Setting is beautiful, especially on a cold Vermont winter night. Service was friendly and attentive but rather slow - 2.5 hours for 3 courses. Food was certainly good but too spotty to justify the prices, which are high. Lobster bisque was thin and came to the table barely tepid. Chorizo broth for mussel dish was also lukewarm, salty but not spicy, and overwhelmed the flavor of the seafood. Mussels themselves were a bit dried out. Pheasant was slightly overcooked/dried out. Salmon was perfectly cooked, salads were delicious, goat cheese was outstanding, beef was perfectly cooked but not marbled and consequently a bit tough. Chocolate dessert quite good. Wine list extensive with many fairly priced bottles. Pricey but enjoyable.

Though it was dark when we dined, I'm sure that the view of the river makes this place a must-do. The food was outstanding, as was the wine we had. Overall, a bit pricey, but worth it for that special occasion.

I had requested that the restaurant save me some of the cheese soup that they only serve for lunch - for me to have at dinner. They did!! YEA!! Simon Pierce has the best cheese soup in the world.... plus, I had asked for a window seat, and we were given the best corner table in the restaurant, hanging out over the waterfalls. WONDERFUL MEAL AND SERVICE!

We have been to the simon pearce restaurant for lunch a few times and recently went for dinner. While there lunch is very good, dinner was amazing and exceeded expectations. Coming from Boston we are used to restaurants with a theme or gimmick, however this place is just clean and classic. There menu is small and varying and absolutely everthing that we had was cooked to absolute perfection. The view over the river is great, and if there is a wait you can even go watch glass blowing to entertain you until dinner.

I was pleased with the quality of food and service. I was dissappointed in seating arrangement, since I booked a reservation a month in advance and was placed in a high traffic noisy area of the dining room. I asked to be moved and was told, I would have to wait for an additional 45 mintes. I insisted before I was moved to a more acceptable table that was available.

The food was excellent - cooked perfectly. Sea scallops were moist and not chewy, cooked exactly as they should be. Both meals were hot and timed perfectly. The service was gracious but not stuff. Very comfortable and romantic atmostphere. The portions sizes were just right as well. The desserts were fantastic.

Located in a refurbished mill on an old dam on the Outtaquechee River in Quechee, Vermont, this restaurant is a terrific place to enjoy the small town Vermont ambiance with great food and a decent wine list. Simon Pearce, an Irish artesan has a small, classy, handmade glass and pottery business with a showroom at the restaurant location. The restaurant uses Simon Pearce flatware, glass, and dishes to serve up its high quality delicious fare. The place is a bit pricey (we spent more than $200 for dinner for two sharing an appetizer, a salad and dessert with our own entrees, a bottle of wine, and an after dinner drink), but with quietly understated but attentive service and food that does not disappoint, Simon Pearce is worth it.

Having dined at this lovely restaurant many times over the years, we were looking forward to our reservation at Simon Pearse. We are so disappointed in the food! The special soup, potato leek, was terrible. The prices are not cheap and the filet ($42) should have been a reliable choice. The small steak was very bland, the mashed potatoes had been sitting around too long, although it was still early evening, and the greens were cold. We decided to order the apple cobbler since we were in Vermont after all. A small tart sized dish arrived with the cobbler and a scoop of ice cream. A very meager attempt had been made to heat it. A couple of the apples were "warm", but most were as cold as the ice cream.

The food and ambiance were excellent. We were sat by the window and even though it was dark you could still see the falls below. Two comments. The room temperature kept varying dramatically from cold and drafty to a little too warm. It was significant enough that I had to keep taking my coat off and putting it back on. Lastly, the food was delicious, but our entree may have sat at the window a bit too long. Warm, but not hot.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005
    Dined on 10/9/2008
The cod entree was superb but the chicken entree was mediocre, certainly not up to par with chicken dishes in the past. Also, the divers scallop appetizer was $13. and consisted of two scallops! A serving of 3 would have been more appreciated. As always, the setting and ambiance were great. However, two diners who did not have waterview seats came over and boldy placed themselves btween our table and the next- a rather tight fit. Additionally, the female diner attempted to open the glass doors and step out into the great unknown!! Perhaps, one of the staff could have informed her that she was definitely out of line. In spite of the above, the next time we are in Vermont, we plan on dining at Simon Pearce.

A real gem. Fresh, delicious, elegant simple food. The fish dishes were amazing, very inventive and successful seasonings and pairings (mahi mahi special with mashed sweet potatoes, sauteed chard a little maple syrup and a spice coating). Beautiful table settings of Simon Pearce designs and great setting over the river. Kid friendly as we dined with our 11 month old.

We had a wonderful view of the water falling over the dam from our window seat, very romantic. The food and wine were excellant. We both had the pork tenderlion special which may have been the best pork we have ever eaten. My husband did not care for the mushroom appetizer we split;the description did not mention it had goat cheese which he does not care for. The chocolate desert was amazing. Simon Pearce is among my favorite restaurants in the Upper Valley area. Our most recent experience was outstanding. Despite being stuck in traffic and forced to arrive an hour and a half late, the staff was extremely courteous and accomodating, even setting us up on a table overlooking the waterfall. We were the last people there, but felt no pressure to leave. The meal itself was fantastic: I had the mussels with chorizo and aioli, the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes, and the white chocolate mousse. We split a nice bottle of pinot noir from Alsace, which was light and smooth with hints of blackberry. Overall, the dining experience allowed us to forget about our terrible trip to the restaurant, and we left stuffed and happy.
