The crispy spinach dish was soggy, but the stuffed green peppers were a great surprise (fantastic).

We were running late due to snowmagaddon and they were very accommodating. Cute, quaint restaurant, servers were nice/attentive during the meal, but it took forever to get the check at the end. Don't know if chefs were timid with spices because the restaurant is new, but the food was lacking. I ordered the coconut shrimp dish, listed as a specialty, and I was very disappointed with how bland it was. A friend ordered lamb balls and had the same experience. Though those who got a marsala dish were much happier with their meals and our appetizers, the veggie samosas were good as well. Our drinks were tasty though a tad watered down. I'll give them a few months to find their groove and try again because I really wanted to love this place.

Very enjoyable dining experience. The food, particularly the appetizers, was very good. The service was excellent and the servers very personable without being intrusive. Good wine selection and the wine portions (per glass) were substantial, a rarity for most D.C. restaurants. The added fact that Cafe of India is within walking distance of our house means that we will return often.

The food was quite good and service exceptional. The only drawback that we had was the menu did not have vegetable items that could be ordered as side dishes, with the entrees. The Cafe Appetizer was wonderful and would be recommended.

This restaurant has just recently opened and it was clear that they are getting the kinks out. The build-out is incomplete, the menu is photocopied and needs deciphering, the kitchen needs to work on coordinating simultaneous delivery of meals, and they seem short on staff. We also suspect that they didn't have their Open Table system functioning yet, as they didn't seem to expect us even though we had booked. Having said that, the food was very well-prepared, non-traditional Indian fare. The staff was extremely attentive. We got the impression that they are trying very hard to please. They were such nice people that we're rooting for them to succeed.
