Second time I've been to The Daily Planet. I love when a restaurant is TAKING CREATIVE RISKS. These guys are THINKING and have a great menu with reasonable prices. I took business associates there for dinner. Everyone loved it. Great place because the food is good but it also speaks to being a Vermont business. Great for guests from out of state.

Restaurant called to confirm reservation. Table was ready when we arrived. Smaller menu, but very nice selections of differing sizes and food types. Nice presentation. Service was slower, but we were not in a hurry, and had a table of 8.

We looked for a restaurant off Church ST, but was disappointed with our meal. The chicken was very dry and very bland, and the potatoes also not great. The next day my husband couldn't even remember what he had, not because he drank too much, just not memorable. Cute name and cute room in the back.

We've enjoyed many delicious meals at the Daily Planet. It is among the 3 or 4 restaurants that we choose from when coming to Burlington for an evening event. The food is consistently very good and creatively prepared. It's especially convenient to be able to book a reservation online and for a smaller size party.

Seated in the Solarium, a flashback to the 70"s. Edamame with olive oil and black sea salt as a starter with a couple of their special cocktails. BBQ duck confit and porcini dusted steak were both hits! The one of us who does not like coconut cake enjoyed the coconut cake with lemon-ginger curd. Seemed like we were the only non-locals there (not a bad thing), on a Tuesday night.

We had a trainee shadowing our server, who was abrupt and gruff and not really paying attention to the situation. Wine by the glass was a small pour. Bartender did not know how to make the drink we requested, so rather than ask or admit that, made it wrong. Duck confit was oversalted. Poutine gravy was bland and needed salt. Poutine ($9) severely lacking in cheese curds; it was a scavenger hunt to find them. All in all, it was the kind of experience that one has shortly before a restaurant goes belly-up, from the service to the drinks to the food.

The menu is small, but has variety, and the food is well prepared. The salad Nicoise was very good, though perhaps a bit under-dressed. The pasta primavera had a good variety of vegetables, a nice sauce, and the added shrimp were cooked properly.

This restaurant serves good food with something for everyone. The decor is pleasant, two separate dining rooms one of which is a lovely atrium and a bar that is separated from the eating spaces. This time the service was sketchy. The waitress "forgot" to put our order in and we had a performance time to make . She was, however, friendly and attentive otherwise so this was probably a rare mistake. The walls are brick with no carpeting or curtains which tends to make the main dining room noisy. Great location in the middle of downtown Burlington on a quiet street. I don't believe there is a space for outdoor dining. My main complaint is the noise but I do return to the Daily Planet at least two or three times a year.

Hadn't been here in ages, but was lured back by local Restaurant Week. Of the several places we tried, this was hands-down the best. The ingredients were fresh. The sauces were subtle and enhanced rather than hid their flavor. The desserts were superb. I will not let years go by again without enjoying what The Planet has to offer!

We had a very enjoyable evening at The Daily Planet. I've been there a few times before and enjoyed it, but my date hadn't. She found the experience to be enjoyable and can't wait to go back. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, especially the deserts and wine. I loved that I didn't have to shout to be heard and I didn't feel like it was quiet enough that others were listening to our conversation.

Food here is always excellent. Mondays are half-priced burgers which are delicious. Service is friendly and accommodating. Everyone at my table loved their food. Off of Church Street so not as crowded as some of the other restaurants. Outside looks a little funky (it is Burlington!) but it is a great place that only the locals seem to know about! On the weekend try to get a reservation as it can be busy Friday and Saturday nights.

The spice in the Green Thai Curry had a kick to it. It wasn't overwelmingly hot so that you'd drink all your water in one sip. The Kale Salad surprised my friend because it had big chunks of baccon and just enough Goat Cheese (?) to make it tasty. The Edamame had a nice light salty taste. I don't usually like Edamame but it was good. The presentation of the food was pleasing to the eye for the Kale Salad and Edamame. The sauce was dribbled on the Kale Salad and the Edamame had two bowls. One for the uneaten and the other for the 'shells.' However, the Green Thai Curry seemed to have been thrown in the bowl last minute. It was busy and relatively loud but that is expected when going out to dinner on New Years Eve. The staff were friendly.

I went to the Daily Planet for dinner on New Year's Eve. The reservation had originally been for 4 people, but the restaurant was able to change it to 6 people for us at the last minute, which was great. I had the calamari as an appetizer and then the planet burger for dinner. The food was good, but we weren't told that the planet burger special price didn't apply, presumably because it was a holiday. I would have gotten something else had I known that there wasn't a special that day and I feel like they should have told us before we ordered. Other than that, I enjoyed the restaurant and had a good time there.

Interesting nouvelle cuisine. It is difficult to attach it to any one cuisine. I had the pork, which was basically a nice pulled pork with a good sweet barbecue sauce. My partner had a lovely pasta dish with an interesting mushroom cream sauce. Not my favorite place in Burlington to eat, but it certainly deserves a chance. Very nice wine list.

We felt like our table was scheduled to be turned quickly from the moment we sat down. Our salad was rushed out to us, before my wine was delivered, and our bread came after. I had to ask for another glass of wine after it standing empty for several minutes. We had to get our waitress' attention to ask if we might have a cup of coffee and then had to ask if we could look at a dessert menu. It just seemed like the waitress wanted us to leave so she didn't want to offer us anything. The check was dropped while we still had our dessert on the table and a half cup of coffee.

Creative menu but the food was consistently under-seasoned to the point of blandness. The Chef needs to taste his food before sending it out. Usually when we go - it's great. This time not so much. The cucumber and feta salad (appetizer) was OUTSTANDING. The vegetable curry (I got it with the Salmon) was not that great. The apple pie dessert, also disappointing. The dessert was served with a spoon but you needed a fork and knife to get through the dessert. I'm thinking either the original Chef left or they had an off night. Still I think worth a try. Usually the food is really great.

I really enjoyed dinner here. The local farmers are supported and the quality very good. The meats were cooked to perfection and the presentation outstanding! Size/quantity may not be as generous as other places for the price, but the quality of the food and the local sourcing more than made up for that. I appreciated that they were familiar with gluten-free and the server could advise accordingly. People on the paleo diet would appreciate their grain-free/gluten free selections. The organic teas were a surprise delight. Atmosphere quaint especially in the greenhouse section. Quiet. Nice. Overall well done. We'll be back.
