One can't find fault with Radius' philosophy of sourcing its ingredients within a 100-mile radius of San Francisco; which means you're likely to find Kobe beef from Marin, oysters from Tomales Bay, and cheese from Cow Girl Creamery on the menu. Unfortunately, we found the entrees to be either over-priced or under-portioned, and prepared without flair; it's not enough to be sustainable, one has to win over the palate. One bright spot was the courteous and professional service - quite memorable. The wine list, while not extensive, was good, featuring lesser-known local wineries with perky offerings.

The food was very tasty, although some of the portions were quite small. Our server brought over two different bottles of wine for me to taste before ordering, which was very nice. The time in between courses was interminable, so much so that we did not order dessert as none of us could be out for an additional hour.

Entree prices fair, food is good, very noisy (could use some sound abatement panels on the walls). Wine list is too expensive for entree prices. Less expensive wines on the list unavailable and no substitutes offered. Servers good busboy brusque and needs training. Will be better in six months of experience.

The food and service were both excellent. I liked the seasonal/local focus although they did not hit you over the head with it (for instance the purveyors are listed on the website if you care to see them, but not on the menu). The dishes had creative twists on classic dishes and were delicious. the service was attentive without being obsequious. We were in the front room and the acoustics made it a bit loud (it was fine for the two of us, but might be more annoying if we were in a larger group). I don't know if the back room is better regarding noise. We would definitely go again.

Lovely experience. The food was americanized french food but done in a good way, not the heavy poorly executed way you find in some many middle of the road 'brasserie' style joints. very light flavours, very well presented. A lovely date night or just out with some friends. A little noisy but thats due to the acoustics not the crowd.

Brunch menu was not extensive. It was OK, but not enough to bring us back for a second look. The dinner menu looked a lot more interesting. Why is brunch always given the short shrift with the usual eggs Benedict, croque monsieur and madame and waffles? I thought the fruit bowl (thin apple slices from 3 varieties of apple, in total not comprising a whole apple) at $4 was overpriced

Another great restaurant in the neighborhood!! We've been wanting to try Radius since they opened a few months ago and finally did it.... The restaurant has a very friendly and welcoming staff and the service was prompt and attentive. The food was very tasty. I had the flat iron steak and my partner had the pork dish. We also ordered the polenta with goat cheese which was delicious! And also a side of broccolini with garlic chips... YUMMY!! The restaurant still has that new kind of figuring things out feel to it... But we will definitely go back!

We started with 1/2 dozen Miyagi oysters that were expertly shucked and perfect with sea brine. It was followed by a fig/goat cheese salad, the steak and gnocchi. Desert was the chocolate cake. Everything was sine qua non delicious, from the champagne all the way to the water at room temperature. Our waiter was a young man, passionate about the good food, and he was right with all his recommendations. John and Christian, owners, were attentive and great hosts. The chef is a friend from 'way back when, classically trained in France, and at some of the top restaurants on the East and West coast. Radius has only been open 2 weeks, but there is well deserved pride of place. We had a great time and will return!

The second time dining here, the first time was at the bar on a busy Saturday night. Very much in the the vein of Bar Jules or Bar Tartine. The food is absolutely perfect. Simple rustic cuisine executed flawlessly. I've had both the roasted chicken and the lamb. Two of the most perfectly cooked and balanced dishes I've had in a while. Start with the oysters and gazpacho. Haven't tried the desserts. The wine list is beautiful and compact. It's strictly Northern California wines. A dozen or so wines by the glass, but the bottle prices are great values and the way to go. The space is gorgeous and modern with a large comfortable wooden bar. The service was attentive. All in all, this is definitely one of my new go to spots in Soma.

Hog Island clam starter was awesome...the sauce was "killer" and we each tried to get our bread dipped in 1st! Lamb shank was falling off of the bone, juicy and flavorful. The wait staff was attentive without being pushy; room had a nice edgy, modern feel. I hate to be so harsh, but I don't expect this place to be around next year. To start, the beer and wine lists were really lacking for a San Francisco restaurant. Given all the great breweries and wineries in the greater bay area, the concept of the restaurant ("radius") is no excuse. The cheese and charcuterie plate was good but not spectacular. A couple of us had the trio of pork, thinking there was no way that could go wrong, but apparently there is. On a plate with pork belly, ribs and tenderloin, I did not expect the tenderloin to have the most flavor of the bunch, nor did I know it was possible for pork belly to be bland (how?!). Instead of sticking around for dessert we had some great beers at Bloodhound next door, which was great.
