A word from The Plumed Horse
The Plumed Horse achieves a look of sophistication with a sleek and modern interior featuring a glass-encased, three story wine cellar housing 1,800 selections and over 20,0000 bottles. Michelin Star rated since its re-opening, Executive Chef/ Owner Peter Armellino has created a Contemporary California menu with a balance of meat and fish and a focus on elegant dining. His cuisine is showcased in both a la carte and tasting menus, including one made up of vegetables grown on our local “farm.” All the action in the kitchen can be viewed from the exclusive and private Chef’s table (due to its high demand the Chef’s table is not available to be booked online-please call for availability). Experience the best in service, décor, wine, and food at this Silicon Valley destination locale that Sunset magazine calls “the best splurge restaurant.”

Remodel decor a vast improvement from before, but a bit "over the top." Very professional although young waitpersons who assisted waiters. Relatively short menu, but every dish was extremely good. Massive 2 volume wine list. Pricey, but worth every penny. A classy option for special occasions.

Stimulating ambience, very modern, urban, upscale, but not intimate in my view. Best for dinner with good friends, potential clients, or business colleagues. Service may have been better than the food and food was good. It should not disappoint.

Hi, The renovation was well done and the dinong room was very inviting. There was a very loud couple so we all had to hear their conversation throughout dinner. Nobody in the restaurant staff asked them to quiet down. My food was average, the lamb, my guest's food was very good. I may go back to the bar area (where I expect it to be loud) for an appetizer but not fir dinner. I'll stick to Le Papillon. Diana

We had an AMAZING time Saturday night. The service was incredible, the entire staff seemed to be having a good time with us. The Chef's tasting Menu was just incredible. We'll be taking all of our friends there often. The truffle fries and the cheese course with our drinks in the lounge was a great way to start the evening.

We were amazed Michelin has not yet found this restaurant. Certainly an outstanding experience all around. Compares well with Michelin 2 starred restaurants we've visited in France. Attentive, unobtrusive service without pretense. Intriguing flavor combinations. Elegant decor and presentation. We will certainly return. Gordon Peredo

wonderful food, service and ambiance. Excellent treat my only suggestions is let folks sit for a while before rushing over with the champagne cart - I felt it was like they were always trying to sell you something more.. And on tea service - the teapots look nice but arent functional - the teas go cold too quickly and too hard to drink from in that wide cup. Very bad for black teas that need to be in a cup with not such a wide brim. hard to hold as well. Starters - my husbands salad was amazing - asparagus, my potatoe fingerlings and cheese was not that great - we had to send back to get fingerlings cooked all way through and wasnt really done even after sending back. However they made up for it with the entrees and dessert

  • The remodel and the change

The remodel and the change in chef are outstanding. The staff was very attentive and wanted to make sure everything was going well. It definitely has the feel of a new restaurant with tentative servers, but it is overall working well. We were there on the second night of their new tasting menu and were very impressed. The wine pairing was excellent and though I prefer French wines, it showed off some great California wines. An excellent addition to the South Bay and I'm looking forward to going back.

We made a reservation at the "new" Plumed Horse for a special party. We were delighted with the results. The food was very good, but even better was the complete makeover of the restaurant itself and the spectacular investment in wine. We sat at the Chef's Table, and watched the action in the kitchen, which was also quite interesting. The staff made every effort to exceed our expectations. We're already thinking that we'd like to have our holiday function at the Plumed Horse, we'd like to go back again.

Sommelier was excellent and made a fantastic wine recommendation. Highlight of the evening. Food was somewhat uneven; service had many of the "right elements" (e.g., champagne cart, black napkins for dark clothing, etc.) but the staff lacks polish; and the room is very loud.

first visit since the construction - food was excellent, and Manny and his team did an amazing job at service. Corkage was very expensive - but was a special event so my guests were all quite pleased. Dinner was served in a timely manner, the wait staff very attentive, and we loved even the lighting. One of the best meal and best service I ever had. Every dish from starter to dessert was done to perfection. The staff even changed my napkin from a white to a black one to match my black dress!! The wine list was excellent -with best top wines in the cellar. Before and after dinner drinks at the lounge by the fireplace is highly recommended. Just one thing; wished the restaurant would stay open a little longer than 10pm on a Thursday..though the staff was nice to let us linger and lounge was still open. The owner/ chef Peter came out at the end to mingle with guests as well. I am glad I found this historic place and chose to dine at the Plumed Horse for one of the best experiences we had in a long time. We were truly impressed. Thank you!!

The lunch menu was very limited and non descriptive. We both chose the Fillet Mignon entree for $45. We waited close to one hour for our entrees. Our wait person kept coming by and refilling our bread basket with these small round buns. When our meal finally arrived we shocked to see the same buns that we had been eating for the past hour, now being served as our main entree. The 2" diameter buns were filled with slices of fillet Mignon. We also received french fries on our plate. This for $45 a plate??? Needless to say we were not impressed. The dining room was fairly empty. The decor was very stark and boring.

I'm writing this review in 2011. My last time there was in 2008. they had just remodeled, taking a wonderful little place with tons of character and history, and turning it into a NYC wanna be. The staff had no idea what they were doing, the service was very poor. Hot soup spilled on one guest's lap, etc. The menu changed to something that it couldn't achieve. I hope by now things have improved; but that night it went from being one of my fav restaurants to one I've not since wanted to give my patronage.

Outstanding service. Great food. The first time we went was 3 weeks after it re-opened: the timing between courses was too long, but that has improved since then. Enjoyed the caviar service, and the food presentation was fantastic. Very helpful for wine selections too! The ambiance was incredible. The only down side for us was the dessert selection (not a chocoholic and we missed the Gran Marnier Souffles that the old place used to serve)..... highest recommendations for that special occasion!!!!

We live a sheltered life when it comes to dining out, but I doubt I will ever have a finer dinner that my wife and I had at the Plumed Horse. The service was incredible - at one point, wait staff lined up to provide service. The food was equally wonderful. We went two years ago, before the remodel. It was wonderfully "homey" then, and I'm a bit afraid to return to see the new cosmopolitan look, and the current menu is a bit too adventurous for my taste, but I eagerly look forward to returning to Plumed Horse for another amazing evening.
