"Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine" translates into "there is at least one ingredient you won't recognize" (check out their menu). Half the fun is experimenting so go for it although I would strongly recommend the fish over the meat entrees. Butterfish was excellent, cooked to perfection but the sauce, for me, was a little on the sweet side (that Hawaiian effect) but not overwhelming. Service was great although the waitperson was not that knowledgeable about the ingredients, or the fish. We asked for and got a fairly quiet table in the side room as the main section is really noisy and it was Saturday. I would recommend Roy's because the menu is really, really different and the food is very good.

Roy's provides a great ambience with excellent food for those looking for a different option to cookie cutter places to eat. From sushi to sides to entrees and desserts - there is something for everyone. There are two menus: one you can get at any Roy's and another created by the local chef.

  • Nice overall

We had a nice time overall. My only complaint was that after encouraging us to start with a Hawaiian Martini one of them was barely half full. At north of ten dollars each we were disappointed to begin the evening. They tasted good, but neither the bartender nor the waiter should have served a half full drink. We selected two expensive wines by the glass to go with our meals and again the pours were barely adequate I'd not measly. The food was very good, the portions were just right, and the edamame to start the meal was a very nice complimentary feature. We will return but they are skimping on the drink serving sizes despite charging a premium for alcohol.

Roy's is an interesting place...Food was very good, had the Mahi and the spicy seafood hot pot. The service was a little off and given that the restaurant was very slow it should have been better. Atmosphere is stale...nice place but won't be returning.

This is a lovely restaurant and is very popular. Service is excellent and attentive. However, for $200 for the two of us, I expected pretty near perfection. Both of our sides were either cold or way over salted. My husband's fish was over cooked. We were seated at a table near the front that was right in the middle of foot traffic and it was distracting. There are too many other options in this area to try them again.

The staff was very courteous and attentive. The food was good but much better can be had for the price. Maybe we just need some guidance. I started with a caesar salad which came out with an imperceptible amount of dressing. I don't care to use much dressing in salad but there was so little I don't know why they bothered. I had Filet and Lobster but was surprised by how little flavor the filet delivered. The lobster was better but still left me wanting. We had lobster dumplings as an appetizer which I didn't care for that much but my wife enjoyed. She had a ribeye and allowed me to sample it which was really very good, definitely the best food of the night. For dessert we had macadamia nut bread pudding, which was a delight! Excellent!

Long a favorite for a special night out, this visit was disappointing. Service remained above average, but food quality left much to be desired. Actually, everything - my lamb chops and my wife's fish dish - was so over-salted it was impossible to sense or evaluate any other nuances or flavors of the dishes. The wine list, though limited, was broad enough to fit the bill, and the ending cup of coffee may have been the highlight of the evening.

Four of us were at Roy's last Friday night. Our reservation was for 7 pm but we got there at 6:30 to have a drink in the bar. They said they could seat us immediately. The dining area was not crowded and never did fill up completely during the two hours we were there. By 8:30 the place was pretty empty. We really enjoyed the appetizers: Edamame, calamari, tuna tartare (poke), and several sushi rolls from their limited selection. All were excellent. The entrees, however were only a little better than OK. I had the butterfish which would have been good, but the sauce is way too sweet. Everyone else felt the same way - the appetizers were much better than the entrees.

The food selection was awesome, every dish is special and every bite was delicious. I had an older male waiter who was exceptional slow and inattentive. My 20 minute dessert took 35 minutes to make and although it was a Hawaiian Treat the portion size was small and not worth the expensive price tag. Between the wait time and small portion the desserts are over prices.

We have been to several Roy's restaurants. The food has always been excellent. At this location the choices were by far the most extensive we have ever see,and partaken. So the choices were excellent the service nice, but near the end a little slow, and the food a cut above the already Roy's excellence. Our only complaint was the decor. Not very bright or vibrant . There were two walls completely bare which could accommodate one of the lively bright Hawaiian prints like we see in Arizona. This one was exactly like the one we visited in Florida, also walls a little dull. In addition the manager made numerous rounds to ask how meals were going and twice he neglected our table. .?? We are often in Plano, our son lives a few blocks away.

Ebi and California rolls were outstanding. Butterfish - unbelievable. Cesar salad less than ordinary, but then why go to Roy's for salad (wife wanted one)? Macadamia mahi mahi was dry as was the salmon, and the cocktails were fine but overpriced. I'll go back - maybe it was an off night - as what they do well they do really really well. But it does seem to be slipping a bit.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday a couple weeks ago. He told me to pick a restaurant I'd never been to, but had been wanting to try. I made a note that it was my birthday, so it was cute that they put a little note on the table, as well as the dessert at the end (Happy Birthday in Hawaiian). I orderdered the wagyu beef sushi roll as an appetizer - amazing. Butterfish (cod) for dessert - incredible, and the chocolate souffle is amazing as well. The only thing that was 'ok' was the lobster mac, surprisingly. Service was great, just an overall great experience for my birthday dinner.

My husband ate filet mignon and for me cod fillet, both excellent. Service was also excellent. Very kind and knowledge team. The wine list was almost all from California , so no much to try from Europe, but was fine. We have a great time. I strongly recommend this rest.

But the chocolate souffle is probably the most sinful thing I've ever put in my mouth!! Kudos to the chef on everything (but especially the souffle :)
