The lamb was done to perfection. The halibut was overcooked and in a very strange gravy, rather than a sauce that complimented the fish. Our waitperson was very nice. Could have been more attentive. Welcome into the restaurant and upon leaving was excellent.

This is a gem of a resturant. Chef Jeff Taylor produces flavors with his meals not to be found anywhere else in the Pacific Northwest. Reasonably priced, great atmopshere, excellent service, and absolutely wonderful food. Don't miss it!

The meal was fantastic, and the service was great. The cauliflower soup was amazing! Menu selection was quite minimal and pricey. Wine and spirits were also priced very high. They were out of 3 menu items (pizza) on a Friday night. I would recommend for a special occasion.

  • We got to the restaurant right
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 2/20/2010
We got to the restaurant right on time. I asked for a private room as we had a group with a toddler. The host seated us right away, and I saw the whole setup was perfect. Our server brought us bread which we all enjoyed. We all ordered different dishes and everyone liked what they ate (and the toddler ate off of all of our plates). We were dining out to celebrate my mother's birthday and she really felt well treated. The servers were unobtrusive, but water glasses were filled regularly and our main waitress was always nearby. I would recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly.

THE FOOD WAS UNBELIEVABLE! GREG HAD THE COCONUT CRUSTED SNAPPER WHICH WAS JUST PERFECT! AND THE RICE THAT IT WAS ON..HOLY COW, MAGNIFICENT! I WANT THIS RECIPE! WE COULD TASTE GINGER AND CHILI AND COCONUT, IT WAS PRACTICALLY A DESSERT AND WAS SO MOIST, A LOVELY COMPLIMENT TO THE FLAKY, CRISPY SNAPPER!! I HAD THE CRAB LASAGNA....RICH, FLAVORFUL, DECADENT!! WITH SOME FANCY PLACES I FULLY EXPECT TO WALK AWAY HUNGRY BECAUSE SMALL PORTIONS IN AN EEGANT DISPLAY, ARE THE NORM. NOT AT WATERSTREET! I WAS STUFFED! WE SHOULDNT HVE FINISHED EVERYTHING ON OUR PLATES BUT IT WAS JUST SO DELICIOUS WE HAD TO! I AM ALSO USUALLY NOT IMPRESSED WITH MOST BARS KAMIKAZES BUT THEIRS HAD JUST ENOUGH LIME AND WAS ICY COLD!! PERFECT! I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!

I enjoyed the ambiance, but VERY disappointed with the food—it was too small for the cost. My wife ordered the filet mignon with noodles, but the noodles were rubbery and tasteless. The waitress offered her a side dish of asparagus instead of the noodles, but we ended up paying for it. We also ordered a cheese burger WELL DONE to go for our daughter, but it was medium rare and we ended up throwing it away. On top of all that the staff were very unfriendly.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

Just a few complaints that I would have mentioned to staff if I was dinning with someone besides a new date. First I got the tuna. It was nice except the plate was cold so the bottom half of my fish was cold and the top half was perfect. Still yuck. It came with potatoes which were way to salty. I was there on a first date. We were seated in a both. It was awkward because if I sat back the bench I was too far away from my date to hear what they were saying. So, I had to scoot forward to the edge of the bench or else sit back when my date was on the edge of her bench. Wine was nice and server was friendly and attentive. Cheese selection for our cheese plate was nice too.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

Terrible. I was served the wrong steak dinner. I asked for medium on the steak and it arrived practically blue and not even warm. My spouse ordered chicken and was equally dissatisfied with the overwhelmingly sauced plate, the over use of salt in all food. I had three spindly pieces of broccoli that barely passed for a vegetable. All entrees are overpriced. We requested a quiet corner, which we got, but it faced out to the entire restaurant so it felt more like we were on display at the head table. Not helped by the fact that the lamp lighting in the corner had what seemed like a halogen bulb that was so bright it was like being under the spotlight. Every time I looked at my spouse I was blinded by the glare of the light. Awful

I'll say first off, the service was excellent. The wait staff were attentive and pleasant. I only have dinner here on occasion, the prices are a little steep, but the food is delicious. It is a cozy place to have an intimate dinner for a special occasion or with friends who want to splurge and enjoy a delicious meal and drinks. I love lemon drop martinis and the one I ordered was one of the best I've ever had.

Great food and the service was outstanding - we had a business meeting with 10, the waitress was extremely prompt (she knew ahead of time of the tight schedule) got our orders in and us out in under an hour. Water Steet is the best option for a business meeting from the Capitol Campus to get back for the afternoon committee hearings. The issue that tops it off is that Water Street acutally has parking; other venues in downtown do not. Jim Hedrick

Our waitress was very attentive but the man (who I understand is the owner) was NOT helpful and even ignored me as i approached the front desk to check in. We had duck and ahi tuna which were ok but the side mash potatoes had horseradish in it and the sweet potatoes had some kind of strong and spicy pepper. They may be going for fancy tastes but some of that just wasnt quite right and the overly simple menu did not make it clear what to expect.

The food was fantastic- I had the goat cheese salad and Pasta Fazooli which was divine. Perfectly al dente pasta in a not too overpowering sauce with the spicy meatballs and beans. My husband's filet was perfectly prepared to medium rare and delicious over a bed of al dente paparadelle. His ceasar also very tasty. The rest of our family shared the beet salad and had the lamb which was also great. We shared some vanilla bean cheesecake topped with a nicely tart raspberry sauce. Great ambience, low romantic lighting. Wonderful menu and fantastic attentive service. Ask for a table away from the door in winter there is a crisp breeze that blows in when opening. I will definitely go back!

The food tasted excellent and the portion for my entree was just right, enough to fill me up but not so much that I felt I had to overeat to finish or (worse yet) take home a doggie bag.
