The place was relaxed for a sunday night dinner but i imagine it would be good for a romantic dinner. We ordered cocktails which were delicious, the pineapple mojito was very tasty. I dont normally have a starter but we spied a sharing dish on the menu, i cant remember what it is called and isnt on the menu. To mee it seemed like an italian quesadilla with mushrooms and cheese. It was delicious though. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was very tasty as it was proper carbonara made with eggs, which is something i never seemed to have had in restaurants in scotlands. My friend had fettucinni alfredo with champignon mushrooms. I wasnt a fan of it personally but she loved it. All in all i would definately come back should i return to NYC.

Have returned over and over to Candela Candela. The food is quite good. Depending on the night, the wait-staff can be either very very good or seem to forget you exist. The atmosphere is fun and lively, but if it is a night where live music is being played, beware the table near the musicians because you can barely hear yourself. Overall, a fun, yummy place that I've been back to again and again and have introduced several friends to. Always a pleasure to go back!

Our party got there before 7PM so we were able to take advantage of the 2 for 1 margaritas which were good. The food was good, service was friendly and the jazz was fun, but the restaurant is not large and it gets loud-this is not the place to take someone that you want to have long conversations with--but the place is energetic and a fun place to be on a Saturday nite.

I ate at "Candela candela" for my anniversary. I was never been there before, I have to say, the place was so nice, great atmosphere due to the soft light and the live jazz music. Food was amazing, presented in well composed dishes and (more important) it was aboundant. The service was excellent, I would want to thank the waiter Diego for its kindness. I come from Italy and I like good food; "Candela Candela" is been for us a very good restaurant. Erica

We went with friends and had a nice time. Menu is interesting - one side Cuban, one side Italian. Food was nothing to write home about. I ordered a special corn appetizer that was 2 small ears of corn smothered with mayo. We were forced to eat it with our hands and it was a mess. Yuck. I followed with some ceviche which was fine. One of our friends ordered a special mozzarella salad described as layers of vegetables and cheese. His dish came late and when it came, it was a big ball of burrata. He probably got the wrong dish though I am not sure how because when he ordered, he had pointed to a special on a menu separate from the main menu. Not sure we would go back.

The food was excellent. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the food immensely. However, the tables are really close together, and the 2 girls next to us were incredibly loud and obnoxious,; the waiter was completely oblivious and took forever to take our order, pick up the check, etc.; and, it may have been because we had the Scoutmob coupon, but gratuity was automatically added to the bill (for just 2 of us)--a 20% gratuity!

When we arrived, there were only a few diners (it was a Tuesday night) and the waitress was quick to seat us. Within minutes we had our wine and appetizers. Unfortunately, the appetizers tasted like they were microwaved. The outside was hot and the inside was ice cold. Within seconds of bringing our appetizers, the meal showed up while we barely had time to complain about the appetizers. Although the staff seemed very nice and welcoming, the food was just ok. Our entire dining experience took about 40 minutes, and I felt rushed. I would not return to this restaurant.

I chatted with the charming bartender and sipped a delicious mojito as I waited for the rest of my party. The delightful and knowledgeable staff makes you feel right at home. This is the best Italian food I have had since I was in Italy. My boyfriend (a Cuban-American) said the ropa vieja was authentic and just melted in his mouth. I can't wait to go back!

We started with the best mojitos I've ever had in the city. We tried both the regular menu as well as some specials. The carbonara and octopus carpaccio were out of this world.
