Went with a group of 8 on a Tuesday night. Sat upstairs—the only people up there. Very sweet waiters turned down music for us upstairs so we could have conversations over the big table. We started with Charcuterie and Cheese platter: delightful, if a little skimpy on the cheese. Salads were beautifully presented (grated/chopped veggies mounded in a cylinder shape w mixed greens scattered on top), main dishes plentiful and delicious. My 3 cheese souffle was melt-in-the-mouth yummy and golden roasted brussle sprouts scrumptious. The two butches had steak frites (surprise?!) with which they were happy. I had some frites with a taste of the bernaise, good. The chef came to visit us twice and we were well taken care of by waiter. Overall Great!

  • Bisou was a wonderful dining
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

Bisou was a wonderful dining experience. The food has a strong French feel with an American complement. I had the beef with mashed potatoes and french fries, I also got to try the onion soup and the chicken entree. The french fries were amazing I recommend these fries. The price was 5 bucks for the fries but they are easily worth over $7. The chicken was very good, the sauce that it was cooked with reminded me a lot of Mexican mole sauce. I was not to excited about my Beef check dish and I feel I should have order the steak instead. The Mashed potatoes were excellent and the portions felt exactly right. The Swiss cheese was a perfect touch on my onion soup. The Hef beer and something G cocktail were excellent. I am coming back!

    Dined on 5/29/2010
We had the brunch at 10 am and were apparently the only patrons the whole time. My partner ordered the crab benedict and was not impressed. Mine was the French club sandwich, and it was good but a bit too much for a morning brunch. I would imagine French food came with a smaller size (based on our experience at the French Laundry). The music played at the restaurant was a bit too loud for a Saturday morning. Fortunately, the waiter was very nice and turned down the music at our request. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience for us.

-What a mess of a restaurant -It took quite a while of standing at the host stand waiting for someone to show up and greet us. -The wait staff also was slow and unpolished. We're not entirely sure if we had a waiter. The chef took our order and bought our drinks to the table. -The food was embarrassing and the mushroom appetizer was one of the most unappealing looking and tasting dishes I have ever had.

We celebrated my birthday upstairs where it was quiet enough to really talk with each other. The prix fixe dinner is an incredible find and everyone enjoyed their meal. The pear vodka mixed drink was delicious. I love desserts and we all shared the most incredible dessert we had ever seen, with several desserts, spun sugar creations-really magical! The service was very attentive.

Great find here--this place is super friendly and very hip. We are from out-of-town and found it in a guidebook (under it's old name, as this location is a new place opened in the last 8 mo.) Thought the food was fantastic and all the staff wants you to be happy and enjoy your experience. The chef visited our table, the server was charming and helpful with all our questions, and everyone who works there has a positive service-oriented attitude. Great space and very diverse crowd--safe to say it's "a hot spot."

The staff were freindly and the food was outstanding but, the bar was incredibly slow. We purposely ordered our drinks early so we could get them first but, we still ended up drinking our cocktails with our salads. Only saw our waiter at the begining and the very end. The manager tried very hard to help us but, in the end we felt the service was poor.

Brunch was really good! They had some great jazz playing and all you can drink bloody marys and samosas. The food was super yummy, I had the Croque Madam, which was served on open face bread that was grilled with béchamel sauce, ham, and gruyere cheese with an egg on top. Can't wait to go back. I've been twice already and its only been open for 3 weeks! Amazing food, fantastic staff...It could not have been a better experience. I requested the high rise table of my choice next to the kitchen and they easily accomodated my request. Every person who works there went out of their way to make for another memorable evening. So happy we have a new and delicious hot spot in the Castro. Steak Tar Tar was brilliantly prepared, table side and was delicious. Mussels were some of the best I've had...and then came the main courses. Steak Frite, Duck Confit and Beef Bourguignon...all prepared perfectly. Great wines recommended and topped off our amazing meal with the dessert mix. Dont miss out on this place. A new favorite!!

  • Only 15 days in and Bisou
    OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP
    Dined on 5/14/2010
Only 15 days in and Bisou is already keeping up the tradition of mediocre food and service established by its predecessors. There is vastly superior French food across market street (hint: starts with L'). That's the fundamental problem here--bad food. Bisou then compounds this problem with inattentive service, followed by overt table flipping (asking someone to leave their table in under two hours when they still have half a bottle of wine is a never-go-back killer by itself). One has to wonder whether this neighborhood will ever have a really good restaurant. Sigh.

Food was great. Unfortunately we were seated upstairs in an area made for 2-tops and 4-tops - but we were a party of 8 big boys. We'd have to squeeze into the table every time a waiter needed to pass - very uncomfortable. Speakers are right overhead, so you can't hear your dinner companions. A bit of a shame - loved the food, hated the seating and atmosphere. I'll eat here again, but never in that horrid upstairs seating area.

As a VIP member of OpenTable, I frequent many restaurants. This restaurant had the worst service. In fact, I was confused as to who the waiter was or was not. The food tasted good, but LACKED creativity. For example, the salmon benedict had an english muffin, slice of lox, poached egg, and sauce. How much creativity does it take to add a slice of onion or capers? No, I would not return.

The whole dining experience would have been very good but when we got the bill, we noticed that we were charged for the dessert, the wine was $32 vs. $26, and there was a gratuity charge for 3 people already included! They fixed it all at the end, but we didn't like having to worry about items on a bill.

We unfortunately were running off to a movie so we didn't get to savor our great food. But we told them in advance and they got us out in plenty of time. I had the Frisee Salad and it was perfect. The right temperature, the perfect combination of ingredients. My friend had the Goat Cheese Tart, and loved every bite. We both had the Kobe Beef Burger. Wow! It was really the best burger I have ever had, sans doubt. PErfectly cooked (medium rare) explosive flavor. The frites, or shoestrings were also good, could have been a little more crunchy. Small detail considering that burger I'll be back for! Great, friendly, efficient service. I hope this place stays around for a long time.
