A word from Nino's Tuscany
Nino's Tuscany Steakhouse provides a cozy, welcoming haven and unfussy, well-executed cooking from its namesake central Italian region. Pastel-hued murals of the idyllic Tuscan countryside, brickwork, and softly-lit elongated sconces set a pleasant mood that's enlivened in the evenings by the sprightly piano playing of irrepressible nonagenarian, Irving Fields.

Four of us dined here the other night for a special occasion. The restaurant is attractive and comfortable. It is quiet allowing for easy conversation. Piano player was a nice addition and unobtrusive. Food was delicious with lots of choices. Excellent bruschetta and ricotta cheese cake. All of the plates looked appetizing with great care given to appearence. Two of us had pre-paid dining coupons and the restaurant graciously offered to extend the same deal to the other two. All in all a very enjoyable experience. We shall return and recommend to others.

It was just ok, nothing special and surely not worth going when you are only visiting NYC. You can tell at one point it used to be a vibrant restaurant, now it just looks rundown, tired with Italian food of the 80-ies

We got a Living Social deal to go to this restaurant. The food was delicious and amazing, but they gave us separate menu from the rest of the restaurant because we weren't paying for the same things. They also took our dishes away super fast. It was as if they were saying "Thanks for coming, but you really don't belong here."

In the beginning of our dinner we felt a bit rushed since our waiter wanted us to order immediately. However, as the night progressed we found the food to be delicious and the restaurant to have the perfect ambiance. We started off by order a bottle of Malbec which complemented our appetizers of shrimp in white wine sauce with fava beans and traditional calamari. Then we ordered grilled steak and a branzino dish. The steak was juicy and cooked to perfection. The bronzino practically melted in your mouth. Dessert was cappuccinos with terra cotta cheese cake and tiramisu. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming and we loved the pianist who walked around and took song requests. Would definitely go back!

Very middle of the road. We had a living social dining voucher for a 3 course meal for 2 for $70 and would probably not repeat it. The veal is covered in fontina cheese that was so strong and intense in its smell it was impossible to eat. Had to send it back. The appetizers were good as were the desserts, but nothing mind blowing. The wine and coffee were a nice touch to the meal though. The elderly pianist arrived around 7:30, when we were about to leave, so sadly we weren't able to hear his legendary skills. Also, when the bill arrived we were surprised to see that the suggested service fee was $40 for a one hour dinner for 2. We felt awful but couldn't tip that much.

  • Best service I've ever had!

Incredible! We have never had better service at any restaurant we've been to! I was so impressed with how attentive the server and host were. They had a man come in around 7pm to play the piano, it was perfect background music- not too loud- and he played classics like Luck Be A Lady. The food was amazing, as was the wine. The vegetable soup (I don't remember the Italian name for it) is a must have! I had the spinach ravioli, and the sauce was phenomenal! I can't say enough good things about this place. We went on a Friday night, and it was not overcrowded; the seating is not smushed together. Just be careful when trying to find it, because the entrance is not very large, but the inside is absolutely beautiful!

Went here with my boyfriend in the early evening. The food was very good (only ordered entree & dessert), I had the salmon and my bf had the veal. They have these hand made mini bread sticks in the bread basket that are amazing. The service was excellent, never had to wait for a waiter to attend to you for anything, they anticipated mostly anything you would need. They don't rush you out of the restaurant, however, they do take a little long to bring you your check. I would come back.

The quality of the food, and service, were good. However, in my opinion, the prices were way out of line, even for that area. $142 (before tip) is too much for a meal that we could have gotten in most other restaurants in that area for around $75. If you do go, be careful of the specials. They do not publish the prices. It is only after you get the check that you realize that you have been way overcharged. $4 for a cup of coffee is a lot also; not to mention $13 for a small side dish of roasted asparagus. They have a fixed price, very limited, menu for $35 a person also.

Don't waste your money on this over-priced a la carte restaurant. Food is over salted, portions small and the menu is very limited. Was better when it used to be Nino's Tuscany italian restaurant. Since they have revamped themselves as a steak house, the food is lacking in quality and quite a disappointment. For steak, stick to Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Ben Benson, Peter Lugers. You will go home starving with the small italian portions they serve- 3 small meatballs, give me a break! While the tables are lined with pretty linen and colored dishes, they wisk them away once the bread is served and you eat on plain cheap white dishes. A switch and bait tactic. Salmon was very salty (obviously frozen) and penne a la vodka was tasteless.

Waitstaff seemed to be less than satisfied with our group. It was really uncomfortable. I do not want to make it a race thing but, it felt as if waiting on my table was a chore. The whole situation felt forced and unwelcoming. It was a nice restaurant and it had live music. Great date spot if you aren't "not white" and don't mind being treated like a stereotype.

We went to Nino's for the first time during restaurant week and had a delicious dinner with very attentive waiters. We had tried several other restaurants during this week and were disappointed by very limited menus, but at Nino's we found had many really good choices on the menu. The atmosphere is cozy and there was nice piano music during the evening. We never felt rushed, even though we lingered over dinner. Overall, we had a lvoely experience.
