The food was really, really good. The burger came highly recommended by several staff members and it did not disappoint. The bread and biscuits they bring to the table are amazing and started the night out well. The dishes that came after each topped each other, form the beat salad to the hanger steak.

I loved this place. After so many years of waiting a for a restaurant to feature an american, farm style decor and more importantly, a regionally familiar comfort food menu with the high quality, and attention to detail usually expected from "the old familiar ways" of growing and raising food. I particularly enjoyed the potato gnocchi, whose texture were pleasant to bite into and of course the chicken and dumplings; never an easy dish to make was, very just nice. The fact that something as simple as lemonade was as sublime as it was shows an immense pride on behalf of the management. The staff were friendly and aimed to please....Just loved the farm equipment and rockers too! Definately a winner, as I was there twice in a week!

The service was outstanding and the food was very good. Everything was very fresh. We each had a chicken dish and the only issue I had with mine was the amount of olive oil used in the accompanying greens and beans - I could very much taste the olive oil, which might have been intentional but maybe not. Chocolate pie outstanding. Nice big airy room. We would definitely go back.

What a treat it was to dine at this new restaurant. The menu is small but all dishes pack a punch and are executed to perfection. Will dine here for sure everytime I visit Napa. Thank you Chef Sheamus and team for an awesome lunch and for letting me snap pics like crazy.

Farmstead was definitely a hit or miss experience. The appetizers & sides kicked off our dinner right (meatballs, broccolini & biscuits were all amazing). Our entrees (except for the cheeseburger) were all lacking in some way. Short ribs needed more flavor, risotto needed salt and/or cheese and the chicken was terribly disappointing in addition to the sad wilted greens served along side. Even after reading the SF Chronicle review (unfavorable), we were still excited and thought, "maybe they just had a bad night." Unfortunately, that was not the case. My friends and I have eaten at a lot of very good Bay Area restaurants and were overall quite disappointed with the fare at Farmstead.

We have been several times and Farmstead gets better each visit. I usually have the fish, which is some of the best I have ever had; but I went wild and decided on the Rice (really fab risotto, with mushrooms and lucious legumes). Scrumptious. One guest said he had the best chicken he had every tasted and really presured us to return the following night. The freshness of the food and the way it is prepared is all I need in a completely satisfying and enjoyable meal. The wait staff was delightful, entertaining, knowlegeable and helpful. Part of the whole package of dining out is the help a diner receives from the entire staff and the folks who stopped by our table were the happy and pleasant - our waiter was the best though.

What a great find. We came in earlier than our reservation, and we were seated right away. We had a wonderful dining experience. If you like chicken, the brick chicken is quite good. the chicken with dumpling was raved about from our friend who ordered that. An other friend had the pea soup, and raved. Our table also had a couple orders of steak. They said it was perfect. We brought a bottle of wine, the $2.00 corkage was well received. They also have a good wine list. Their bread service is a tidy basket with an assortment of dinner rolls, so delicious, such perfection. The meatballs are some of the best you will find. I also had the hot beet salad, wow,I loved everything from walking in, to walking out. Thank you Farmstead. Laura Lynn

Our visit to Farmstead was incredible. This was my third visit and Sheamus and his team as usual did an outstanding job! I am hooked on the burger. I have ordered it everytime. Love the bun, pickled cauliflower and shredded cheese. The meatballs are out of this world and the macaroni is something to write home about. Farmstead is a great addition to the restaurants in Napa Valley. Can't wait for the weather to get nicer to enjoy dinner and a glass of wine on the beautiful patio! Keep up the good work guys! Farmstead was jumping the night that we were there but we were seated on time for our 7 p.m. reservation. The service was attentive and our server was very knowledgeable about the foods. (We brought our own wine so we can't comment on her knowledge of wines) The beef products were all superb and amongst our party we had the seared beef starter (carpaccio), the cut of the night-sirloin, and the burger. The burger, as they serve it comes with too much stuff for me (pickled cauliflower???) so I asked for just catsup. I appreciate that it was home made but it was too sweet. Next time I would order the burger naked. The side dishes, potatoes and the asparagus were wonderful also. We would happily return.

Our entire dining experience was spectacular thanks to the staff at Farmstead! I chose LMR's Sangiovese from the tasting room and enjoyed that before dinner while my husband had a perfect cocktail from the bar. I ordered the delectable "potted pork" starter and then had steak with marrow butter and asparagus...an over-the-top yummy, rich meal! And my husband's arugula salad and short ribs and biscuits were also delicious; perfectly executed. Service was friendly and professional and the room had a great vibe. This was our first time but we are definitely looking forward to the outside bar this summer...and working out way through Farmstead's menu!

Farmstead is the hot new place to see and be seen. The meatballs and biscuits were as fabulous as ever. Beet salad was great, too. I was happy with my pork chop though it was not outstanding in any way. The "green" dish tonight was a wonderful broccoli. My husband liked the chicken and dumplings though I found them too heavy. My wife and I went Saturday night. The building is beautiful and will be the place to go in the summer with all the outside seating. Nice inside but a little noisy (which I suppose you have to expect on Saturday night). The potted pig is very rich but tasty. The salad was OK but a little too much chicory messed up the balance in what would have otherwise been a great salad. The pork chop was also very tasty but a little chewy. My wife had the grass fed beef - the special was sirloin. This was ridiculously tough and required she ask for a new sharper steak knife to cut it. It had no flavor or any other redeeming quality. The Meyer Lemon pie for dessert was awesome! Portions sensible, prices reasonable.

This was our first visit to Farmstead and we will be back. The restaurant utilizes excellent local sources for their ingredients and you can taste it in the food. A simple arugula salad provided a great contrast in flavors...pepper from the lettuce, salt from the cheese and dressing. The "brick" chicken was the table favorite, with its crisp crust and succulent meat. Overall, A+.

Good food and nice atmosphere but the noise is a big detraction. In addition, they should shut off the background music. The pace was much too fast. We had our entrees as soon as the first course was finished and the waiter said he would make sure to give us time between the 2 courses. With so many good places in wine country, they will need to fix the issues mentioned above. The $2 corkage is a great idea.

We think Farmstead hit a home run bringing their organic meats and veggies to the Napa Valley dining scene. Everything we had was delicious - a warning on the beef - while it is scrumptous you have to be prepared that it is lean and somewhat chewy...but we thought that it was the best grass-fed beef we've ever had! It's not clear whether noise - means little noise or because it's minus, that means it's a negative report, too noisy. ISame conundrum with noise + . Therefore, I have not noted above. The fact is, the restaurant is still very noisy, considering the hard surfaces. Food was delicious. I was with a food pro + her husband who both very much enjoyed lunch. I did, too - potted pork (rillettes) and side of broccoli rabe-like greens. Everyone talks about Farmstead. Good for you!

All we can really remember was that it was SO LOUD. The next day my voice was hoarse from having to yell in order to converse. At least a half dozen times I had to ask my dinner mates to repeat themselves because I simply could not hear them. Ordered the beet salad and while it was good, it had very few beats in it. The grits and vegetables were the highlight. Husband got the burger and he liked it. Another had the chicken and dumplings and reported it was tasty. We hear they are going to offer outdoor seating and once it's open perhaps we’ll go back but until then our voices and hearing won’t be able to take it. TOO LOUD.

Nice time. Busy and a little noisy, but that can be ok also depending on what you are looking for, did not distract once we were in place. Food was really good, but not great. Server was very friendly but could of been a little more attentive, but again they were pretty busy. Ambiance was warm and friendly, contemporary farm, well done, large space, open etc. Prices were moderate and fair. Corkage was fantastic and I think will encourage people to eat there, buying wine in restaurants often runs more than the food itself. Will probably go again, and will say good things about it to friends and clients.Overall good experience.
