This is a very good restaurant - both elegant and unpretentious. A neighborhood feel with delicious food, a nice wine list, attentive, efficient and friendly service and a wonderful owner who watches over his house and makes everyone feel welcome. They accommodated our large party, including a number of out-of-town guests, at the last minute and never missed a beat. Our friends could not stop saying how much they enjoyed the meal, as did we. The staff is professional and obviously well-trained. It is always a pleasure to eat here.

D'Angelo's was once again great for a cold winter night in the city. Three of us dined upstairs in the side room. Our waitress was kind, very attentive and accomodating. Old world hospitality lives at D'Angelo's. The food was outstanding as usual. We had Caesar salads, the Fettucine Alfredo and Tony's Special Fettucine. My only complaint was that they got quite busy at around 8 pm and forgot to give us our check. Other than that, primo Italiano! Bravo!

I had not been to D'Angleo's for a number of years. Although the space has not changed, the food was not nearly as plentiful or as high a quality as my memory served. The upstairs dining room only had a couple other tables occupied. Unfortunately it did not result in faster service. On the night of my visit, the food was quite ordinary. Good Italian, but nothing special. My veal dish was also on the small portion size. Considering the competition in the Italian food genre, there are a number of places I'd choose for better food at better values.

I had not been to this restaurant in at least 15 years. Now I know why. We went since a friend was running in the marathon and wanted pasta. I've never felt so ignored in a restaurant. The wait staff were like the staff at a funeral parlor. Considering all of the choices we had for Italian in Philadelphia, this should not have been one of them.

My first time @ D'Angelo's for a 60th B'Day soiree. Love love loved it! FWe had an early dinner upstairs. Sandy the hostess was so pleasant and accommodating & as soon as we walked thru the door we felt like family. What a treat! I always test the gnocchi since I grew up in an Italian family & it's basically the gold-standard for me. Soft & pillowy & the marinara was delicious! Passed the test! Generous portion too. My husband had lasagna & another treat - the lasagna pasta had substance - home made of course & just added to the various cheese(s) and tasty veal. Afterwards we went downstairs to a private party that was jumping. Live music & lots of fun for a Tues night in-town and I would have never thought things would be so busy.

We were greeted politely and warmly and seated as requested. Service was excellent! However, the food did not live up to our expectations. I would expect a Ceasar salad to be great at an Italian restaurant, instead with the exception of an anchovy option, it was very bland and ordinary. The dreswing might have well been heavy cream, it was tasteless and the lettuce was barely sprinkled with grated parmesan rather than having fresh shredded cheese. The non-pasta entrees were overpriced for what they were. My stuffed calamari was good but nothing to rave about. The accompanying vegetables were bland and overcooked. Besides the service, the best thing there was live music!

D'Angelo's was a great place to take our out-of-town guests and children (ages 5 and 2). We had an early reservation, so the restaurant was very quiet while we ate there. It was just ok, nothing super spectacular. Service was fine, staff was friendly. The meatballs were overrated, and the salad's were drenched in dressing but the pasta was cooked well and the sauce was fresh. One downside, they has only iceberg lettuce. I give the service a BIG 0. After waiting an hour to be seated (and we did have a reservation), we then had to wait another 20 minutes for our bread and drinks. We had 3 different waiters. One who took our drink order, an other who took our food order and another who served us, so at the end of our meal we had no idea who to tip. Never once did they come back and ask us we needed a refill on our drinks and the food was just OK. Would go back and wouldn't recommend this place to others after our horrible experience.
