A word from Josephine's Modern American Bistro
The Cosentino’s firmly believe in creating an exceptional fine dining experience through utilization of the finest ingredients available. The term ‘modern American’ is meant to reflect freedom from ethnic constraints. The restaurant menu features ingredients and techniques from many different cultures. Chef Tony uses the finest cheeses available such as Maytag blue cheese, Tillamook cheddar and Reggiano. No hydrogenated oils or margarine are used on the premise, only extra virgin olive oil and real butter. Local seasonal and organic produce is utilized whenever available. The menu is frequently updated to showcase the best produce and seafood the season has to offer. This also serves to keep things fresh while allowing the chef room for creative freedom. The wine list is continuously added to, in order to complement the menu to the fullest. Josephine’s also features a full bar with excellent cocktails, martinis and an extensive beer list.

Josephine's is our local favorite to have an excellent meal in a cozy atmosphere. They never disappoint with their specials, regular menu, or wines. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable as well.

Went for New Years Eve, they had a fixed menu which I wasn't expecting. It was a little overpriced, and my steak was a chard.

Flagstaff is 2.5 hours north of our home yet we visit at least twice a year and assure that we eat at Josephine's on each visit. Great food, wine, & service.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Flagstaff and I go whenever I am in town. The shrimp diablo is to die for, actually anything on the menu is unbelievable.

Warm and welcoming environment with wood burning fireplace for ambience. Our server was attentive. The food was unbelievable good. The vegetable risotto was cooked perfectly and the pork osso bucco was tender and tasty. We also enjoyed the champagne vinagarette salad with grapefruit. So many layers of flavor in all the food. We could have skipped dessert as we were quite satisfied, but so glad we tried the Mexican Chocolate cream bulee with toasted almonds and burnt sugar on top. It was a surprising and different treat to end the meal. The wine selection is also nice and pairings are suggested with each entree on the menu.

We would have preferred to sit by one of the fire places, but the put our party upstairs. It was quaint, but a little lonely, as we were the only six people dining up there. Otherwise, all was great!

My friend and I had come from out of town and were looking for a wonderful place to have dinner on Thanksgiving - but NOT the traditional thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, when I made the reservation, neither did OPENTABLE nor did this restaurant's website provide the crucial information we lacked -- they ONLY serve a Thanksgiving Buffet on Thanksgiving. We left and tried to find another place, which was difficult and lead us to something less than we'd planned and desired for our UNtraditional special out-of-town meal. OPENTABLE needs to verify holiday situations for restaurants before accepting reservations.

  • This was an intimate setting
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 11/26/2009
This was an intimate setting in a converted house. The downstairs seating is nice, especially on cold nights when the servers light a wood fire in the fireplace. Upstairs it is quite cramped; the bedrooms with their steeply angled ceilings have been converted into dining spaces, so it's not a place to sit if you get claustrophobic. The food was good and wholesome, service was good, and it was a fair price.

We loved that the restaurant is in a craftsman style home, which was the perfect environment for Thanksgiving. The food was fresh and delicious, the wine was wonderful and the desserts were amazing. Your hostess, Kristen, was very warm, friendly and gave us great service. We hope to visit your restaurant if we get to visit Flagstaff in the near future. We're glad we found you on OpenTable.com. Thanks for making our Thanksgiving meal just like we would celebrate it at home.

The food was delicious and the service was top notch. The only part of our dining experience that was not so great was the ambiance/environment. The restaurant was cramped and too bright. Also, every time the a/c came on the lights blinked. My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and were expecting a more intimate and cozy experience. However, the food and service made up for the lighting, noise, and cramped dining area. It was truly magnificent!

FANTASTIC. What a beautiful, interesting place in downtown Flagstaff. It is on the National REgister of Historic Places, and it shows. Very charming, cozy, warm. Food was absolutely delicious. They had a butternut squash soup that was truly amazing. My husband's filet was gorgeously done. My halibut dish was unusual and a splendid melding of flavors. Highly recommend for a special dinner. Good wine selection.
