A pretty, if somewhat generic, dining room serves as the backdrop for pretty, if somewhat generic, food. We enjoyed the crab cakes, but were less impressed by a very "fishy" sea bass. The Beef Wellington had a standard, but solid presentation. The service was pleasant, and the wine list was excellent for a middle-brow restaurant.

I felt that the meat was not "prime", yet the ala carte price was about comparable to that quality in other restaurants. My NY steak was almost dry. And it wasn't very large for the price. The service was friendly and prompt. My cocktail was perfect. In general, if the Carmel Room is looking for ways to increase traffic (which must be the case given the light crowd on a Saturday) they would do well to reduce prices, stop all the ala carte sides. Yes, there is the 3-course special, but it is limited and it, too, could be priced about $5 lower, given portion sizes and selections. We will likely go back.

Not the best prime rib I've eaten - it was very chewy. But, overall, the rest of the food was wonderful.

  • The ambiance, the location
    SeretShopper
    Dined on 1/23/2010
The ambiance, the location and the food were terrific. We apparently hit an off night for our waiter. Although our food was delivered perfectly cooked, our waiter went out of his way to be just short of rude. He changed his story about ordering an item from the prix fixe menu, neglected to ask all of us about about ordering from the desert menu, and did not offer additional coffee, though he did offer more hot water for tea.

  • Living in Las Vegas there
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009

Living in Las Vegas there are a lot of decent Steakhouses, but the Carmel Room was a step above for New Years. I mistakingly made a reservation for the wrong night at the Carmel Room (which was our first time there), yet the manager was very understanding and accomodating and we were seated immediately. (Customer service such as this will always earn my business). Pricing was reasonable for the holiday and the wait staff and management were superb, the food preparation and presentation was excellent. I definitely will consider the Carmel Room as my first choice in the future and recommend this one to all.
