  • Great Dine Out Experience

For our selections this year in Dine Out Vancouver we picked this one because of a desire to try the "chef" to find out the chef left, another one replaced and the Sous Chef was doing the cooking for the day and also made the menu for this event - what a great experience. She is very worthy of being the executive chef at this restaurant and the waitress was very commendable of her expertise as well (the waitress was very good and very aware of our food, wine and opportunity to talk). I would go back to the restaurant if I were in the area again.

The gluten free options meant missing a key part of the dish or ordering the ling cod. The iceberg wedge was very nice. The ling cod was also very nice but the rest of the plate was average.

We were a party of 6 and enjoyed the food and the service. My only comment would be that we all went away hungry. The food was amazing but portions were so small it was nowhere near a dinner size. If we had known the amount of food would be merely a tasting we would have had dinner before going to "dinner" at Diva.

I realize it was during Dine Out but the portions were very very small. I expected we won't be getting full size portions however what was served was like 1/4 of their regular serving. The food was good but I had to have more bread to try to fill that void/ hunger in my belly. Other restaurants are more generous with portions so it's a shame Diva didn't.

I've been a Diva fan since Michael Noble was the exec chef here. The service is personable and attentive. The food is excellent and consistent. The only amiss is the potion. It was very small. Maybe because of Dine Out Vancouver Menu? I'd love to come back when DOV promo is over

Xmas Day meal was a special time at a highly recommended restaurant. All four courses included taste treats I had not experienced before. Unfortunately our original waiter was too busy or unorganized so that other waiters had to step in to serve our meal. The wine matching wines on the main course was forgotten until we got the attention of another waiter. Time between courses became longer until we were prepared to skip last course. If I return will seek out another waiter.

Probably, the restaurant's lighting needs some work. It doesn't have a warm feeling and definitely not festive looking. It was a bit quiet and somewhat dreary looking. I was expecting it to be more busy as there was no 7:30pm or 8pm seating left, only 8:30pm ones. However, the rest. was not even half full when I got there.

What chef Salimian started with molecular gastronomy, Diva has continued. The food was wonderful in taste and ingredient/combination but the presentation was perfection. The lamb belly and sirloin were ridiculously tender and the dessert (with olive oil powder!) was divine. Wine list was small but still good. Ambience was great for a nice evening out even with the xmas music playing softly. Keep up the good work!

Some of the food was excellent, some was just okay. While I appreciate it was a week before Christmas so it was busy, I don't think that justifies really marginal service. Our server was very pleasant, but it took a long time between visits and to get our food. The items served on top of fries (lobster and BBQ pork) were large, but not very hot. Other items, including the cold crab appie were excellent. Not sure I would go back for lunch, but maybe when it was less busy...

This is a fabulous restuarant that doesn't get the crowds of other fine dining restaurants in the area, but deserves attention. The meus are creative and well executed with good variety and the price is lower than other competitors with similar quality, Great bar with some interesting cocktails and an excellent BC heavy wine list. I have eaten their twice and on each occasion it has not been busy which is surprising given the quality and price point. Well worth a visit.

My biggest complaint is with the service staff. They lack confident and this is evident both in their unfriendliness and their level of familiarity with generally food and beverages. The service staff need to be far more sophisticated; I felt they may have been more suitable for a White Spot. On the food, I recognize that haute cuisine isn't about the portion size but I always leave Diva hungry. The dishes come with minimal garnish and the menu doesn't offer much by way of side dishes to add a la carte. The food cart menu is uber-light, even for the lower price compared to the rest of the menu. For all the menu items, I feel they need to add 20% to make them respectable. Nothing wrong with the flavours. The chef is quite good.

It was good but the food took so long to come we began calling it the Starving Menu. By the end we were satisfied, but the first several courses, when one is the most hungry, are especially sparse. We were ready to start knowing on the table legs. Also, several courses are served on stone slabs that leave the table linens very soiled. An odd choice. Very unpleasant... Unsightly and inelegant for such a "fine" restaurant.

Overall we were disappointed in our dinner. The foie gras was presented as flat sheets perked on top of the remainder of the dish. As soon as you touched it it almost feel off the plate and it was not really that appetizing. The lobster salad was good but not great. The tenderloin was presented well but was lost on the very large plate. The lamb was the best dish of the night - perfectly cooked and flavourful. The stilton cheesecake had minimal stilton flavour and the serving was very small.

One of us had the prix fixe which was wonderful, from appetizer to dessert. I had their salad which was great but the pasta was just ok. First of all, the portion was too big and not enough sauce. The taste was good though. Their tiramisu was superb! No wonder the pastry chef won 2 awards for that cake! Would definitely go back on my next trip there but will stick with their prix fixe.

Everything was outstanding - attention to detail, not rushed service as they understood we wanted to enjoy our wine and talk before we ordered, food presentation, portions. Each person in the party ordered a different appetizer and all were served up tastefully and were most flavourful. The entrees were outstanding -- highly recommended is the wild mushroom tortellini that was totally out of this world for flavour and quality.

I highly recommend Diva at the Met for any special occasion. Also, make sure you leave room for their desert.

We chose Diva for our anniversary dinner based on the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Fabulous presentation, knowledgeable waiter and great food. It was very quiet -- a little more energy would have made it a bit more fun. And the pace of food delivery was a bit fast, perhaps because it was so quiet. A slightly more leisurely pace with a bit of time between courses would have been nice. All it all, a really good dining experience.
