Green salad was not very interesting. Lamp chops with berry sauce were appealing - as were vegetables - delightful pureed sweet potatoes. Asparagus good. And chocolate torte with coffee a nice close. Outdoors was desirable for this summer evening but the patio with view to parking and lackluster decor leaves something to be desired. It was quiet - easy to carry on a conversation. Waitress was very attentive and accommodating.

The food was not very good, it's been much better in the past. The menu has the same old offerings, nothing "special". The pizza lacked flavor, and was exceptionally boring. Inconsistency has always been an issue with this restaurant, now I'm afraid it's a permanent problem.

We had our anniversary dinner here and were not disappointed. Great wines by the glass and nice selection of sparkling wines for that special occasion. The antipasti platter was very large and yummy. Hubby had the seared duck breast and I had the braised rabbit lasagna - such flavors! We saved room for dessert - goat cheese cake and cherry vanilla panacotta - our complements to the pastry chef - both unusual and extremely tasty! We will be back!

We have tried and tried to enjoy this restaurant. The food is good but the service is spotty. Our last visit we were seated quickly but waited a long time for someone to take our drink order. It wasn't that busy so we did not know why it took so long. The menu has not changed in a long time. They have specials but the main menu has not changed in a couple years. For the price it is not worth it to go back for a stale menu and spotty service.

We went to Waterstreet for the first time last Saturday night for jazz and the late happy hour menu. We had two appetizers, pizza and the advertised $20 bottle of wine. All were prepared well and very good value for the money. The retaurant is very clean, wait staff very attentive and the music very enjoyable. We will be back.

It seems my wife and I find ourselves at Water Street for her birthday, because we know we will feel welcome and the food will be good. The space is clean and the feeling for me is Tuscany. The wait staff are nearby but don't hover. We have been there about four times and have never been disappointed.

Have been here several times & have always loved the food, ambiance and service. If this visit had been my first, I probably would never return. Positives first: the antipasti appetizers was delicious as were the caeser salads. One of my companions had the beet salad recommended by our server: underwhelming. Cost more than the caeser salads 2 of us had & cost more too! Only had 3 small beets. My same friend had the cod also recommended by the server; so so at best. My other companion had a chicken dish which was okay. I had a pizza & was very disappointed. I had always wanted to try a pizza here as they looked delicious. I think they changed the recipe for the dough/crust. Not recommended. Oh yeah, they now charge $1 for the bread!

Hard to avoid in Olympia but worth trying everything else first. Business forces me there from time to time but I never look forward to it. This time was the worst. Only for the gastronomically indifferent. I eat around the world and nowhere aggravates my stomach like this hometown puzzle palace. To fair the ambiance is "noisy/good" and the service is fair. But you can get far better without losing your stomach lining within a couple blocks.

We waited for one hour and twenty minutes to be served after ordering. And, with no explanation. Most delay in my experience. It may have been my order: the Sardino Stew. Which was tasty; but limited seafood. More like an appertizer in a large bowl. My guests were delighted with their meals: the featured steak. First time this Session. In the past I was a frequent guest.jim

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. The only complaint we had was that it was too loud, which made it hard to have a conversation at our table. The waitress had to ask us to repeat our orders as well, as she couldn't hear us very well. Beside that, it was a great location with great food.

We had a family dinner and the service was great. Food was very good. The only item I was not happy with was the wasabi mashed potatoes. This came with the Tuna on top. To me the showcased item should be the Tuna, not the starch. There was too much wasabi in the potatoes, it was very strong. I felt that it caused you to not taste the fish. Two of us had that dish and agreed. Otherwise everyone loved their meals. The Goat-cheese Cheesecake was amazing.

My wife and I had been wanting to try this place out for years. Every time we walked by it we thought it looked very romantic and would wait for a special occasion to finally try it out. Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait a while to be seated. There was a man at the front desk who looked like he was in charge, and he did not even smile or greet us. The food took forever. I ordered the Osso Bucco which was tiny for the price and way over cooked. It was somewhat dry. My wife's plate was okay, like a simple Mexican dish you would get at the Mayan or something like that. The actual servers were very friendly, polite and really good about checking in on us without disturbing us. The atmosphere REALLY loud. Not worth the $$$.

We had their gourmet cheeseburger...which was just so so. The meal came with sweet potato chips of which 80% were crumbs. Wife's drink was great. What ruined our meal was being seated by the front counter and a person who I assumed was the owner was seated there periodically and he had severe BO. We couldn't finish our meal and couldn't leave fast enough. We would have made a scene if we asked to move. We really couldn't complain because what would the waitress have done? Told her boss he stank? Ruined our Valentine's day lunch date.

We were very impressed by our first visit to this charming downtown Olympia eatery in a historic building. It was packed on Monday evening -- the Legislature's now in session -- but the servers and chefs did fine jobs coping with the crowd. The food was quite good, nicely presented, with a creative use of winter ingredients. The wine list was spectacular with many Northwest boutique winery offerings not seen on many wine lists in top restaurants in Seattle. Other things we liked about Water Street: A great view of the state capitol building nearby, plus plenty of free parking right outside the front door.

I would have LOVED this place if the greeters weren't so rude. I was given an attitude from the moment I walked in, which I never appreciate. It's not fair to say service was "good" in my review because our waitress was OUTSTANDING but we had to wait almost 2 hours for our food due to private parties that were there. I've worked in the restaurant & catering industries for years & felt that a small appetizer, salads, or complimentary drinks could have been offered, but they weren't. The food is incredible but the whole ambiance & prices are a bit pretentious considering the surrounding area. The manager needs to soften up & lighten up & the chefs can keep on cooking! Would recommend solely for the food & drink choices.

Easy to find. Great location. Lots of parking. The staff is very nice and attentive. Our used plates and glasses would be wisked away within minutes. The food was at our table fairly quick and it was piping hot. The cocktails were a little slow to get to our table and I would say that is the only problem with this place. Not a deal breaker. Our server, Bailey, was very sweet and professional. She wasn't bugging us every 5 minutes but she did come by enough that it showed us that she didn't forget we were there and at no time did we want for anything. She was on top of it. The food looked artsy and beautiful. This is not Red Lobster or Olive Garden. It is also not Ruth's Chris so it is moderately priced and not snobby. I will return.

It had been a few years since we last ate at the Waterstreet, and we were disappointed. The opening up of the kitchen to view was an improvement (except for watching the cook chug down water from a pitcher!), but the food has definitely taken a turn to the oily and mediocre. The crostini on the cheese platter was so oily it was limp and the side of brussel sprouts was sitting in a small pool of oil. Even the mushroom/pepper salad was very oily and uninspired. The lasagna was good, but that was all. I remembered more vegetarian offerings in the past, but no longer. It is highly unlikely that we will be returning to what used to be our favorite restaurant.

This is a very pleasant and modern restaurant, with a nice atmosphere, excellent service and an unusual menu. Everything that came to the table was good, tasted fresh, and was nicely served. The wine list is exceptional with many local vintages as well as familiar wines from other areas. I like the lack of pretentiousness, as well as the willingness to provide a special meal for my picky 11 year old--he only likes plain cheese pizza and their selections were all more sophisticated, but they very kindly served his with plain cheese and took something off the charge as well! Four of us ate with two glasses of wine, two large appetizers, three bottles of special root beet, and two desserts for $150 dollars. I was pleased with the price.

I had the Pork Schnitzel which was okay, not mind blowing like I expected for $26. My date had the Beef Cheeks, which were "Oooolala"! Well worth the $24. The section of the dining area we were in was too open with white walls and the tables were way to big. The kitchen was also in full view (which I understand was a new thing). This would be great for group dinners, but I would not recommend for a date or romantic evening.
