A word from Canoe Restaurant and Bar
Critically acclaimed to be among Canada’s best restaurants, Canoe's unique location high atop the TD Bank Tower affords a breathtaking view of the city and Lake Ontario. The design, originally conceptualized by noted designers Yabu Pushelberg and most recently refreshed by Anacleto Design, is clean and simple, yet absolutely stylish - a brilliant reflection of Canada's rich raw environment. That same brilliance is captured through the flavours and textures of Chef John Horne's inspired regional Canadian cuisine. The menu showcases the freshest and finest Canadian fish, game and produce, as well as an outstanding selection of Canadian vintages. "All that is Canadian defines Canoe." Florence Fabricant, The New York Times

The entire experience, from the confirmation call in the morning through to the final bill and retrieving our coats from the coat check, was excellent. My only regret is that the restaurant is far too expensive for me to go more than once a year or so. We thoroughly enjoyed the "Taste Canoe" menu option, and even my "I don't like wine" husband appreciated the skill with which the wines were matched to each course.

We expected much much more from one of the 'best restaurants' in town. The ambiance is good (very corporate though), service is excellent, but the food was somewhat disappointing. Maybe our expectations were simply too high... Still, we can easily list a dozen of better dining experiences.

It's my first time there and I was impressed. I work in the food industry as well and I know how hard it is to make a perfect dish, however, Canoe did it. Sure will return.

  • I made this reservation with
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

I made this reservation with a surprise happy birthday for my guest on his desert plate, and when we arrived the hosstest spoiled it by saying "so were celebrating a birthday this evening". My guest had no idea that anything was planned for his birthday as it was a few days away. The food was terribly to salty, the service was too slow (it took 15 mins to get a glass of coke). When I told the manager on duty what had happend he didnt appoligise nor seem to care. We will never go back.

  • My wife and I have been to
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

My wife and I have been to Canoe three times. The first time was a few years ago, and though the experience was not nearly as great other restaurants we'd included on our food tour that year, we had heard enough buzz that we decided to try again to see if perhaps the chef had just had an unremarkable day. The second visit was spectacular; the food was amazing, and the service exceptional. Canoe's slightly higher price tag over it's competition seemed well deserved. This year we went back for a third time. We were served a greasy, unappetising lunch over a period of approximately 2 hours, most of which were spent waiting for service. Only word that comes to mind is 'unreliable' and, given the price, unacceptable. Never again.
