We sat on the outside patio and were able to watch a band but that was the only nice part of the evening. After an hour and ten minutes without our food and inquiring with the waitor several times my husband had to go inside and find a manager. The manager did not charge us for our drinks and salad which we did appreciate and he did say that our long wait was not acceptable. The service was by far the worst service we have had at a restaurant in a long time!

We requested a quiet table as we were having a business meeting. They told us they would seat us in a quiet area. In spite of the fact that there were many booths that would have been perfect, they seated us at a table near others. Sure enough, they seated a party of 8 men right next to our table - I could not believe it! The men were very loud and we had to move to a different table to be able to talk. The staff clearly paid no attention to our request for a quiet spot and were generally unconcerned about our plight. Food was OK, service was OK. Probably will not return.

Service & ambiance was excellent, as was the wine list BUT the food was substandard & outdated, as I expected from seeing the website. Oysters on the Half Shell from only one place. A Spinach Salad that looked like it came from the Banquet Service fridge: dull (as opposed to glistening ) greens, deviled egg halves turned gray, limp roasted red peppers, congealed caramelized onions, gelatinous dressing, not pourable. Crab cake - over salted, not made from white lump, on a sort of corn & pimento hash, but it was better than the crab and underneath, when it might have added color & interest to the plate. Speaking of lackluster plates, the delicious tenderloin was served Straight Up: Just a big hunk centered on the plate. Bizarre!

The food at Larkin's is absolutely top notch. I had the smoked salmon with a creamy mushroom sauce on risotto and it was heaven. The only problem with our experience was that we booked our reservation through Open Table and there was a 4:45 time slot offering. We took that slot because we were attending a Peace Center event that evening. When we showed up at the restaurant, we were told we could not be seated until around 5:00. They would not even sit us at the bar or at a table to wait. We were told to go walk around until the wait staff finished their before dinner brief. Once we were seated, service was slow to pick up but then was spectacular. Not recommended for early dining.

Larkin's is our favorite Greenville restaurant, so we chose if for our anniversary. It was on a Wednesday, with a table outside and a blues band on the TD stage next door, so a fun atmosphere. But unfortunately, service was not up to the normal level of excellence. Maybe too many tables for servers due to walk-ins from the crowd next door? I tell everyone this is truly a great restaurant, so I'm cutting them slack- we will be back without hesitation.

Food was fantastic! The setting was wonderful, as was the service until our food arrived. Our server seemed to disappear. It was slow at best to get refills on beverages, or to correct a minor problem. I have never waited so long to have food boxed or to pay for a meal! We would come again, as the meal was wonderful, but it will not be our first choice.

I felt very sorry for our waiter as he was overwhelmed. food and beverage took way long. just the drink orders took 15 minutes and the ice tea was bitter strong and NOT sweet!!!was a grad brunch for family I never see and this was the pits. this rest has always been a fav but clearly not the case for us. very stressful as our requests were not honored. I picked the place and I was very embarrassed.

Had a family gathering with our children. The table setting on the porch was wonderful overlooking the river area. The food was good, but a bit overpriced for comparable food in the Greenville area. The wait for our entree was much too long with no explanation. Luckily we were having a good time visiting. The reception group was nice, but the wait staff was rather snobby. My family all had the same opinion(s).

Friends seeing Phantom of the Opera on a previous night recommended Larkin's on the River as convenient and accommodating for the show. What they failed to mention was the charming and attentive service that would be given to us by our waiter, Bill. They also failed to regale us with how delectable the food would be. The filet mignon was actually aged to perfection and so tender. It was also by far the best salmon and lobster I have ever eaten, and I lived more than a decade on the coast. The also confirmed our reservation, even opening early for the theater crowd. I will most definitely make Larkin's my theater dining restaurant and a Greenville must.

Thank you! When i inquired if a special welcome could be arranged for our business colleagues from Italy for their first visit to Larkin's (for one, first time in Greenville) staff greeted us warmly and a personally penned 'welcome' card waited at the table upon our arrival. The special finish to top off our steak and lamb dinners was the incredibly deliciously perfect creme brulee with fresh berries, written on the plate in chocolate 'Enjoy your stay!' An inspired completion to the evening. Liz and the rest of the staff took great care of us ! Larkin's is always in our top two dining choices to entertain out of town guests. OpenTable reservations so easy! Knew Larkin's would be perfect choice for the perfect American steak dinner.

Food was excellent and server was personable and friendly. Not sure if there was an issue in the kitchen, but the timeliness of getting the food out was a little slow. I had allowed 1.5 hours for dinner before a play at the Peace Center and we barely made the curtain. And I did tell the server when we ordered that we were going to the play.

Our server, Becky, was great. Great recommendations from the menu. Attentive but not too overbearing. Friendly but not too familiar. Just an overall great dining experience. My lovely wife had the grouper and it was great. I started off with the she crab soup, great. The soft shell crab was the special, so I had that instead of the shrimp and grits. Very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in Greenvile.

As our first venture into Larkin's dining, I took my wife to Larkin's on the River for her birthday (2/26). Sadly, I failed to review Larkin's at the time. Our waitress, Dorothy, was *fantastic*; the food was superb; the champagne selection fit the occasion; the overall experience was delightful. I cite this experience to lend further credence to our overall perception of Larkin's. As we'd previously enjoyed such a great visit, I set a second reservation for tonight as an ending to a day-long date... and Larkin's did not disappoint! Our server, Ed, was equally as friendly and engaging as was Dorothy, and seemed genuinely pleased to meet us. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, and we left with enormous smiles! We'll definitely be back!

Following a Clemson graduation, we were running late. Construction, heavy traffic, and then Main St was closed for a Craft fair! Arrived 45 min late. Larkins staff called to check on us and guide our arrival. They were ready for us and most understanding. Our group of 15 were treated like royalty and were very professional. Fast, prompt, and complete service. Outstanding appetizers and killer steaks! Had to take half my bone in ribeye home. It was huge! And delicious! Both temperature and seasoning were spot on. It is an open and busy place so be prepared for an elevated noise level. The live band on the river stage was very entertaining and close. A bit pricey, but most enjoyable. Definitely will repeat!

If you want excellent food, service, and ambiance, then Larkin's on the River is the place to go. The salmon with risotto cake was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The steaks were tender and cooked to the exact temperature requested. The Caesar salad, prepared fresh table side could have been a meal of its own with the flavors that burst in it. Don't miss their desserts. We got the sampler and everything was delectable. An amazing and delight was that the service was outstanding! Having traveled throughout the world, I can honestly state that this is one of the best restaurants that I have eaten at in a very long time! Keep up the great work!
