This place has imaginative and delicious food, impeccable service, and a beautiful location in a restored mill building on the river next to scenic falls. (The glass-blowing shop at the same location uses the power from the dam for hydropower.) The restaurant uses the elegant Simon Pearce glassware and ceramics in its table service. There is also a Simon Pearce retail shop on the premises, with very expensive but gorgeous products.

The menu was very limited and expensive. I didn't like anything on the menu (this is rare. I dine out often.) Ended up settling and didn't like the food. Paid a lot of money for something I only picked at. My husband was not thrilled with his dinner either. The other couple we were with both enjoyed their dinners. We ate at Simon Pearce last summer (camp visiting weekend) and absolutely enjoyed the experience. This year was a great disappointment. Next year we will try a new restaurant.

Five of the people in our group experienced illness from food poisoning during the night after our dinner. All had eaten the wild mushroom appetizer. Our group has looked forward to an evening at Simon Pearce as this is an annual event for us. The food was not as good as before. The usually wonderful seasonal green salad with warm goat cheese was not good, the goat cheese was hard a cold also did not have the sweet walnuts as usual. The service was slow, but nice. We were very disappointed the next morning to learn of the illness of so many of our group.

I am a creature of habit and usually order the same favorite when I return to a restaurant. So much is tempting, that I usually pick something new when I come back. I have not been disappointed yet. It is worth the two hour (one way) trip from home to go here. The portions are perfect--large enough but not too big. My one complaint is the dessert menu--nothing pure chocolate. I want nothing (fruits or nuts) to get in the way of my enjoyment. White chocolate doesn't cut it for me. Dinner prices (as opposed to lunch) are a bit high for my comfort level. I prefer lunch here.

We asked for a window table when we reserved, and we were seated at a window table over the falls. We have been going to Simon Pearce Restaurant since 1992, and have always enjoyed it. Usually, we have lunch, but this time we had dinner. While it was very good, it wasn't the best. The service was outstanding, and the hostess was one of the most personable young ladies we've encountered anywhere. It's always a treat to eat there.

We had a wonderful experience with a great waitress and fantastic service. We asked for, and received, spot-on advice on a wine. The view of the waterfall during dinner was great. Vermont's law allowing for "left-over" wine to be recorked and taken home makes sense, and we took advantage of it. Go early enough to take a look through the retail and the manufacturing side of the glass-making business and take a look at the power-generation gear in the lower-level.
