Great food, great price, great service and very popular. I made the mistake of making a reservation the night before we wanted to go out, so the only time was 9:30PM. It was well worth the wait, however. We really enjoyed Nopa!

Over-hyped but good overall. Based on reviews, I expected the burger to blow my mind. It was tasty but not as spectacular as I expected (Fish and Farm, Flora or Spruce have impressed me more). Rest of the food was fine but, again, not the best California cuisine food I've had. Extremely busy and noisy. We had reservations at 9pm and waited half an hour for our table. Service was very friendly. A fun place to people watch. We had a good time; I wouldn't go back for the food, however. But definitely would be back for the fun atmosphere.

As the food was very good, I was more than disappointed & annoyed with the service that we received. My friends & I had made reservations at 9:30pm on a Thursday, and seeing how it was so late, we were only there to hang out, enjoy some appetizers & drinks. Upon realizing that we weren't there for a full course, the blonde waitress rolled her eyes at us and put on a stink face the entire night, except when sarcastically smiling at us as she asked if we were enjoying our drinks. When we were ready to order more appetizers, one friend tried to get a hold of her w/o seeing a few ppl trailing behind her and she rudely snapped "I'm seating other guests!" I love NOPA, but that waitress really killed the experience, esp. for out of town friends

I'm writing this review not from this evening in August but for a meal there just last week, early April 2011. I love Nopa and we are regulars here. However, the other night something was really wrong in the kitchen. We arrived at 6:45, had cocktails an appetizer, ordered a bottle of wine and two main courses to be served seperately so we could share them and enjoy them both. We waited a long time for our first main course and had finished our wine. The next main course wasn't ready by 8:30. I wanted to cancel it but wasn't sure what to do. We asked the waitress and decided to just have it boxed to go. Our bill including tip was close to $150. I felt they should have comped us the delayed main course which is still in our fridge. Expensive.

Probably the best "pork chop" I have ever had. Simply amazing. The small fried fishes were also a great apetizer and my friend's duck was melt in your mouth. I have paid more than double elsewhere and not been as satisfied as we were at NOPA. Will be back for sure!

I thought the food was superb, and a few in my group had the braised rabbit, which we were lucky to get since they only offer that dish occasionally. The chicken dish I had was near perfection - juicy, the breasts not dry, and the flavors. Make sure you reserve days in advance, or you will have a long wait (but the food is so worth it)!

Nice place, everyone was very friendly and service was great. The food was average so we were very disappointed especially with the prices we paid. We could have had better meals at lower prices somewhere else and with a friend visiting SF, I do regret taking him to a place I've never been to but read good reviews about on Yelp. The flatbread, beers and wine were great. The hanger steak was nothing special, very boring. The halibut was very dry and we forgot to ask if it was fresh; I doubt it was. The pork chop was very good. The broccoli was okay. In general we did not think the food was worth the prices we paid.

The dining experience exceeded our expectations, everything was delicious, and we really appreciate the philosophy of obtaining high quality local ingredients. The wine list was intriguing, & rather eclectic. Naming the grapes in the various wines helped decipher... Our waitress was outstanding, displaying knowledge of the menu, the wines, and even correctly naming the mystery mushroom in the braised duck dish, which remarkably was listed on the menu only as 'mushroom', when in fact it was Maitake, a nice fungal upgrade over the typical 'button' mushroom. And, she knew it was cultivated, as opposed to wild. Most refreshing, as we've seen more than enough misrepresentations about the wildness or not of mushrooms offered on menus...

The food and service were very good. I'm just not sure it's worth the hype and the wait. We were first told our wait would be 1 hour, 45 minutes at 8:30 on a Thursday night. We ended up sitting down sooner than that, but had we waited almost 2 hours, I think my ratings would probably be lower. I had the lamb, which was served with a bread salad. The lamb was good, but slightly salty and a slightly chewy. The special short ribs, served with vegetables, were amazing. The warm goat cheese and the calamari appetizers were also very good. Overall, I'll probably be back once the hype, and the wait, goes down a bit.

A lot of my friends have been to Nopa and have talked highly about their service, delicious food, and renowned wine selections. I had to go to experience what they have told me and by far this restaurant has over exceeded my high expectations and that is really hard to do since I am a restaurant foodie! I would rank this restaurant a 10++ and my top 2 restaurants in the city. The ambiance is spectacular and sitting upstairs you can see all the action down below. I strongly recommend ordering their THICK Pork Chops and to start their chicken soup which was extremely flavorful! I was late for my reservations and it was extremely packed, but the crew was extremely prompt and kind enough to accommodate me and my date immediately.

For a Monday night, NOPA was still hopping after 10pm! I was very surprised by the incoming traffic for dinner. The place is casual as evidenced even by the wait staff's wardrobe. Service was quick. I came here wanting to finally try their "best in the City" pork chop. I also ordered the flatbread and burger. The chop, while not THE best, was probably one of the most tender ones I've eaten. The flatbread was great. The burger was moist, but was a bit too rare for us. The waiter brought it back and the other one was still a bit too rare though.

I ordered the goat, which was tender and delicious. My husband had the roast chicken and we shared an order of baked white beans. They were featuring riesling, so we sampled several of those as well.
