A word from Nino's Tuscany
Nino's Tuscany Steakhouse provides a cozy, welcoming haven and unfussy, well-executed cooking from its namesake central Italian region. Pastel-hued murals of the idyllic Tuscan countryside, brickwork, and softly-lit elongated sconces set a pleasant mood that's enlivened in the evenings by the sprightly piano playing of irrepressible nonagenarian, Irving Fields.

I've been to other Nino's on the east side; and so, we decided to try the Tuscan-style location on the west side. All the food that we ordered were fresh and delicious. Calamari were particularly good appertizers. Ossobucco was cooked to perfection; the meat just melted off the bone and in your mouth. Cheese cake was light but wonderful. Chicken breast was great too. Highly recommend.

The restaurant was really nice, just slightly outdated. My boyfriend's NY strip steak was really big and cooked perfectly. I had the veal, it was okay. The mashed potatoes were odd but the sauce was delicious.

I went for Valentines and thought Ninos was a good deal. The live pianist sets the scene for any romantic dinner which can be followed up by a tour of Central Park. Downside was that the food itself was only ok. Service quite good and classically Italian.

We were seated without menu or wine list; had to request twice. Wine list is outrageously overpriced and has very ordinary offerings. Quality of food was substandard. For an unhappy evening we paid more than for superb evening of food and wine at Marea.

I walked by a line at Sarabeth's with a 45 minute wait time b/c I wanted to dine near the Park. Nino's Tuscany isn't easy to spot b/c it's up a few steps. But it's on 58th, just one block from the Park. It's some of the best past I've ever had.

  • Perfectly marbled ribeye!

    Dined on 2/6/2014
Ribeyes are tough to predict. The last one I had elsewhere ended up being full of chunks of fat. Nino's Tuscany had it just right with a nice marbling of fat throughout a cut that was mostly tender meat. I don't know if they just take more care when they are purchasing or have a better relationship with their purveyor or if it's just luck. Either way, I will remember this ribeye for awhile.

Basically, I was in a food coma when I left this place. I devoured pasta and a juicy steak. I really like how the dining room is in sections as opposed to just one large room. This feels like an old school new york italian place. Loved it!

I met up with a large group and we devoured a lot of steak & lobster. I usually find steakhouses to be dominated by noisy groups of business men big-shots. The steak here was as good as any steakhouse I've been to here. But I found Nino's Tuscany to be a more relaxing experience.

The service was fine the food was ok some dishes were better than others. Due to the location I would not avoid this place in any way, but being in NYC and paying what we paid I would much rather explore other options. NYC has so many places to eat and to be just ok does not cut it. This in no way means avoid this place but.......I would look for better

Seated immediately, waited 35" to order drinks/appetizer no menus ,despite several reminders. waiter said they had run out of menus! We said we'd share, and some menus appeared. Still no drinks, then waiter returns with regrets that beer type is unavailable, and do we all want ice in our drinks?! Eventually, drinks and an antipasto (no crositini, per menu) appeared. I guess we didn't order wine soon enough, because they came and removed all the glasses. Food was very good, altho out of scallopine after we ordered it. Maitre D' roaming around, no contact with diners. I did speak to him as we left and he was gracious. Nice waitstaff, but odd service. PS OT link to Ninos brings me to another establishment, on 1st Ave!!

I have been to Nino's Tuscany twice with a large group, with children (3 and 6), and both times we had a really great time. The food and atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone there went out of his or her way to accomodate us. The bill does seem to add up quick, but this area of NYC isn't exactly for bargain shoppers either. Irving Fields, Nino's piano player, was amazing and even came to our table to wish us a Merry Christmas and take requests. I would recommend Nino's to anyone, and caution only on the price.

We had dinner with a group of friends after successfully completing the NYC Marathon and we couldn't have picked a better place. It's not your typical New York "trendy spot" but it's a local's favorite and you can never go wrong with that. The food was amazing and substantial portions, a pretty nice wine list, and the service was wonderful with friendly staff. It was my second time there and I would recommend it to everyone.

Had dinner here before theater at City Center. Food was OK. Had a delicious pasta with a ragu. So-so riboletto; was hoping it would bring me back to Tuscany, but no luck. Asked several times if they could turn the heat down in the restaurant. It was uncomfortable, felt like I was sweating into my food. Won't be going back.

We return frequently for a few reasons. First, love the table side Caesar Salad. Very hard to find. Second, food is very good. Third, if we are going to Carnegie Hall, it is very convenient, and not terribly crowded and noisy. Finally, there is Irving Field, the 97 year young piano player. Only downside is it is a bit overpriced, but we always enjoy dinner there.

My boyfriend and I went to Nino's during restaurant week. I was excited by the classic Italian options and variety on the pre-fix menu and the proximity to work in Midtown West. I was immediately took back from the beginning when I had to ask the waitor for our menus after sitting at our table for several minutes. Although the wait staff was attentive, they did not listen when we asked for our wine to be brought with the meal, and brought it before the appetizers. I ordered the calamari, lamb shank, and tiramsu. The calamari was so chewy and the breading was very dry and flavorless. My boyfriend's veal was so tough and poorly executed. With prices so high, I don't know how they stay in business in a Midtown West location.

We go to Nino's Tuscany to hear the piano playing of Irving Fields. He just celebrated his 98th birthday and still hits the keys like a 20 year old!! Food is fine (nothing that will wow you if you're a New Yorker). Server rarely comes around to ask if you need anything else (We had to pour waters from glass to glass). But you will love Irving and his music!

The staff was very attentive and polite. The restaurant crowd was full of older people so it felt a bit weird for us. Over 95% of the customers appeared to be over 65. Dining at Nino's felt like you were sitting amongst Michael Corleone and Sonny Lospechio. A beautiful dimly lit restaurant with a pianist playing your favorite oldies really adds to the authentic italian experience. The antipasto was quite delicious paired with a nice red sangiovese from there endless wine list. The staff was not the most friendly and became agitated by any request your party had. Overall a nice meal with good company but the staff could smile a bit more and learn the importance that the customer is always right.
