Another amazing weekend in San Diego topped off with a stop at our favorite dining experience in the city. Beautiful ambiance, great food and another memory of great food, great people and a happy memory! And try the steak! For the inexpensive cost ($22), it's the best value and cooked to perfection!

I am happy to say that this is mine and my fiancé's favorite place to go for dinner and a mule. We have made it a tradition to go here for our anniversary and birthdays. We got engaged at your restaurant and have made it our special place. Thank you for our wonderful memories we have made. Also thank you Jack (at the bar) for giving us such wonderful service.

Wonderful local food . I had a veggie frittata that was more like a quiche. Very tasty and served with pinto beans on a bed of fresh greens. Plus there is a full cocktail bar that doesn't gouge with inflated prices. Worth going again? Yea you betcha.

The friendly staff is honestly what makes this place a standout. This place is pretty good for food in San Diego, but the Moscow Mule is the best here; it's not very strong, but it does make for a nice, refreshing drink in a chilled copper mug. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the energy is lively.

Restaurant came recommended by a few of my friends. Drinks were mediocre, food overall, was dry. I ordered a split salad for appetizer for me and my girlfriend and it came out at the same time as the food. When I commented on that the waitress was very hostile and then never came back to the table. We had veggie and regular burgers. Both dry with too much bun. Drinks nothing special and expected more from a website that posts them all over their website.

The times I've been to this restaurant, the food was truly amazing. The drinks are also really special, I am personally a fan of the mule. It's a really beautiful date spot or cool for a group of friends, it's just a chill place to be with people you love. The staff have always been nice and welcoming, very professional and run their A game obviously. We like to go there because it feels special.

If you're looking for good quality food (they support local farmers) and a tasty mule (they have a full bar) later into the evening (9pm onwards), stop by this neighborhood gem in Mission Hills/Little Italy area. Starlite's last call for food is just before the midnight hour and drinks are still served a little thereafter. I made reservations and they promptly seated us upon arrival. Parking is street parking unless you can find a parking in their very small lot adjacent to the restaurant. Be prepared to show your ID , too!

The Starlite lounge was a nice place to go. The drinks were great but the food options were very limited. The entrees in particular. They had different food options but only one choice of each option. I guess that I'm used to having several steak and chicken options but other than that the atmosphere was awesome. I'm going back again for happy hour for sure but will go some where else for dinner.

We had a date night at Starlight this past weekend and absolutely loved our dinner. The food was great; the service was prompt and courteous; and, the cocktails/beer list were very good. The ambience is the real star at Starlight. It's the reason we will definitely be coming back again.

My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary on a Sunday. The atmosphere was a little dark but romantic. The waiter sat us in a corner booth which was perfect for talking. The food was amazing and worth the price. He had the steak, I had the chicken. Both were very delicious. If you go during happy hour, drinks are reasonable. Our bill came out to about $100 which included an appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert and 5 drinks. I find it strange, though, that the wait staff wear plaid shirts. Maybe that's what they are aiming for but it seems a bit off. Parking is also a little strange, as the only spots available are up a hill. Not too difficult but worth being aware of. Overall, a very good experience and I would recommend this spot to friends.

We enjoyed all of the food ordered including appetizers, entrees & dessert. We were seated in the covered patio area & they were very accommodating about relocating the outdoor heater closer to our table. Jidori chicken & the special burger were hits for the evening as well as the ice cream sandwiches.

I love this place. This is the second time my husband and I have been here (once for brunch and once for dinner), and both times have been a great experience. Matt was our server and he was very prompt bringing us all of our courses. My husbands food came out just a fee degrees above warm and when we told him, he was quick to take it back and bring out a hot entree. The atmosphere is gorgeous and intimate. The signature drinks are delicious and unique. I had a cucumber martini and I wish I could get it anywhere I go. I work at courtyard by Marriott in the gas lamp and since this place is so close, I'm going to start recommending it to my guests.

  • So-so
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 2/15/2014
This restaurant sells itself as farm-to-table fresh but really just so-so food served in a bar setting. Nothing special or particularly fresh. Though we had early reservations, we were told that the grilled octopus (one of the "fresh" appetizers featured on their menu) was not available. Also, much too dark for a restaurant--we could barely see what we were eating. Lastly, aside from our waiter who introduced himself, we couldn't differentiate staff from patrons. All were dressed in street clothes and would randomly pass by our table to take plates, refill water, etc. Weird.

It's the charm of looking up at the atmosphere brought down to earth. Accessible and inviting its almost as if the food compliments the experience. They were serving a Prix Fixe menue the V-Day evening my fiancé and I went, and though the food was good, I will need to come again to really experience the menue. I certainly recommend it. Enjoy it with a group, with a someone, with friend. Just enjoy it.

From my table's experience, we had hits and misses. The nuts and olives appetizer was excellent, as was the potato gratin appetizer. The green salad was bleh, it's dressing was either not enough or just lackluster. The garlic and wild rice pancakes were not horrible, but they were not great either, they just tasted like pancakes. Chicken and barley soup, and the kale caesar was very good.

I ordered the octopus and a salad for dinner, which were very good. But that's all that looked good to me on the menu. The entrees portion of the menu is very small. If I went back, I would have a hard time picking something new to order. The Moscow mule was delicious! Crossed it off my list, probably won't go back.

We waited FOREVER to get served. There was a large group of over 20 that got there just before us. However, since the Bloody Mary's were served to us right away, we relaxed and didn't mind the wait. The food (chilaquilles) were great, and the outdoor upstairs eating area was really nice. The only thing we had an issue was the DJ did not do a new year count down. I feel like that is very important to help celebrate the night. That's what makes it different from any other night. A group of us went for NYE as Starlite was having a pre-fixe dinner and NYE party. The service was great and we enjoyed the meal. We were very happy to find a local restaurant/bar where we didn't need to spend 300 each just to celebrate the new year. Oddly enough, with a a dj though, there was no countdown to the new year. We actually ended up starting our own countdown with some others at the bar. Still, overall, a very enjoyable evening.

I was excited it eat here because I had heard such great things. I ordered the quinoa salad since I love quinoa but this salad was not good it was too sweet, it then took about 25 min before another staff member to notice I wasn't eating my food & asked me if anything was wrong. I tried looking for my server but she was no where to be found so I told them that I wanted the veggie burger instead which when I got it, it was completely burned to a crisp! I didn't enjoy eating my meal after my boyfriend had finished his & just waiting for me to finish eating. I'm never going back!

I was in with a client for a birthday celebration. The front of the house greeter was extremely rude (I think it was the manager). We were very close to walking out the front door and skipping our reservation. Too many excellent eateries in San Diego to have to put up with bad manners. Although the food and decor are very nice, I'll think twice before I spend $100+ on an establishment that doesn't respect their customers....
