not left to wonder whatever happened to our order.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 8/6/2010
In a college town it's hard to get any kind of an exclusive dining atmosphere but i had so wished that Mark's would be it. That was ruined the moment a frat boy walked in with cargo shorts and a polo. This was followed by small children, which I hadn't expected at a four star restaurant but, like I said, it's a college town. Taking that into consideration it was, overall, a wonderful evening out.

Great filet sized over the listed 12 oz and cooked to perfection. If you are getting more than one side be forewarned that the sides are BIG enough to share for two or three. Our server was attentive without hovering over our table, and extremely kno0wledgeable on the menu items. Water glasses were refilled without having to ask and empty plates disappeared quickly. Good wine list with an ample by the glass selection. This was out second visit in less than one month and will be on our list for repeat visits.

Food and service were excellent. Different steaks were ordered, and all were uniformly good; salads very large (sharing recommended). The only slightly negative feature was that the restaurant was very dark, making it difficult to read menu and to see generally.

I had an early evening summertime dinner at this restaurant, which is probably the best in this college oriented town. The quality is in line with steakhouses in major cities in which I have done business, and I was able to enjoy an excellent meal with a client without having to fight crowds and noise. The food is always good and the service attentive.

The food was outstanding, to a point. Our steaks were absolutely perfect, served on a blistering hot plate. The Maytag Bleu cheese salad dressing on the wedge was a little sweet for my taste, but the tomato and onion salad with bleu cheese was superb. The sauteed spinach had a bitter taste, surprisingly. The thing they could really do better is the bread. It was served warm, with butter, but had almost no taste. The drinks were good, wine was excelelnt, and the eveing was very nice. I thought prices were a bit over the top, but you certainly get what you pay for.

Great service from Sean. The wedge was excellent and huge, really enough for two. The four of us had the filet which were nearly fork tender and cooked perfectly. The is a good selection of sides which are large and sufficient for two or more individuals. There is a good wine list with an excellent selection from which to choose.

Mark's was and is one of Gainesville's prime dining spots and the steaks are still great. However, the chef does not come to greet all groups. The 500 degree plates may be good for the meat but after 5 minutes my friend forgot the warning, touched the place, got burned... and the rest of the dinner was somewhat ruined. Finally, my husband complained that potatoes were undercooked.

The food was excellent, well prepared, om time and at the right temperature. The staff listened to and met out requests regarding seating arrangements. They attended to our needs and appeared when we needed them. There were four of us with very particular tastes. A steak eater, a non meat eater and a vegetarian. The steak and fish and chicken was wonderful and so were the vegetables. It was expensive but not noticeable given the quality of the food and service.
