A word from Ping Pong Dim Sum - 7th Street
Serving up irresistible Dim Sum, innovative cocktails, and luxurious Chinese teas, Ping Pong Chinatown is a vibrant location to enjoy Dim Sum with a twist. The cosmopolitan restaurant boasts a dim sum bar, sunken dining room great for large groups, and a buzzing cocktail bar with award-winning libations.

Offering a wide range of Asian treats, the sleek Ping Pong restaurants pay homage to the ancient traditions of Chinese tea houses. With a big choice of dumplings and steamed buns, the Ping Pong menu also offers an array of "big-small plates", all Chinese tapas style.

As well, there are plenty of familiar Chinese delicacies, with spring rolls, soup dumplings, and hearty dishes like our hoi sin duck bao sliders. For dessert, try Ping Pong’s roasted banana and chocolate spring roll or the ice cream filled rice pastry, mochi, and finish with a lively Ping Pong cocktail or soothing Oriental tea.

I grew up eating dim sum im Hawaii and California, and was pleasantly surprised to fing an upscale gourmet twist on this childhood favorite. The selection of teas was another wonderful offering of exotic and clean flavors. I would LOVE to see something like this in Madison Wi or St Paul Mn!!

Avid dim sum connoisseur expected soooo much more. Very limited "dim sum" menu. Ate withasian girlfriend & we both know our way around dim sum. For it to advertise itself as a dimsum restaurant was deceiving. It was more of a new age fusion restaurant. Did not even have Asian cooks

Good dim sum, slightly off beat from more traditional dim sum locations in that they offer some variants like hoi sin duck 'sliders' on steamed buns. Overall, good place as the ambience is more trendy than your regular large Chinese restaurant style dim sum place. You lose some authenticity and food quality compared to places you might get in Silver Spring or Wheaton, but still a good choice. Would definitely go again. They do overcook their bok choy, so may want to stick to the more dumpling type dishes - fried or steamed than fresh vegetables.

I've been here before and I love the place. However, it turned out not to be such a hit for my son's post graduation celebration. This place is not for friends or family that value volume of food over quality. Also, the vegetarians in the group were disappointed--not because there were inadequate vegetarian options, but they claimed that their food was mediocre at best. Even so, it's a great spot and I will definitely return again!

While most of the dim sum was quite tasty I had to send back the coconut milk/lemongrass soup for being way too salty. I would not have expected such an amateur mistake for such a supposed gourmet establishment.

Adore this place. It's perfect for a group of friends to go order a bunch of food and split. Their cocktails are delicious, creative, and beautiful (I recommend the Ping Pong)! They also have an awesome rewards program. It's a place I plan on going to again and again! The food is to die for. I kept ordering more, even though I wasn't hungry because the food is just that good!

We had high hopes for Ping Pong Dim Sum, and we were not disappointed, but we were not blown away either. We had several outstanding dishes, but a number were just so-so. The best part of the restaurant was the decor. It is a beautifully appointed space, and we had a great time at the round tables that were conducive to conversation among our group (and translation for the Chinese members of our contingent). But I don't think I would eat here again. The quality of the dishes was too uneven and the service was abominably slow.

This place was a nice and easy walk from the Gallery Place Metro Station, passing by the fun sites of DC's Chinatown. If you are hungry and its lunchtime, get one of their set menus. It will fill you up and keep you satisfied. Remember, it is okay to order only a few dishes and order more later. I definitely think the food should be savored. Recommended for lunch, though I have yet to try their brunch.

We had a great dinner and thankfully the tasty food appealed to the two non-adventurous eaters in our family. Four of us had been to this location or the Dupont Circle location before, but two had not. The prix fixe menu was easy for us to suggest to the two who don't normallly choose Asian fare. Terrific service helped. Everything was smooth and all six agreeed that we would definitely come back.

We dined as a party of 6 on Friday night 05/09 and had a truly unexpected-VIP experience. We noted in Opentable we were celebrating my girlfriend's graduation and they really made it a point to make her feel special. The table was preset with a little bubbly toast, and a card, signed by the staff congratulating her on her graduation. As for the meal, the Shanghai Pimm's Cup cocktail was sweet, spicy and refreshing with ginger beer and perfect for the warm weather. As for the dim sum, we actually gravitated mostly to their signature dishes, which were all delicious: duck bao sliders, crab and edamame cakes, vegetable wontons in a spicy peanut sauce, crispy beef were all standouts. We will be returning!

This was my second time here, and I will continue to go back. The food is very good, if not a little expensive for the small portions (meant to be shared). We ordered the honey chicken puffs - delicious, the vegetable spring rolls - very good and fit for vegetarians, the shrimp and crab dumplings - decent, and the spicy chicken dumplings - also decent. The latter 2 were very doughy and there wasn't much meat. All come out in 3. Our server was good. He wasn't super attentive to our needs for such a slow night, but everyone else was helpful. My friend got the mojito to drink and it was very weak and not very mojito-based, but it was still good.

This is a great place to stop and dine however for big parties you will pay up to 30.00 per person! This is crazy because the prix fix menu offers great food for 25.00 per person. The portions are small...and disappointing to a group of people. We went there with 11 people in our party and ended up paying 315.00 + tip. That was ridiculous. I figured that since it was a dim sum place that people would come around and everyone would pick what they liked. It was served like sushi...disappointing. Mostly I felt that we were misled to purchase so much thereby creating a filling meal but it was not a great experience. They did provide us with fillers like wonton chips but it was just not great.

This is our 3rd time visiting ping pong & We requested that the food be spread out over a period of time as we were in no rush. The food began coming out too quickly, within 10 minutes we had 7 items on our table, and as soon as we were finishing one, we were receiving the next. We asked the runner if things could be slowed down & were told it could not, that all of the food had been put in and that they just keep firing. She gave us a few tops for our food to keep it warm and our server came by and took them off. He seemed annoyed. They kept bringing the food quickly and within 30 minutes we received all 14 items.

This is a restaurant for twenty-somethings to go & have dinner over several hours. The staff had no idea how to handle a toddler or tardiness. They waited nearly 30 minutes after arrival & until the toddler was screaming on the floor to bring her a bowl of rice that we had to have 'special permission' to get. The staff should have stopped us at the door & explained they were unwilling to accommodate a toddler. Our friends were 30 minutes late & they held up our food without warning mid meal until our table mates reviewed the menu, ordered, & then 'caught up' to us. It was a miserable & stressful experience. It was also very dark & the menu was in such small writing I had to have it read to me. I don't wear glasses. The restrooms more so.

The restaurant has a nice appearance and ambience. That is all I can say on the plus side. Food was overall very strange, and one dish was almost inedible. I told the server that, and I believe we should have been offered a refund or at least a chance to choose something else. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I checked out the restaurant online before I went and found it to be as I expected. The interior was sleek although the seats were more arty than functional (square-like boxes I would not with no back support). Although different I would probably not want to be seated for more than an hour. There were many choices that looked interesting although they didn't have one of the things we tried to order and we had to come up with a plan b for that one. I would suggest they update their checklist and cross out unavailable desserts like they did with the mochi ice cream. My friend got tea and she was very satisfied with it which is good since she can be picky about selection and taste. The server was pleasant and helpful. Food was enjoyable.

This restaurant is too fancy to really fit into a "Chinatown." If you want good Chinese food that is reasonably priced, this is not the place. I overlooked the poor reviews of this restaurant since there were so many raves, but I should have paid attention to the rants. I also was suspicious when I noticed there were no Asian families or couples having dim sum on a Sunday morning. Although the food we had was well prepared, the portions were small and the prices high. The fried tofu with vegetables was beautifully presented, but the only vegetables in it were bell peppers. The service was poor. I had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled. There was no free pot of tea as is the norm, but only tea you could order from the menu, again at a high price.

    Dined on 3/15/2014
This restaurant has everything right except for the price and the service. The dim sum is definitely adapted for the American palette and although some of the dishes are tasty, they are not good enough to justify the extreme prices. If you are willing to dish out the money, the location is convenient for Chinatown, but not worth a drive across town. Service was very lacking too. It was not busy when we went (about %25 full) and the waitress was distracted and never around. And when she was was a little impatient. Just not what we expected when we walked in. Not on our list for a return visit.

Everything that brushed my lips was a delight. I have eaten so many wanton soups. Ping Pong's is unique and delicious with many more ingredients than I am used to at other venues. The crispy chicken entrée was so moist and delicious with the dipping sauce. Duck spring rolls were filled with scrumptious real duck meat. What a delight - I will be back again!
