  • Catering: Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by owner Susan Kaufman and Chef Josh Green. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, Maxine Holtzman, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.
  • Entertainment: Serafina offers live music every Tuesday Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings as well as Sunday brunch and the "First Wednesday" of every month. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.

A word from Serafina
Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Ambiance was great with live music. Food was delicious. Desserts were just okay. I would skip the dessert and get one of the many bottles of italian wines they have instead.

This was our third time to Sarafina and the best! We had a great table in the window, Liz, our Waitress, obviously loves the restaurant, food and her job. Her descriptions made the printed word of the menu leap out in 3D...or 4D. We will be back!

Food was very good, but the service was incredibly slow. It may have been because we sat outside on a cloudy Friday night and they weren't anticipating how many people would sit outside, so there was 1 waitress. It tools theman hour to figure out she needed help. Also, the outdoor furniture is really uncomfortable if you have any back sensitivities. The table legs also make it hard not to bump your knees, and I am not a tall person.

I have been going to Serafina for my birthday dinners for almost 20 years and have never been disappointed. The wait staff are helpful and happy to be serving you. The entrees are delicious and plentiful. We ended with their yummy red velvet cake. The entire evening met my wishes for a perfect birthday dinner out with friends.

Even on a busy night, Serafina is quiet with all it's busy-ness and quite romantic. The food is always outstanding (5 out of 5) and the service is almost ALWAYS great. Had a new server take care of us this evening and had a couple of mishaps, but the atmosphere and great food overshadowed the less than perfect service.

The food at Serafina was delicious, but the service was so slow that it ruined our evening. We waited 20 minutes before we were even approached by our server to see if we wanted to order a drink, let alone the delay in getting our drinks, appetizers, and entrees. While the food was wonderful the service was not and we would think twice about returning.

This was our first time at Serafina and we had a wonderful evening. It's a lovely spot, the food is excellent and the place is both big and popular, but still makes its customers feel special. The ambiance is truly something unique, a function of both the one of a kind building and a great eye for what makes a restaurant a success. The inside area can get noisy so it might not be the best choice for someone who has trouble hearing over background noise but other than that we'd strongly recommend it to everyone.

The good: They do pasta very well and their salads are very fresh. The pasta was not drowning in sauce, and was simple without an overabundance of ingredients. The service is also attentive without being obtrusive. The bad: The Calamari Saltati was one of the worst dishes I've ever had. The squid was rubbery and over-salted and over-chili flaked. It was a bad start to the meal. The pasta dishes somewhat atoned for this, but then came the dessert, or rather the dessert wine. The glass of Moscato d'Asti I ordered was flat. I sent it back, the waiter returned with the same glass, saying it was a still Moscato d'Asti. Sorry, but Moscato d'Asti is always in the frizzante style. Waiter ironically returned and opened a new bottle at the table.

I'm very picky when it comes o Italian food so take the ratings with a grain of salt. Our appetizer (mussels) was good, and while the pasta and bechemel sauce in my lasagna was good, I didn't care much for the tomato sauce, it was too thick for me. My wife had chicken which was also good and tasty.
