We both had the salad to start. The lightly dressed frissee was scattered with pomegranate seed, adding a piquant note. We were pleased with our entrees. I had the scallops and she had filet mignon. At first, I was disappointed by the small portion, but the meat and the sauce were so rich that a third scallop would have been too much. We finished with the vanilla bean creme brulee with fresh berries which had a glassy crust of caramelized sugar shattered with a tap of the spoon. All in all an enjoyable meal.

Always ready to explore new places on Dine About Town. For once parking was not a prob-we were seated in an elegant bankete area. But the chairs were hard a The Dine menus were easy to read - everything sounded good. We chose a variety of starters- a salade decompose that the chef decomposed at the table---no flavor, no real taste. The escargot were in an unusual fashion and also lacked flavor and tasted old. The green salad was quite nice. For entrees: steaks-nice but the vegies were also a mystery. The sole dish was ugh/ The chicken dish was just fair. Plates were cold The creme brulee ok, the chocolate dessert was also just barely fair. The rhone wine was ok BUT the prices too high. The wine menu: almost unreadable. No return for us

Bisou continues to be a neighborhood star. This is not stuffy white-table cloth expense account dining. It is excellent french bistro food in a small, modern, so sometimes raucous setting. Food top notch, staff as good as the food, and a fun energy throughout.

Really delicious authentically French food in a bistro setting that could have been in Paris. The twist is the Bay Area sense of freshness of local ingredients plus presentations and names that make one chuckle. Don't miss the Mother Earth dessert that is served in a clay planter pan. This "mudball" is the most scrumptious and surprising chocolate dessert I've had.

This was my second visit to Bisou. Both times I have gone with a very large group for a small boutique restaurant - and we have changed the number of individuals in our party. Bisou is always friendly and accommodating - and they don't make a big deal of it. The service is impeccable, the food delicious, and the atmosphere warm and cozy. Beautiful delicious food, great wine list and creative, unique cocktail list. I'll definitely come here again and again!

Overall, Bisou was fun and a great place to have mimosas and catch up with friends. The music was blaring and there was a huge crowd of hungry patrons waiting outside, peering in the windows when we arrived. The service was slow (it seemed like everyone was pitching in on multiple jobs instead of working one specific station) but we didn't mind. Both of my friends commented that they felt like we were in an episode of SATC, it was enjoyable.

Soup to nuts... We had a fabulous meal. The food was fresh, uniquely prepared and presented beautifully. I highly recommend the salmon tartar as a starter. Both main course meals centered on a well-prepared protein (scallops and fish), and had a variety of complimentary tastes throughout the dish. I recommend Bisou without hesitation.

We visited over the holiday week and booked this place for our New Year's Eve dinner. It was a five course dinner and it was amazing! We were greeted at the door by the chief and he was warm and welcoming. It was a bit crowded. There was a second level and they were packing people up there but we had a table at the end which was fine and over looked the bar area. Each course was better then the next. Martini's were an the small side but other then that I would highly recommend this restaurant!

I love France. Been there eight or 10 times. Only once did I ever have a waiter give me attitude. But if you think the French experience requires a haughty, chilly attitude, Bisou will feel authentic. Because the "service" we received was cold, unwelcoming and unhelpful. Then there was the food. Ordered escargots. Expected the traditional ramekin of half a dozen snails in garlic butter. What I got were two oddly-breaded pieces of something, deep-fried and served on a pool of mushroom puree. My main course chicken was dry and flavorless. My dining companions' salmon and pork were judged no better. We will not be back-especially after being charged a 20% gratuity with no notice.

We had high expectations about this French restaurant but were initially somewhat alarmed by the location - it is not among other restaurants and is in a section of town that at night we frankly did not feel safe. There were many disreputable people hanging around the street car and train stops. However, we were most concerned about the food. While it was presented very well many dishes were cold which makes me think they were inadequately staffed. In addition, we felt there was insufficient time between courses for us to digest and enjoy each dish. While the staff were friendly we won't be returning.

I feel with a huge rush to serve our dinner, bread doesn't serve at the beginning until being asked, and the waitress who served our table seems to be so annoyed and totally have no patience. Dinner taste ok, but portion is extremely small (french dinner may suppose to be small, but paying $75 per person for a 5 course and need to keep asking for extra bread to fill up my stomach, that's not a good experience). Even though I understand christmas dinner is more pricey, but the price vs value/service give me a definite NO on recommending this restaurant.

We booked Bisou for Christmas Eve this year, arriving a few minutes before our reservation to a full and boisterous house. The host informed us our table would be ready shortly and found a seat at the bar where the bartender made us excellent manhattans with French bitters. It turns out all the staff is French and quite charming. After a couple of sips the host led us to our table upstairs and presented us with their prefix menu which gave several options for the 5 courses including a lovely abuse muche from the chef. We observed food being brought out and being enjoyed by everyone around us. The staff allowed us to take our time ordering and drinking the fine wines they had paired with our choices. Excellent meal, excellent time!!!

We've been Bisou patrons for several years, and have enjoyed some great dinners there. But the Christmas Eve prix fixe dinner was just terrible. For $75 diners got choices...but ours were really not very good...hot dishes were lukewarm at best, dinner course were mixed up (we got served dessert before our last course of duck), and it was just a cluster. Will give Bisou a rest for a few months at least...suggesting that we don't return on a prix fixe menu sort of occasion. They try...but just didn't work for us (4 of us).

I loved my dish: truffled duck benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the duck wasn't too dry. The server cracked me up and was very knowledgeable about the dish. The only negative note was I couldn't taste the truffle oil, which would have tied the dish together with an earthy flavor, and it could have been a little tangier. However, I really enjoyed the overall dining experience there. Highly recommend!!

Bisou is one of my favourite places to go for reliably good french classic dishes. Steak frite and boeuf bourguignon are always perfect. It may be a little loud for some diners but has a relaxed friendly atmosphere with a mixed crowd dining at the bar and in the small space upstairs. The chef seems to know many guest by first name.
