We made a reservation for a party of 6 on our first visit to NYC per my 19-year old son's choice. He is a big fan of Gordon Ramsay and this restaurant was high on his list. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with gorgeous but minimal décor. The service is impeccable. The food is amazing. We started off with 2 orders of Crab Cakes and 2 orders of crab Spread Toast Points - delicious! We then had the Corn and Crab Bisque - very good! My son and his girlfriend shared the Beef Wellington for 2 - So Tender and Flavorful! My daughter had the Steak - Yum! My Mom had the Chicken served over Pureed Potatoes - Scrumptious! My husband had the Lobster Pot Pie - Amazing! I had the waiter-recommended Pan Seared Branzino which was my favorite of all!

I have eaten at many Gordon Ramsay establishments and always walked away impressed. However I cannot say the same about my experience at the Maze. The tables are crammed in to tightly, the menu is very limited and the food while good did not leave me feeling I had experienced culinary greatness. I will not be in a hurry to eat there again.

We went for my wife's birthday and she loved it! We were seated right away. Staff was plentiful and very attentive. We didn't wait for anything. Great wine list and menu. Was hard to choose so we went with the chef's menu. You will not be disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly. Brought a nice dessert out for her birthday and she loved it! Would definitely eat here again!

I've eaten at better restaurants and I felt disappointed since it's a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. Bad service, food overly priced, drinks very overly priced and I will not go back. You get the feel as if you're eating at a hotel restaurant. Dessert was good and the food was average. The portions of the main course was skimpy, they are very stingy! I expected more!!!

Very disappointing. We were excited to dine at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant for my husbands 40th birthday. The food and drinks tasted like they were made in a cheap diner: no care and very little flavor. The staff were curt and lacked grace, attentiveness and general manners. Truly a less than average dining experience on every level. We did not even want to try dessert.

While the food is quite decent here, the disorganized service spoiled the experience. We waited 15 minutes for our table despite a reservation, there was an excessive wait to take our order, bread plates appeared but no bread was served until we finally asked, and after speaking with a manager who graciously agreed to make up for the gaffs, nothing changed and no courtesy was extended.

Restaruant Week menu was varied and excellent: very good food choices, all delicious and a fabulous bargain. Portions were small but regular menu items seemed much larger, as were the prices, of course! My friend and I enjoyed the lunch and I would return to try the regular menu. Glad for the opportunity to sample the chef's work at a reasonable price, thank you!

  • Our New Gold Standard

Our children ages 22 and 18 accompanied my husband and me for a full NYC experience. After having viewed "Master Chef" on TV for a couple of seasons now, we wanted to know if a restaurant with the Gordon Ramsay name associated with it would truly be a dining experience. We were not disappointed. For appetizers, we started off with the crab cakes, which were incredible. Both my 22-year-old son and I both ordered the Beef Wellington and could not believe that this soft texture and out-of-this-world flavor was possible. In addition, we ordered the mushroom side dish which melted in our mouths. We both agreed that the Beef Wellington at the Maze was our new gold standard to which any steak thereafter would be compared.

This past week, we were in NYC and tried this place for dinner. The gentleman who took our cocktail order ( two different house special drinks) did not speak English well enough to understand what we were saying. The view of the storage room by the diner facing the wall was not enjoyed. The beef wellington is a signature Ramsey dish. The waiter tried to talk us out of ordering this dish because he said it was too rare tonight. The desert "chocolate decadence" had little chocolate in it. Overall we were very disappointed since the total cost was $300 for two.

  • Small Portions - Perfect for Lunch

Yes, the portions may be small but the flavors pack a punch. The restaurant week menu was very limited. I am not a person who eats large portions, so they were just right for me. Drinks were expensive. The watermelon salad is more of a sampling plate as there were no "salad greens" per se - a small rectangular chunk of watermelon, grilled and seasoned (olive powder I think), served with a few wedges of heirloom tomatoes, 2 small chunks of feta, 2 thick slices of cucumber and lettuce "shoots" (like pea shoots but were red and green). Each item was placed beautifully on the plate and were delicious together. The chicken with risotto was the perfect size portion and flavorful and the meal was finished with flour-less chocolate cake.

We went there for our anniversary dinner. I had ordered a cocktail. The person who took the order said that it is not going to be sweet but he can ask the bar-tender to make it sweet for me. The drink was very good. We had the crab cake and duck confetti appetizers. The quality of the crab was top class and I loved the duck too. For main course I ordered the chicken and my husband ordered the steak. The highlight of my chicken dish was the onions. Overall our experience was lovely.

We were seated at our reservation time but, since we were early, could have been served early if we chose to sit in the lounge area (near the window). Instead, we sat at the bar and waited for a table. Overall the place was smaller than we expected. Drinks were good. Service was fine. The salads were excellent, appetisers of scallops and tartar were really good - especially the tartar. Wellington done perfectly but the crust was softer than I like it. The main meal included great portions and after all that we still had room for dessert. The zucchini peach dessert was very small but good. Overall very enjoyable. Prices were a little high for what we got and unfortunately we did not realize until we left that the bill was wrong.

This may have just been because of restaurant week but the experience was a disaster. And the table next to us had the same bad experience. - the options for restaurant week lunch were extremely limited (2 items to choose from for appetizers, 2 for main course and only 1 dessert, compared to sometimes 5 or 6 choices per dish in other restaurants). - the food was served cold - the right silverware was not on the table, and took some time to find its way to our table... - bread was asked for several times and came half way through the lunch Very bad experience, does not make me want to go back.

My biggest thing when dinning out is service I have no problem spending money if the service is good. At Maze I found the service very poor. We had a long waiting for food, no attention to guest. We place our order and did see the waiter again until the end of the meal, for our dessert order. He was also not very knowledgable about the menu, we ask him questions about some of the dishes on the menu, and he couldn't provide any explaination or discription. We also waited quite a while to receive our check. Desert was very. Gordon Ramsey is not on the list for a return visit.

My wife, dad and I went to eat at the Maze for dinner. We had an appetizer and main course. Appetizer: Beef Tartar (do not recommend) My father is a retired chef and one of his favorite raw meat delicacies is the beef tartar. However, this beef tartar at the Maze was quite bland and flavorless. I don't know if there are multiple versions of ways to make a beef tartar, but my dad said there were a lot of spices and seasonings missing in this beef tartar. Main Course: Chicken Breast (wfre) & Beef Wellington for 2 (dad and I) My wife's chicken was absolutely fantastic and the beef wellington was amazing. I really can't describe much more than to simply say that these two entrees we definitely recommend.

I had read a lot of reviews before going to this restaurant while in New York and was sad to see that so many were so negative, but decided to try anyways because I've always wanted to try beef Wellington. I was very happy. It was DELICIOUS. The service wasn't "friendly" but it was incredibly professional. We wanted to order an appetizer at first and had ordered the cheese plate for 2, but our waiter stated it was a lot of food and if we were planning on having an entree, we should just get for one. Thank god - it was plenty as an appetizer and our entree (meant for 2) was plenty as well. I was sad to be so full that I had no room for dessert. Very pleased and will definitely recommend and go back if in New York again.

Sorry this is choppy, I had to re-edit the review since I went over by 500 characters. During Restaurant Week, was busy & could not take us earlier then reservation. Came back seated in the bar area. Asked to preview the menu & it never arrived, waited and were only seated AFTER we reminded the hostess. Booth had a center "leg", difficult to sit & place legs or feet. Food good but not great, best part (and only choice btw) was desert. My wife ordered french fries (delicious, crisp, had a "green" colored herb. It was a good thing she ordered them since portion sizes (meal) were small. Wait-staff attentive, "serviced" by different servers for each portion. Since a fan of Gordon Ramsay had higher expectations, maybe just an off day.

I brought my German friends to Maze for lunch while they were visiting NYC. We did not understand why the hostess made us wait at least 15 minutes to seat us when we had arrived on time for our reservation at noon and the restaurant was empty. However, we enjoyed the fixed price lunch that was offered for 'Restaurant Week' and appreciated the good service from the staff. I would definitely come back again for another meal at Maze.

I ate two meals at Maze, lunch and dinner. For lunch, the service was very slow and rather surly, but the food was outstanding. For dinner, the food was truly spectacular and the service very friendly and efficient. So, great food and can be great service, should the server so desire. The beef wellington for dinner was truly exceptional, but perhaps not as amazing as the chicken breast. I have never eaten chicken so well cooked and so flavorful. They also have some nice non-alcoholic options, which is a refreshing change from many restaurants. This is truly a great restaurant, food-wise, and only needs to have more consistent service to be among the best.

I've dined at a few Gordon Ramsay restaurants in London, so I was excited to find one in NYC. I was a little skeptical because it was in a hotel, but it was great. The restaurant was typical of Gordon's style- sleek, modern, comfortable. The menu is small, but different (duck confit tater tots, delicious). The food was perfect, the wine list was extensive, the wait staff service was just OK, but the Somm was terrific. I'll be back.

My son treated me to dinner at Maze-By Gordon Ramsay for my birthday. We started with drinks, which were very good, but pricey even by NYC standards. The meal was very good. The Fish & Chips were hot and chrispy and his lobster pot pie couldn't have been any better. The chocolate decadence dessert was pure "Gordon Ramsay" - as close to perfection as one can get. I am returning to NYC in December and I am planning on dinner at Maze again with my husband this time.

Our first waiter was ok but looked like he was rushing and didn't serve us bread, we got it after a second waiter came with our entrée and we asked if it came with it. I really don't understand why there's a lot of unclean tables. You didn't have bus boy in your restaurant? I feel more welcome with other restaurants. About the food, maybe I expected too much by his shows. They were not bad, really, but there's nothing wonderful.. just so so. The grilled watermelon was nice smell, chicken was well cook but fish had no taste and corn soup was too salty. Maybe I expected too much....
