The waiter was great, seated us, gave us some time to look at the menu, then took our order and brought us bread while we waited. The food took a while, but we didn't mind too much amidst the conversation. However, the food was not at all as expected. We all ordered the eggs benedict-- some the Norwegian, but what we got weren't poached eggs, they were hardboiled eggs cooked without shells on. The yolks were not runny as one would expect eggs benedict to be, they were completely hardened.

To be fair, our waitress was a trainee, but she had no veteran supervising her, and kept wandering away in the middle of taking drink and food orders. Food took over 30 min to come, and was really lackluster once it did. I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, so I was sad to see the diminished quality of the food and service. The host/lead waiter (not sure which) was lovely, but that did not make up for the issues. They sent a free drink at the end of dinner, which was well intentioned, but it was some gross chocolate liquour. Would rather they had just lessened the bill or asked what we wanted as a desert or drink. Sorry to say I won't be back.

We've been there before. Although my husband doesn't love the Cuban side, I have enjoyed all my Cuban and Italian meals. We took relatives from Puerto Rico on Saturday who seemed to enjoy their Cuban steak dishes. Drinks are good, as is music and service. The maitre d's are extremely welcoming which makes a big difference.

Had an amazing experience at Candela Candela. The food was absolutely delicious! I came here with a few good friends of mine and we enjoyed every bite. From our bruschetta to Candela Ravioli to the Ceviche Caliente everything was worth a try. The flavors all blended together so well and the drinks were an amazing way to top off a great meal! The mojitos are to die for and I will definitely be returning soon!

My friends and I , four people, stopped by Candela for pre game dinner on Sunday afternoon and were thrilled by the opportunity to try to both Cuban and Italian food under one roof, especially that all our tastes differ. And we were very pleased we chose this place. The atmosphere is very cosy and home, the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable About the menu. The room was full and we still got enough attention and excellent service. We shared 4 appetizers and 4 entrees and a bottle of wine. food came on time and was simply delicious.empanadas, tuna tartar, camarones al ajillo, lamb chops and ceviche caliente were my favorite. We will be back for more. I heard they make great cocktails so I can't wait.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 12/23/2011
I threw together at the last minute an impromptu dinner for my birthday. I was kind of on the fence about the place as I already have fave Cuban places (one in Harlem and another in Brooklyn). The service was decent as was the food. I decided to give them the extra star because they were quite accommodating to my 10-person group. The two checks weren't separated properly, the mojito I had was decent at best, but at least it was in a place where my friends and I could find decent parking. In the future, I don't think I will return for dinner, but maybe lunch is an option.

We had a group of 10 people, a family reunion of sorts celebrating some holiday cheer, and quality time together, and Matthew and the rest of the staff of Candela Candela made our experience that much better. The food was phenomenal, Matthew took great care of us - a truly great experience all around.

The night we ate here it was snowing and raining but we really wanted to go, and I’m glad we did. The food was fresh and flavorful. I had the Candela Ravioli. The raviolis were cooked perfectly. They were little pillows smothered in cream sauce with chopped walnuts that gave the dish crunch. A Perfect dish. The staff was accommodating very warm and sweet. The atmosphere was peaceful and intimate. It’s a wonderful place for a date.

They asked us to wait 15 minutes for the kitchen to be opened when we had made reservations at 7pm, they didn't take our orders until almost 8pm. The wait wouldn't have been so bad if the food was worth it but I would not recommend the ropa vieja, they use marinara sauce on it.

I have been there with my daughter a couple of times for an early weeknight dinner and we liked it. My husband and I went on a Saturday night with another couple and had a great time! Food was delicious - especially the daily specials - my husband had the oxtails and it melted in your mouth - we also tried the chicken livers (recommended by the waiter)and they were superb! We enjoyed a nice wine (also recommended by waiter) and some nice live jazz. Ww will definitely go back...again & again!
