I had made an Open Table reservation. My party checked in with the Hostess at the appointed time. The Hostess was told that we had a reservation, but saw fit to cancel the Open Table reservation and report us as a "no show". Upon receiving an email from Open Table notifying me of the cancellation I call the restaurant manage rand spent 30 minutes on the phone holding and holding before getting this straightened out.

This restaurant was definitely a very nice experience. The service was excellent - from the hostess to our wonderful waitresses. I really felt like they were catering to us. The restaurant is beautiful and romantically lit. We had the seafood buffet dinner on Friday evening - the cold shrimp and crab were wonderful, as well as the smoked salmon. There may not have been a very extensive choice of entrees, but what they had was very nice. Would definitely recommend for a romantic evening out, or for a special occasion.

  • My wife and I love the Friday

My wife and I love the Friday and Saturday evening buffet. We live in North County and whenever my wife flies into San Diego either of those late afternoons or early evenings, I pick her up and we make reservations at Lael's via OpenTable.com for dinner. It's fun and the food is wonderful.

    Dined on 7/4/2008
We requested that we have a quiet romantic table to celebrate our 1 yr. wedding anniversary, and they set us in kid central... screaming children on all sides... saw server for the 1st time over 20 minutes into our meal. The water guy told us that it was okay to get up and get our food at that point (seafood buffet). The food was FABULOUS. We requested some drawn butter once the server did show up and she brought it out 30 minutes later (claimed that they burned the 1st batch, but what we received was cold). We went up to the front (host desk) to pay the bill because we were tired of waiting and saw the manager there. He comp-ed the meal for us after we told him that the service was terrible... All in all A+ food F for service

We attended the seafood buffet and in general, we are locals and usually avoid hotel dining. Lael's is a notable exception--we will be back. We wish we would have signed up for the restaurant open-table plan before we went to dinner. I have since, signed up.

We had a wonderful dining experience. Our server who's name is Chris N. was exceptional. He made of all us (party of 4) feel comfortable and welcomed. We've dined at Lael's many times and have always enjoyed the buffet dinners and the service is great and the food is excellent. Thanks.

When your on vacation and have a reservation the last thing you expect is a restaurant to be closed with no notice on a Saturday night... Lael's is in a hotel and no one could tell us what was going on. At first we thought we were early and just waited around for someone to show up.
